good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, president obama wraps up his visit to the west african nation of senegal this morning. later he and his family are scheduled to travel to south africa. on sunday they'll go to tanza a tanzania. last night president obama attended a state dinner. later he visited goree island, a historic port where slaves from africa passed through on their way to the new world. mr. obama said he would like to visit nelson mandela to south africa, however, mandela remains in critical condition at a pretoria hospital where he's been treated for a lung infection since june 8th. mark phillips is outside that hospital. mark, good morning. what is the latest on that situation? >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. well, today marks the end of the third week of nelson mandela's hospitalization here for the lung infection that you've mentioned. we understand as well that that

condition has deteriorated to affect other interior vital organs as well. the condition here has remained visited here every day rushed with flowers hearing that he had taken a turn for the worse. doctors have managed to stabilize him. there has been no bulletin as of yet today burke the fact that he's in the hospital and the fact he's been here for so long has drawn crowds of well-wishers and curiosity-seekers. here those crowds have groan over the course of the stay. that continues today. young schoolchildren were brought here today to sing the praises of mandela and wish him well. as the whole situation

hacker. >> now, mr. obama said he was not certain that all of the secret documents that snowden had in his possession have been released. a bill to significantly change the nation's immigration law has passed in the senate. it now moves to the house where big changes to the measure are expected. tara mergener is in washington with the latest, tara, good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. it was a rare show of bipartisanship with 14 senate republicans voting in favor of the bill, but the celebration was quickly tempered by the house speaker who says it is dead on arrival. >> the bill as amended is passed. >> it was passed with sweeping reform in bipartisan support. >> to our friends in the house, we ask for your consideration and we stand ready to sit down and negotiate with you. >> speaker of the house john boehner said he will not bring up the senate bill for a vote.

he says house republicans will create their own immigration reform plan. >> we're going to go home for the recess next week and listen to our constituents, and when we get back we're going to have a conference on july 10th about a discussion for a way forward. >> one of the sticking points for the house republicans is what to do with the nation's 11 million undocumented immigrants. >> i like the fact that people want to become part of america because it's an idea that nobody owns. >> the senate bill provides temporary legal status for undocumented workers and eventually citizenship. if they pass a back ground check and pay fines and back taxes. senate leaders say they couldn't have passed the bill without that provision. democrats say the house bill will need to have to pass the citizenship as well. >> we know who's in the majority, but if you want our vote, it thoos be something that our members can vote for. >> but many republicans say citizenship rewards people who

broke the law. and any house bill is expected to focus on border security and finding immigrants who have overstayed their visas. anne-marie, the debate goes on. >> indeed, tara mergener in washington. thank you, tara. well, a federal jury indicted dzhokhar tsarnaev. the indictment covers 30 counts including charges that he conspired with his brother tamerlan in the use of weapons of mass destruction. he was involved in a shoot-out and could face the death penalty if convicted. bob orr reports. they say they built their pressure cooker bombs over a two-month period beginning in february. they used black powder for mortar shells purchased at this new hampshire store. they downloaded bomb making instructions from al qaeda's online magazine and they charge

they coordinated their attack, talking by cell phone just seconds before remotely detonating the bombs. in addition to the bomber, dzhokhar also faces murder charges in the death of a police officer. he was killed before the situation was disrupted by watertown police. tamerlan was killed in the 20-hour confrontation and hours later zor corps was captured in a nearby boat. it was on the wall of the boat they found an apparent motive. as cbs first reported, tsarnaev wrote a jihady creed. he said, you hurt one, you hurt

prosecutors say they built their case on video, text cells and cell phone tower records. >> he is a flight risk. he has the means and the motivation to flee. >> reporter: lloyd was dating the sister of hernandez's fiancee. police arrested hernandez wednesday, escorting him out of the house with his hands cuffed behind his back. investigators tell "the boston globe" the 23-year-old may also have been involved in a double murder last july. law enforcement officials say odin lloyd may have had information about hernandez's role in those killings. the judge denied bail. >> it's believed by the jury that this gentleman either by himself or with two other people that he requested come to the commonwealth basically in a cold-blooded fashion killed a person because that person disrespected him. >> reporter: the judge said if he doesn't follow society's rules, he shouldn't be free.
