2013. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, investigators looking into spain's deadliest rail disaster in decades is looking at speed. it may have been going twice as fast. one american is among the dead and the state department says at least five others were hurt. tara mergener has more. >> reporter: video of the crash outside the city of santiago de compostela shows how quickly the train derailed off the track and twisted into pieces. there are indications that the train may have been traveled at twice the speed limit. the driver garzon is in the hospital. one of the victims was an american identified as 47-year-old cordoba from virginia. she was the administrative employee of the catholic diocese.

she was vacationing with her husband and daughter to visit their son who was on a pilgrimage. >> i'm sure they were looking forward to it. i can only imagine how horrible it must have been for their son, you know, waiting for them to arrive and to hear the news of this terrible tragedy. >> reporter: cordoba's father told cbs news he learned about the death of his daughter yesterday. he said he's very upset and confused, calling the accident pathetic. cordoba's husband and daughter were among the dozens. far a arhi za's daughter got ve hurt. >> her scalp was flipped over. >> reporter: authorities in

spain plan to question the driver of the train who's also recovering from his injuries as a witness and possible suspect. they're also looking into the possibility of faulty equipment. anne-marie? >> tara mergener in washington. thank you, tara. there could be a plea deal when ariel castro appears in court in cleveland this morning. castro is accused of abducting three women and holding them for nearly tern years in his cleveland home. a plea deal would keep him behind bars for the rest of his life but avoid the death penalty. and a second woman on the jury who acquitted george zimmerman of the murder of trayvon murder has come forward. she believes zimmerman got away with murder. she told abc news she wanted to convict zimmerman but she couldn't because of the lack of evidence. >> i stand by the decision

because of the law. if i stand by the decision of my heart, he would have been guilty. >> it is devastating to hear the commenting from b-29, comments which we already knew in our hearts to be true. five men are being charged in what's being called the largest hacking scheme ever prosecuted in the u.s. it results in more than $300 million in losses. as don dahler reports, prosecutors say the suspects are on the cutting edge of crime. >> the internet has changed the way people people. >> reporter: u.s. politician has explained. the information was sold to thieves who used them for purchases or to get cash. 17 corporations were capped including 7-eleven, jcpenney, jetblue, and dow jones.

explosion and oil spill in the gulf three years ago. it killed many workers and spilled millions of glans of oil into the golf. halliburton will pay a $200,000 fine and be on probation for three years. >> tokyo's nikkei dropped 3% hitting a three-week low. hong kong's hang seng added a quarter percent. wall street was a mixed bag. dow jones posted 13 pointed higher and the nasdaq finished 19 points higher driven by a rally. zingo once a darling stock rose due to popular it of facebook. it dropped in the quarter. zynga stock is down 70% from its

welcome at copacabana beach. he told youngsters to get out in the streets, enjoy their faith and shake up the old diocese. earlier in the day he visited a shanty town in northern rio known as the gaza strip for its high crime rate. and a showdown is brewing over efforts to restrict voting laws in north carolina. last night a republican-backed measure cleared the house. six people were arrested for trying to stop it. the measure would require voters to present government-issued photo i.d.s at the polls. it shortens early voting by one week, ends same-day registration, eliminates a high school program and raises caps. it's unclear whether the governor will sign the measure into law. yesterday holder said they will challenge a new voter law in texas and hinted at changing the voter laws in other states

tomorrow marks the 60th anniversary of the end of the korean war. president obama will commemorate the event with a speech saturday at the korean war memorial in washington. in north korea, july 27th is called victory day. it's a national holiday. seth doane was allowed to travel to pyongyang for a rare look inside that country. >> reporter: it wasn't long after we landed that the government assigned us a minder who would accompany us everywhere we went. you have to stay with me at all times. we can't leave the hotel. we can't photograph anything without permission. these are all the rules you tell me, yes? we were carted from place to place. real life passed by the bus window. we were not allowed to stop. ♪ the north koreans call their
