captioning sponsored by cbs this is the "cbs evening news" >> glor: good evening, i am jeff glor. with a western edition. the family of thomas eric duncan is about to leave quarantine. the family of amber vincent a nurse who got ebola from duncan just released their first extensive comments on what happened after she cared for him. vicente arenas is in dallas. >> reporter: there had been lots t mistakes made in treating thomas eric duncan at texas health presbyterian hospital, but nurse amber vinson says they weren't made by her. in a statement today, her family said she has to fly back to dallas from cleveland a day early after hearing nita pham had been diagnosed with ebola, officials told her that her concerns were unfounded, vincent reported her temperature three times before boarding her flight last sunday and was cleared to fly each time. the following day, vincent admitted herself to the hospital, vincent who is now

being treated at emory university hospital in atlanta has hired prominent washington attorney billy martin. the cdc is monitoring about 400 people for ebola symptoms nationwide, they include duncan's fiancee luis trow and her family, the last time we saw them was three weeks ago as they left their contaminated apartment for undisclosed location, their quarantine ends tomorrow. en not only have they been isolated from the wider public and their families they have soen isolated from each other even in the house because they have not been able to touch each other during this period of time. >> this has got to be tough. >> this is very difficult, it really is. >> george mason is his pastor and says most of the belongings were destroyed and still don't have a place to live. ha we have done some preliminary research to see if certain apartment complexes would be open to them and the response has been tepid, to be honest. >> reporter: meanwhile the cdc lt still finalizing new guidelines for how healthcare

province is now under isis control and last week the islamic extremist seized yet another iraqi military base, so across the border in syria near the town of kobani, isis militants have been hit by 70 u.s. led air strikes over the last week that is the most intense barrage since the air campaign began and it helped to push them back. now, kobani lies in a key strategic position on syria's border with turkey, and the battle there has really become a test of whether u.s. led air strikes can stop the advance of his militants. >> glor: holly williams tonight, thank you very much. new clashes in hong kong today, riot police used batons to go after the protesters who protected themselves with umbrellas. student groups are accusing beijing of ignoring its promises to allow full democracy in hong kong, talks between the government and protest leaders are scheduled to resume on tuesday. pope francis held edification

in two waves, the first beginning before dusk, a column of police in riot gear tried to restore order. >> they started shooting rubber bullets everywhere and then they tackled one kid. >> reporter: after dark, the crowds grew larger and police deployed tear gas, new hampshire's governor had been in keene earlier in the day to meet with public safety leaders after violence in past years. fire chief mark howard. >> this is the 24th year of the pumpkin festival, it is not uncommon to have some minor disturbances. >> reporter: keene state college said it is using social media to identify its students among the rioters and will hold them ticountable. mark albert, cbs news, new york. >> glor: police in virginia canceled today's scheduled search party for hannah graham, one day after the discovery of a body near charlottesville. there was still no official confirmation but the families already has been told what police suspect, julianna goldman has more. >> reporter: police on sunday

blocked off the road next to the property where the remains were found, they continue to scour the area for any additional evidence. >> yesterday, after 35 days of searching, police called 18- year-old hannah graham's parents with the news that discovered a body near an abandoned property outside of charlottesville. police chief timothy longo. >> again, these are human remains and forensic tests need to be conducted to determine the identification of those remains, tit nonetheless, we wanted to be quick and timely to share that information, excuse me, with the graham family. >> reporter: even as they asked for patience with he limited information they could provide police changed the case from missing person to a death investigation. sergeant dale terry and his team found the remains in a dry creek bed along with a pair of tight dark pants, pants like the kind graham was wearing when she disappeared. >> we are here or for a mission mid that mission was to bring closure and we are hoping this is what we have done.

>> reporter: graham went missing early in the morning on september 13th after a night out with friends putting students and families in the college town on alert. police charged 32-year-old jesse matthew with abduction and attempt to defile or sexually assault, he is in custody after being arrested in galveston, texas last month. police say forensic evidence links matthew to another missing college student who disappeared in 2009, and was pound dead a few months later close to where the remains this weekend were discovered, an autopsy is under way and police say more details ulll emerge in the coming days. jeff? >> glor: juliana, thank you very much. online medical consultations, just what the doctor is hodering. and the heroic dash that saved a man from this burning home in california. when the cbs evening news continues.
