nfl teams making unexpected moves at the sta making unexpected moves at the start of the free agency period. captioning funded by cbs this is the "cbs morning news" for wednesday, march 11th 2015. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. hillary clinton's explanation for why she exclusively used a private e-mail account while she was secretary of state hasn't stopped a storm of criticism. addressing the issue publicly for the first time yesterday, clinton said she did it because she didn't want to carry two phones but says she broke no rules. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, good morning. >> anne-marie, good morning. yeah. her answers did not satisfy many here on capitol hill. she indicated during that news conference yesterday many times that she went above and beyond what was required of her, what was asked of her when she turned over these e-mails to the state

department. she also acknowledged it was her and her aides who went through the e-mails to decide which would be turn oefrd and she did it all for one simple reason. >> i saw it as a matter of convenience. >> reporter: the e-mail dogging clinton's likely presidential campaign continues to intensify despite attempts tuesday to explain why she used a private e-mail account to conduct business during her time as secretary of state. >> i fully complied by every rule i was governed by. >> she says it was preserved and turned over to state department, something she did nearly two years after she left the administration. any private e-mails were deleted. >> e-mails about chelsea's wedding, my mother's funeral as well as yoga routines.

students rallied outside the sae house on the university of oklahoma campus. some students remained inside whoul they while they protested outside. >> thai someone should have stood up and said hey, we should not say this. >> reporter: the racist video shows members of sa e.on the bus singing a song. tuesday, one of the men seen on the bus parker rice issued an apology writing i am deeply sorry for what i did saturday night. it was wrong and reckless. i made a horrible mistake by joining into the singing and encouraging others to do the same. rice said the song was likely fueled by alcohol and confirmed it was taught by other members. it's more important to acknowledge what i did and what i didn't do he wrote. i didn't say no. my goal for the long term is to

city of ferguson resigned. he was voted out last night in what was called a mutual separation 'agreement. last week the justice didn't issued a report alleging racial buy yis repeatedly reporting shaw's role. seven months ago a white police officer fatally shot michael brown, an unarmed black teenager. they're ready to move on the islamic state of the city of tikrit. they captured another town on the city's outskirts yesterday. tikrit is islam's hometown and they're cult off on all sides. the islamic state is estimated to hold a third of iraq and syria. and isis issued a video reportedly showing a young boy executing a young palestinian man who allegedly spied for israel. the boy dressed in camouflage is seen standing behind the man.

the video appears to show the boy shooting the man in the head. the father of the 19-year-old victim said he left for syria four months ago but the israeli security agency said he h had left for turkey to fight with isis. on capitol hill they're accusing 47 senators for trying to undercut the president and sabotage negotiations with iran over the nuclear program. the letter says any deal could be overturned by a future president or congress. in a written statement, vice president biden said i cannot recall another instance in which senators wrote directly to advise another country that the president does not have the constitutional authority to reach a meaningful understanding with them. the letter's author tot cotton, a senator for nine weeks, denied ujds mining the nuclear talks. >> congress must approve a deal for a deal to be lasting and congress will only approve a deal if it stops iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

>> democrat harry reid called the letter a kind of pettiness that diminishes us as a country to the world. on tuesday the jury got a look at the message dzhokhar tsarnaev wrote inside the boat where he was captured. tsarnaev wrote that the u.s. government is quote killing our innocent civilians and as a muslim, i can't stand to see such evil go unpunished. the judge ended court early to look at the boat himself to decide whether to allow the jury to see the entire boat as tsarnaev's lawyers have requested. he won't say if he'll allow execution by a firing squad. lawmakers passed a law yesterday that would make utah use a firing squad as backup if execution drugs are not available. and much of the nation is thawing out as rain thaws from the gulf coast to most of the east coast today. the showers will stretch from

the lower mississippi valley to the southeast and northward into the mid-atlantic states and ohio later today. in tennessee the rain brought flooding to nashville and there's a threat for more to come for the rest of the week as new showers come thursday and friday, which could trigger additional flooding. in boston they're calling it the big melt. warmer temperatures cause huged huge chunks of snow to slide off rooftops and damage some parked cars. fences have been knocked down and sidewalks cordoned off because they were unsafe for pedestrians. and on cape cod gigantic blocks of ice have been washed ashore by the tide. one has caused them to dock. residents say they have never seen such large ice floes. well coming up on the "morning news," clearing up "blurred lines." a jury rules against robin

a little rainy as you make your way out the door this morning. good morning, it is wednesday, march 11, i'll michelle griego. >> good morning to you, i'm juliette goodrich in for frank mallicoat. all right. well, let's get our first check on weather. some rain. >> rain as we forecast. the most problematic thing about it is not the amount of rainfall but it's so light that the roads will be slick. right now very light rain showers from the north bay into the santa clara valley. temperatures mild in the 50s. later today with a spotty scattered showers into the 60s. the full forecast straight ahead. >> we did see a number of serious accidents overnight. now that the commute is kind of picking up we're beginning to see some clearing in some of the accidents. here's the bay bridge toll plaza approach. eastbound getting on the bay
