ia student is sparking outrage on campus and has gotten the attention of the governor. marqise johnson, a third year student at uva was arrested thursday morning by the state's alcoholic beverage control agency. a photograph shows johnson pinned on the sidewalk with blood gushing from a wound on his head. he was bell lidge rant after being turned away from a bar. about a thousand students demonstrated on campus wednesday night. they used an outdoor amphitheater to sound the call for justice. a tearful marqise johnson was

under arrest. he said it was unacceptable. a witness said an alcoholic beverage control officer grabbed johnson by the arm after a bouncer stopped athe 20-year-old from entering the bar. johnson asked the officers to let go of his arm and tried to pull away. that's when he was brought to the ground hitting his head on the sidewalk. johnson was treated at a hospital and charged with obstruction of justice and public swearing or intoxication. snook it's an issue for all of uva. >> some student groups called into question the officers' use of force. university officials showed their concern as well. >> felt it in my stomach, seeing the blood run down that young man's face i wanted to know

what happened. >> this is not the first time ththe officers have been a accuseded in charlottesvsville of going ovever the line. they oncnce water for beer. the state of virginia settled with her for more than $212,000. virginia governor terry mcauliffe is asking the state police to investigate the officer's use of force. meanwhile the arresting officers have been put on administrative duty. tunisia officials are searching for pop accomplices. gunmen killed 19 people including 17 tourists. one was known to intel jechblt services though not for anything special. tourism is the element to tunisia's economy. tunisia's president said his country is in a war with terror.

>> reporter: security forces stand guard outside the museum this morning as authorities hunt for two to three people tied to the alleged gunman. hundreds ss gathered for a vigil wednesday. two men opened fire on people getting off of the bus at the museum using assault rifle. others were taken hostage inside where they were killed. most of the victims were tourists. >> our hearts go out to the loved ones who were lost in japan and around the world. >> first lady michelle obama offered condolences. they stormed the museum and killed the two gunmen. their identities and motives are unconfirmed but australia's prime minister believes extremists were sending a

message to the nation. >> finally it's an attack by extremists on democracy. an estimated 3,000 have left the country to fight alongside isis in iraq, syria, and elsewhere. now the white house is sharply contemning the atackles which it is referring to as terror. anne-marie? >> susan mcginnis in washington. thank you, susan. the relationship between president obama and prime minister benjamin netanyahu may be past the point of repair. on wednesday the white house criticized his tactics leading up to his elections this week. he will reverse course saying he no longer supports palestinian statehood. that puts him at odds with the u.s. policy. the administration also criticized him for using

ed interest in the case of two missing california girls who disappeared while durst lived there. testimony resumes in the bombing trial of dzhokhar tsarnaev. a police witness testified don dahler reports. >> reporter: while the battle between tsarnaev brothers and police was still going on trooper robert mccarthy arrived on the scene. at that time there was multiple radio calls of shots fired, he told the court. they're throwing bombs at us. two of those bombs didn't explode. he described using a robot to place them in a bomb pod.

the inside of the bombs were lined with bbs and filled with gun powder. when asked about the unusual shape of one of the bombs, mccarthy explained we don't usually see these type. usually they're straight length. it's more of an improvised grenade. when it's dropped it doesn't stop. it rolls away. a pair of bloody white gloves were found in the tsarnaevs' honda. he said that blood was from murdered mit officer shaun collier collier. the jury was told that some of the fingerprints belonged to dzhokhar tsarnaev. don dahler cbs news boston. as we approach the first official day of spring tomorrow wintry weather is back. temperature readings in the northeast are more than 10 degrees below normal and as

seat with his arms out to his sides. finally he pulled into a gas station where officers took him into custody. the president of penn state university says a fraternity's facebook postings of nude or partially nude women was offensive. they suspended the fra ternlts over wednesday. school president eric baron said wednesday that type of behavior should get students expelled. >> anybody responsible for that kind of offensive behavior should be punished as they should be. >> he says that he can't imagine anybody that's not appalled by the alleged behavior. the archdiocese of san francisco is apologizing for drenching homeless people during california's historic drought. the church said wednesday that it has dismantled the sprinkler system outside the church to prevent homeless people from sleeping there.

and businessman donald trump formed a presidential exploratory committee. trump said in a statement yesterday that he is the only candidate who can make america truly great again. the move is one step short of a formal campaign launch but it allows him to raise money and hire staff. on the "cbs moneywatch" now, target prepares to pay victims of a data breach and march madness pools take over offices. jill wagner is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, jill. good morning, anne-marie. target will pay $10 million in a class-action lawsuit stemming from a giant data breach. that data breach was one of the largest of its kind. between november 27th and december 15th in 2013, cyber thieves stole information from as many as 40 million credit and debit cards. if a federal court approves, each victim could get up to $10,000. the federal reserve indicated it's in no hurry to

raise interest rates. following its latest fed meeting, janet yellen expressed concerns, but the fed said it will no longer be patient in starting to raise rates. but yellen said that doesn't mean it will be impatient. the dow jumped 227 points, the s&p jumped 25 points and the nasdaq finished the day 45 points higher. starbucks says its "race together" campaign has nothing to do with money. ceo howard schultz defends the campaign at its meeting in seattle. the company has been criticized for using racial tensions to boost itself bottom line. workers write "race together" on its starbucks cups and they plan to write on race relations. sony has come out with ps view.

in sports march madness begins in earnest today with 16 games. now that the 64-team field is set, the final two teams made it in last night. dayton playing on its home court rallied to beat boise state, 56-55. the flyers trailed by seven points late in the second half but closed with a 10-2 run. dayton plays sixth seed providence on friday. and earlier another comeback as robert morris rallied from a 13-point second half deficit to defeat north florida, 81-77. lucky jones finished with 21 points for the colonials last night. robert morris meets top seeded duke friday night. tens of millions are trying to predict the tournament winner filling out brackets in office pools and elsewhere.

a beautiful light show in northern minnesota. the northern lights were very active wednesday displaying a wide variety of color, some of them other lake superior. some were more visible because of the magnetic fields were hit by a severe solar storm. college basketball players are getting all the attention this month but wait till you see what's going on at some of the halftime shows. a group of young athletes is putting on an incredible performance and they showed adriana diaz the ropes. ♪ >> reporter: if you think of jumping rope as an art form, these girls are masters. they're called the firecrackers.

an extraordinary group of fourth through eighth graders in south lebanon, ohio. jalen little has been a firecracker for five years. >> how on earth do you learn how to do the tricks that you do? >> we practice five days a week, two hours a day. joust need to put a lot of work into it to get really good. >> reporter: now the firecrackers are igniting the small ohio town and the whole country. they perform at parades, on david letterman, and they're bringing down the house at college and professional halftime shows. >> the one and only firecrackers. >> reporter: we recently caught up with them at an army/navy game. ♪ >> do you guys feel famous? >> i do. >> are people surprised when they see you jumping rope on your tush? >> i think that's the biggest crowd pleaser.

>> reporter: the team was started 20 years ago by former phys ed teacher lynn kelly. >> was it like? >> south lebanon was a sleepy little village. a lot of my teens were from this trailer park. >> reporter: at the time lebanon had a 15% poverty rate, 11 times the national average. >> some of the kids did not have the advantage of music lessons and band lessons. the school did not have after school programs to foster the kids' creative talents. >> reporter: at $2 a jump rope kelly found a simple solution. in addition to practicing ten hours a week, the girls are also required to take public speaking and etiquette classes. >> this isn't about jump roping really. it's about developing kids to be really great citizens. >> reporter: with just a few feet of rope, these girls are reaching new heights.
