. tornado alley gets slammed. there's major damage and reports of injuries from a string of twisters over three states. more probable than not an nfl investigation indicates tom brady for the afc championship game. and millions of people go to the poles to elect a new parliament and perhaps a new prime minister. this is cbs morning news. i'm allison in for green. and this morning, towns bracing for more violent wither.

multiple tornados ripped through nebraska kansas and nebraska. no deaths reported but 18 people injured overnight in oklahoma. five in critical condition. and debris litters the landscape. some are just a pile of rubble. the storms overturned cars and brought down power lines and snapped trees. a massive twister darkened the sky as it tore a path of destruction through the ground. and one in rural nebraska. >> reporter: debris from dozens of shattered homes and other structures litters the ground in oklahoma after a series of tornados tore through the area wednesday. >> look at thiez,ese, they are lined

up. >> reporter: one estimated at a half mile wide raked the ground near oklahoma city. >> that is significant damage in bridge creak. ef 3 damage. >> reporter: other twisters reported in kansas and nebraska. >> it was in the basement and got debrae in the basement. >> reporter: a day karbcare center destroyed. mile-per-hour. heavy rain caused flooding in norman and nearby moore, oklahoma. and the rain made it hard for them to see, not just for forecasters but for people. >> and conditions are fright

more dangerous conditions. >> we've been track these across the plains p. and more than a dozen reports, we'll see how many. and reaching back to the denver area. dragging up some of the gulf of mexico moisture and changing winds with height. and we'll be watching kansas, oklahoma and west of 35 and into the texas pan handle chance for more tornados and be on guard for more severe weather. and on friday watching pretty much the same zone. right across the plains will by the highest risk area and at the end of the week, another storm system pulls into the rocky and

produce snow across the rockies and another chance of severe weather for mother's day weekend. the first named storm of the season could be forming in the atlantic this morning. forecasters say it's are expected to form in the southeast coast. the wursz conditions should start tomorrow and head into the weekend. it's likely to come ashore in the carolinas. this morning, patriot star tom brady is under fire in the deflate-gate scandal. the report found he was likely aware and taking the air out of izeeasier to throw and catch. >> reporter: the nfl says it was no accident that footballs used by the patriots against colts were deflated.

and tom brady probably knew about it. back in january, brady denied any knowledge of deflate-gate. >> i didn't aultder the ball in any way. >> reporter: league rules require balls be inflated 12.5 to 13.5 ounces per square inch. and they were involved in quote a deliberate effort to release air after the referees reviewed balls. and text messages show that tom brady requested it and they received signed balls in return. >> i think roger goodell is seriously going to weigh a game suspension for tom brady.

h e country. communities in the plains are being warned about more violent weather. tornados tore through oklahoma kansas and nebraska. dozens of homes destroyed outside of oklahoma city. the storms downed power lines and flipped cars. and the nfl is having new foul out and finding that they probably deflated footballs and that quarterback tom brady knew about it.
