it down. >> and lebron james turns in another clutch performance in the nba finals, scoring 40 points as cleveland closes in on its first ever basketball championship. captioning funded by cbs captioning funded by cbs this is the "cbs morning news" for wednesday, june 10th, 2015. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. this morning the manhunt for two killers who escaped from a new york prison is concentrated near a small town about 30 miles away. law enforcement officials are searching the small rural town of willsboro and the surrounding woods following tips from a resident. so far they've come up empty. townspeople have been warned via twitter to take precaution, please lock houses and cars overnight, the tweet reads, and as don champion reports, the townspeople are paying attention.

>> reporter: she keeps her door locked overnight as the manhunt continues. >> if they're cornered and desperate, they're going to go into someone's house and someone's going to get hurt and that's my only fear. >> reporter: hundreds of law enforcement officers desend seconded on the community by the bus load. they searched woods and railroad tracks. >> small town like this being so far from there, you don't think about it. >> reporter: it's about 30 miles from the clinton correctional facility where they say prisoners used power tools to break free. investigators are looking at how they may have gotten those tools. rich worked at the prison as an engineer for 35 years. >> everything's counted at the end of the day, if there's one tool misplaced the shop is locked and nobody leaves. >> reporter: correction

officials say an inventory of the prison's tools has shown so far nothing missing. don champion, cbs news, willsboro, new york. the united states is considering plans to retrain iraqi troops fighting against isis. the possibility, setting up new training camps but not sending u.s. forces into combat. the options include putting as many as 1,000 more american trainers in iraq, training sunni tribesmen directly. up till now, the iraqis have trained these sunnis, and sealing the main border crossing from turkey into iraq to cut off the flow of foreign fighters. a potential trial for former house speaker dennis hastert is months away. hastert is free on bail after pleading not guilty to charges that he avoided banking laws and lied to the fbi. the indictment claims he paid hush money to cover up prior

misconduct that the ap reports was sexual in nature. >> dennis hastert left a federal court in chicago tuesday after pleading not guilty to all counts in a hush money scandal. the former speaker is accused of violating banking laws and lying the fbi. sources tell cbs the illinois republican used cash to buy someone's silence about his misconduct when he was a high school and senior wrestling coach. here the coverup created the crime. >> reporter: attorneys for both sides have until thursday to see if the judge recused himself. he previously donated money to hastert's campaign. hastert could face ten years in prison and a $500,000 fine if convicted. the white police officer videotaped pushing a black girl to the ground at a texas pool party resigned.

man-handling of a 13-year-old girl that trigger his firing. >> that untrains the fact about somebody else coming in. it doesn't stop anybody from filing criminal charges. >> reporter: in mckinney, texas, j.d. miles, cbs news. in cleveland a group of activists went to court seeking to have two white police officers charged in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old black boy tamir rice. rice was shot and killed outside a recreation center. he was holding a pellet gun. the group filed an affidavit asking that there is probable cause for the arrest of the officers. >> we believe the officers caused the death of tamir rice in deeds which were unconscionable, reprehensible, and, yes, criminal. >> prosecutors say when they're done with their investigation

the evidence will be presented to a grand jury. three jurors in the colorado jury murder trial are dismissed. james holmes has pleaded not guilty to opening fire in a crowded movie theater killing 12 and injuring 70 others. the jurors were dismissed because they might have violated orders not to talk about the case. an undercover nypd detective is facing criminal time. they were cleared of the most guilty charges but found them guilty of lesser charges. in 2013 a group of bikers attacked an suv, pulled the driver out of the vehicle, and beat him in front of his wife and toddler. he faces up to seven years behind bars. well, coming up on the "morning news" now, a possible downsizing for carry-on luggage, plus on the trail of

jumped. the open jobs in april jumped 5.2% to 5.4 million. that suggests the steady hire willing likely continue. if you're a lobster lover, prepare to pony up. they're getting more expensive, according to a lobster industry group. they're staying away from shore because the unusually frosty winter has kept the harbor water temperatures too cold, and the demand for lobsters is skyrocketing. one wholesaler said this is the first time she had to raise prices in six years. and pizza hut has come up with a movie box that doubles as a movie projector. a lens comes with the pizza. customers put the lens in the bach and can play movies with smartphones but you'll have to provide your own speakers if you want to hear anything. anne-marie, a new suggestion for a movie night. >> i guess. talk about making a cheap date even cheaper.

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. lebron james is doing all he can to deliver a championship to the city of cleveland for the first time in more than 50 years. james comes up with another huge performance in game three of the nba finals. he scores 40 points and hands out eight assists in front of the cleveland faithful. cleveland takes game three from golden state, 96-91. james credited cleveland fans for their support during all the games. >> we just tried to give it all back to them for 48 minutes. as loud as they were, they need to go home now and start soaking

up a lot of tea, drinking a lot of tea for the next 36 hours or whatever the case may be because they need to be just as loud thursday night. i need you guys to keep those voices right. >> they lead two games to one and game four is thursday night. and while the bay area basketball team had a down night, one of its baseball teams gets a historic performance from a first-year pitcher. san francisco giants rookie chris heston silences the mets at citi field. he strikes out ten batters and holding them through 8 2/3 innings. the only thing standing between a 27-year-old and a no-hitter is mets shortstop ruben tejada. >> 2-2. strike three called. chris heston in his 13th major league start. >> heston didn't issue any walks, but he missed out on a perfect game because he hit three batters.

volunteers joined law enforcement combing dense woods. drivers have been calling to report seeing pigs running along the roadway. hundreds were set free monday night when a semi carrying more than 2,000 pigletings flipped. authorities plan to set traps today. this morning a service dog is being hailed for his dedication. he put himself in harm's way to protect his owner from danger in a town in new york city. lou young of our new york station shows us this inspiring story. >> reporter: the injured service dog limps along and still manage a tail wag after literally throwing himself in front of a bus monday on main street and brewster. the 8-year-old golden retriever is the companion and guide of audrey stone, a legally blind resident here who knows fie figo is something special. >> i thank him and i thank god i

i have him and he survived too. i love him. >> reporter: police shared photos with us of the area. it's covered with the animal's fur stripped from its right front leg. >> it was very heartbreaking. >> amazingly the dog didn't yelp in pain but calmly struggled to stay with his mistress. >> you really can't touch an injured dog guarding somebody because they're aggressive. not this dog. >> reporter: the dog was taken to a local vet who says figo's behavior is remarkable even for a service animal. >> whether he did that consciously or unconsciously, but it's pretty amazing. >> reporter: this is audrey stone's third service dog. she's been fond of them all but this one is providing extra insensitive for her to get past her hospital treatment and get on her feet. >> want to get home to my dog.

ds of law enforcement officers have converged on a small town in upstate new york to search for two murderers who escaped from prison. residents reported seeing two men walking in town monday night before heading into the woods. david sweat and richard matt have been missing since saturday. and the u.s. is considering plans to send more troops to iraq to train iraqi troops who have struggled in their fight against isis militants. up to a thousand new troops could be sent and new training bases built. secretary of state john kerry is on the mend after his breaking his leg in a bicycle accident. kerry tweeted a pi of himself in
