stephen curry from downtown. >> and battling back. stephen curry and the golden state warriors come back ending with a tie of two games apiece. this is the "cbs morning news" for friday, june 12th, 2015. good morning. i'm alison harmelin in for anne-marie green. this morning the search for two escaped killers is focused on the area where it all began within miles of where it all began. blood hounds picked up the convicts' scent about 20 miles from the canadian border. area residents have been told to lock their doors and stay alert. new york governor andrew cuomo says investigators are talking to several people who may have facilitated the escape including joyce mitchell a prison instructor. don champion has more on the

manhunt. >> reporter: authorities remain focused on the town of cadyville this morning, scouring dense forest and tough terrain. it's brought them within miles of the correctional facility where richard matt and david sweat broke three. >> reporter: sources tell cbs news dogs picked up the scent in the area. in the woods police discovered food wrappers bedding, and a footprint. the scene is playing out right in front of darlene's house. >> with them in front of my house, it makes me feel at ease. >> reporter: they used heavy tools and construction ee kwipgs to cut through a wall and steel pipes. >> either they're very good at what they do with a lot of good training or they had some very good equipment or somebody else cut the hole for them.

thunderstorms, large hail and damaging winds exist. the weather system is capable of producing excessive rainfall and flash flooding. a flash flood warning remains in colorado. heavy rain caused some major street flooding. the rain came down hard and fast. drivers got stuck in running water and had to be rescued. meteorologist eric fisher of our boston station has more on today's weather. >> it's been a very stormy night, especially in colorado with flash flooding and some severe storms. as we head through friday the threat is going to move a little farther south. looking at a severe threat in texas and the oklahoma pan handles. it will move toward detroit, allnd elsewhere by the end of the day. into up yit norm as we head through friday night before heading on the road and

traveling. out ahead of the storms a lot of heat. near 90 in pittsburgh 93 in d.c. could be a record 85 in new york and 87 in boston. on the southern end, a heavy rain threat. clusters of storms bringing several inches to an airy that saw so much flooding going back through the month of may. the pattern going forward, a lot of moisture going up across the plains and a lot of rain expected. certainly something we'll be keeping close tabs on. i'm meteorologist eric fisher for cbs news. an attorney for two police officers say they're disappoint thad there's enough evidence to charge officers in the death of tamir rice. the ruling is symbolic. evidence still has to be presented to grand jury and the prosecutor has to press charges. >> it's important to realize that we're in no different spot than we were 24 hours ago or 10

hours ago. the prorosecutor still has to makee this decisision. >> a sense of relief optimism. it's a small amount of for tamir. >> the officers say they thought it was a real weapon. doctors treating the germanwings co-pilot thought he was unfit to fly, but they didn't tell the airline because of german privacy laws. prosecutors say lubitz had seven medical paints before the crash that kill 150 people. a psychiatrist concluded he was unstable. lubitz consulted more than 40 doctors in the past five years. he feared he was going blind, threatening his career. it's not clear whether his problems were rear or imagined. the body killed while fighting isis is on its way home

this morning. they said his faith led him to take up arms. >> reporter: hundreds of people turned up in the kurdish town of kobani cheering the body of keith broomfield. the 36-year-old is believed to be the first american killed fighting against isis forces in syria. >> i'm here do what i can. >> reporter: broomfield's family hadn't heard from him in several months. they spoke to the media thursday saying keith's faith motivated him to join the fight. >> he really felt led by the lord to go over there and knotnot knowing what he could do or should do and said i feel the need go there. >> reporter: andrew's brother said he knew the risks but felt the need to attack. >> he opposed evil which i do too. somebody needs to stand up and oppose evil. chelsea edwards for cbs newsws. south korea says the merercy

holdings include the wall street journalist, "new york post," "the times of london," and 21st century fox film. murdoch will remain as co-executive chairman. there's also been a change at the top of the giant twitter. ceo dick costello is stepping down. co-founder jack dorsey is taking over on an interim basis. this morning he said he anticipates no immediate changes in strategy or direction. encouraging news on retail sales sent stocks on wall street higher. americans spent more on autos, building materials, and clothing in may. the dow rose nearly 39 points the s&p was 3 points higher and the nasdaq gained 5 points. net neutrality rules agreed to by the fcc last february will take effect today as scheduled. a federal court ruled against a block in a suit by at&t, verizon, and others. the rules are designed to prevent service providers like verizon and at&t from creating a

fast lane for internet users. whole foods says it will call its new chain of smaller lower priced stores 365 by whole foods market. 365 everyday value is the name of its house brand. those products will anchor the stores, but national brands will also be sold. the chain is scheduled to open next year. oculus officially unveiled its rift virtual reality headset. it's expected to go on sale the first quarter of next year. rift straps over the user's eyes producing a 3-d environment that initially will be used for gaming but ultimately networking. the head set comes with removable headphones ss so users can have their own and a wireless game controller. and folks in nashville can use uber to hail a helicopter. it's offering uber chopper, a musical service to the musical festival to bon roo and arts festival. the ride is $1,500.

the first three games of the series lebron james struggles to earn 24 points on 27 for 22 shooting. meanwhile stephen curry finds his touch. he scores 22 points and golden state runs way with 103-82 win. things got even worse for james. he's cut and bloody on his head when he dives for a loose ball and slams into a camera. >> i was holding my head. it was hurting. and i was just hoping i wasn't bleeding, but obviously the camera, you know, cut me pretty bad. i already got the stitches. obviously you can't see them. >> game five is sunday night in oakland. in baseball, an umpire plays peacekeeper during a tense moment. atlanta's julio teheran hit matt kemp with a ball. he angers him and stares him down. that's when the benches clear. watch what happens as kemp tries to go after him.

jordan baker knocks kemp to the ground. things eventually cooled off and no one was ejected. the padres end up beating the braves, 6-4. the pittsburgh affiliate is paying tribute to mister rogers. they'll wear a cardigan sweater and tie. the team will wear the sweaters on july 5th and they're asking fans coming to the games to donate new or gently used sweaters. and his name is dusty reynolds. in the wring he went by dusty rhodes. in wrestling he's known as american dream. >> dusty died wednesday according to wwe. he helped them take off in the '70s and '80s. he was a mentor to wrestlers.
