connected to a woman's death in a jail cell is raising new questions about her arrest. some say tarksit appears to be altered. it shows a trooper pulling sanda bland over and arresting her. she was found hanged in her jail cell three days later. >> in one instance the car repeatedly comes into view and then disappears. in the last hour the texas department of public safety said it was not edited. they explain technical problems. and the fbi has been asked to investigate the video. sherry williams of khou is in houston with more on the controversial footage. >> 25 minutes into the dash cam video which shows sandra bland's arrest, a man exits the tow truck. the trooper can be heard in the background. >> she started doing this is an m-f and you gave me a ticket for

a lane change. >> it shows the officer pulling bland over for failing to signal while changing lanes. the officer prepares to write her a ticket. >> you seem irritated. >> i really am. >> the officer asked her to put out her cigarette. she refuses. he asked her to step out of the car. she refuses. >> get out of the car. i'm going to get you out of here. >> do not touch me. i'm not under arrest. >> you are under arrest. >> for what? >> the officer unholsters his taser and aims it at her. >> get out of the car! i will light you up. >> wow! >> get out of the car! >> reporter: the officer places her in handcuffs. their voices are still recorded off camera. >> you're about to break my wrist. stop! you're about to break my wrist.

stop! >> stop now! >> in an affidavit released yesterday, they claim bland began swinging her elbows and kicked my right leg in the shin. bland was arrested and spent 3 days in jail trying to raise $5,000 from her family to post bond. on july 13th she was found dead in her jail cell with a plastic bag around her neck. >> once you see what occurred you will probably agree with me. she did not believe this. >> the arresting trooper has been placed on administrative leave. he violated procedures for making a traffic stop. the waller county texas district attorney says this is being investigated as a homicide. at a memorial last night, sandra bland's mother said her daughter would not have committed suicide. she said her daughter was murdered. >> still many questions there.

thank you. donald trump is escalating his feud with his gop rivals. the billionaire presidential candidate got personal yesterday. he even gave out the cell phone number of senator lindsey graham at a rally. nancy cordes was there. good morning. >> reporter: this tension between donald trump and his rivals has been building for a while and it finally boiled over yesterday. what we still don't know is if everyone's gotten it out of their systems ss or if this tone is here to stay. >> what a stiff, lindsey graham. >> in success is trump went after the state a senior senator several times. >> he doesn't seem like a bright guy. in the private sector he couldn't get a job. by the way, he's registered zero in the polls. >> graham had called him names on "cbs this morning."

stupid, stupid people. >> and foreign policy. >> i'm the only one that said don't do iraq. if you look at reuters, july 2004, headline trump said don't do iraq. and i'm the most militaristic person ever. >> the trump campaign confurms he'll be going to laredo texas, tomorrow, to discuss border security. he's going to be honored by the border patrol there but he has a history of exaggerating some of the details of his campaign events. john dickerson is cbs news political director with us from the "face the nation" set in washington. what's the political fallout of all ofis? who wins? who loses? where does it go? >> at the moment donald trump is winning. polls are showing he's at the top. we've seen this before where there have been flash in the pan candidates during the summer. we don't know whether that's what he is.

the people losing at the moment are not the ones he's criticizing. he's been trashing reagan's old commandment which is thou shall not speak ill of another republican. he torched that months ago. the people far back who need more oxygen and need to be in the news cycle are the ones really losing at the moment. >> what's the best way for his rivals to handle him? >> some need to just ignore him and go about the business of stag focused. that means raising money and figuring ote inging out your message. building an organization. if you really catch fire you'll need an organization to deliver the votes. there are a few candidates who have to choose if they want to use him as a foil to lift themselves up by attacking him or attacking what he stands for. you've seen lindsey graham do a little bit of that. those are the two routes people

should take. >> virtually overshadowed john kasich's announcement. he has a serious policy background. and the first republican debate will be in ohio and it's not clear their own governor will be able to partic pat. >> if you look at the presidency like a job interview, which is sort of the way trump talks about it the private sector. who has the talents and skills for the office and that the office requires john kasich would look pretty good on paper. he's popular, a governor head of the budget committee in washington the last time a budget was balanced. has experience on the armed services committee. he has credentials on paper that if this were a job interview n not so much of an entertainment show kasich would be doing better than donald trump. >> we'll be watching. john dickerson, thank you. federal officials are investigateing a new round of laser strikes targeting planes.

three of them were close together. there were no injuries. video from the fbi shows how lasers can affect pilots' vision especially at night. last week at least a dozen pilots reported seeing lasers. it's a felony with a maximum sentence of 20 years. crews are battling a massive warehouse fire in new jersey. it is southwest of new york city and is snarling traffic on a major highway. police e evacuated residents from a nearby apartment building. hussein al fadhli knew about 9/11 before the attacks. the successful air strike follows a hunt lasting years. holly williams is in istanbul, turkey, with the takedown.

>> reporter: good morning. u.s. officials say al fadhli was the leader of an al qaeda cell made up of a dozen operatives trying to recruit american and european citizens to carry out attacks on the west. the pentagon says al fadhli was kills by a u.s. air strike while traveling in northern jair on july 8th. that's the same day this video was posted on the internet. apparently showing an incinerated car in which it's claimed a senior al qaeda official was explain by an air strike. the u.s. had a $7 million bounty on al fadhli who was born in kuwait and who the pentagon says was one of just a few al qaeda leaders with prior knowledge of the september 11th attacks. a pentagon spokesperson said that al fadhli's death will degrade and disrupt al qaeda's

operation. but foreign policy expert james carafano believes the impact will be minimal. >> to be honest i don't think it's a big deal. what do we practically see on the ground? isis and al qaeda loan more territory to them than we've seen. we see more terrorist plots aimed against the united states than we've ever seen. >> reporter: they began strikes against the khorasan group last year but the organization remains mysterious and some in syria even question its existence existence. the al nusra front is popular with many syrians because its focus had been fighting the regime in the country's chaotic civil war. u.s. intelligence has been tracking al fadhli for at least a decade. it thought he was the target of an earlier air strike in september last year.

retired marine joey jones thinks the commander in chief owes an explanation. >> the flags should have been half-staff days ago. i think that my leader my president should explain that to me communicate it to me as both a civilian and also someone directly connected by this tragedy. >> hours before the president's order, republican leaders in congress took action on their own. they ordered the capitol flag lowered. white house sources say there were questions about whether the number of victims warranted lowering the flag. ash carter made a brief visit to saudi arabia this morning. it was his latest tour. saudi arabia is critical of the agreement. the accord lifts sanctions as iran gives up the means to make nuclear weapons. they are spending heavily to lobby republicans and public opinion against the deal. some groups will buy up to $40 million in tv commercials, social media and websites that's

its prime? can it really lower its prices without making a dime? that's ahead. britain's "telegraph" reports on a delivery driver charged with allegedly trying to carry out a terror attack on servicemen. he's suspected of monitoring two american air bases in england. the plot was said to be in an advanced stage. he allegedly planned to stage a car crash by either running over airmen or crashing into their vehicle. he would then attack them with a knife and detonate a suicide vest. "the new york times" says bill cosby claims he's being smear. in that case he's accused of drugging and molesting a woman. on tuesday cosby's lawyers filed a motion to prevent the release of the rest of this deposition.

saying you can't go from the head unit to the driver's seat. well, it appears they were wrong. >> we're killing the engine right now. >> actually it's accelerated. it says 43 miles an hour, but i'm not going that fast. >> reporter: cyber security experts showed they can remotely hack this jeep driven by a reporter from "wired" pro produced this video and posted it on their website tuesday. >> we were able to access the jeep cherokee over its 3g connection. >> the pair who work as ethical hackers were working miles away

i'm kiet do live in the city of hayward where police would not confirm any reports that an officer had died in an overnight shooting only saying that the officer's condition hasn't been told to family members and that this is a difficult day for the police department. neighbors tell us around 3:15 this morning someone was heard spinning donuts in the neighborhood. two officers arrived tried to make a car stop on lion near myrtle. shots were fired. one officer went down. not clear how the officer was injured. the suspect then fled the scene. a vehicle matching the description was found in oakland and it had four bullet holes in the side. the officer taken to eden medical center. there is a heavy presence of police officers there, as well. about 40 families are on lockdown in

in our "morning rounds," new hope in the fight against alds hiemer's. more than 5 million americans live with this devastating illness. an experimental drug that may for the first time attack the underlying cause and slow its progress. our dr. david agus is in las vegas. tell us about this new drug. >> it's a new drug a name that rolls off your tongue. it's an and body that binds amyloid which is the protein that accumulates in the brain. by binding in the blood, it can slower the progression of the disease. it's not dramatic. in the course of the study over two years, there was a slight decline in how the patients lost memory function. it's really the first drug to hit the underlying cause of the disease rather than symptoms of

the disease. there's excitement and hope two words you never hear with alzheimer's. >> has this drug been used in any other way? >> it was used in two previous trials in old alzheimer's and it only worked in patients with mild disease. the trial was extended in those patients. that's where we sea the benefit, an intravenous infusion given every four weeks. >> what are the side effects, david? >> there aren't a lot of side effects. there may be cardiac side effects. it's well tolerated. obviously a pain to go in for an iv every four weeks, but for this disease very exciting. it validates the amyloid hypothesis. an experiment done in mice earlier this year they took ultrasound and changed the brain and reduced the amyloid in the brain. while that was only in mice there's certainly hope these things can be tried in patients very soon. >> how soon? >> the trials in patients are on going.

this trial with this drug is in a second phase three trial. we'll know the answer in 2016 next year. so there's a lot happening now but obviously a year is too late for many people because there are millions suffering from this disease. >> david, i'm reading this story in the paper tore day that women's dementia worsens faster than men's. why is that? and what does it mean to study men and women differently? >> a very interesting study. pre alzheimer's, so losing memory function they decline twice as fast to alzheimer's as men. men and women have different brains, which obviously we no. estrogen may have a different effect protecting from alzheimer's. as you go through menopause, it drops precipitously. the more we learn, the better we can attack these horrible diseases. >> women are living longer too. >> thank you dr. david agus. good to see you.

good morning, i'm kiet do we're live here in hayward at the scene of the police- involved shooting high level police source saying the officer died at the scene. we have a live picture from chopper 5 showing eden medical center. this is where the officer was taken early this morning. the hayward police department has not official lip confirmed the reports -- not officially confirmed the reports of his death only saying it's a difficult day for the department. a heavy presence of officers is lined up at the hospital. at 3:15 neighbors reported hearing someone spinning donuts in the neighborhood. two officers tried to make a car stop on lion and myrtle street. one officer went down when shots were fired. the suspect fled. a vehicle matching the description was found in oakland with four bullet holes in the side. this neighborhood has been shut down now about three streets blocked off 40 families in lockdown since 3 a.m. there was a press conference
