it was felt from marin county to the east bay to the peninsula. people called the news room reporting feeling that jolt. did not last long, though. just after 1:30 this afternoon. there is a 1 in 5 chance that the fault will have a quake in the next 2 decades. breaking news now, another fire ignited in lake hunt county. firefighters say it is well over 100 acres now and spreading fast. and, this is a picture of the fire taken from a distance. you can see it is quite big by the size of the smoke plume. a few minutes ago, firefighters told us they expect to be on this one for an extended period of time. we will have more on the fire tonight. it is the final day of outside lands. the 3-day music festival is wrapping up with a bang. we are live in golden gate park where some of the biggest names

in music are closing out the show tonight. christian? >> reporter: that is right. parking is definitely a premium out here again. coming out in this area. good luck finding anything remotely close to the golden gate park area. well, today, obviously, the final day for what has been a wild weekend for music lovers. elton john and sam smith are the headline act for the final day. sam smith is playing right now as we speak. around 60,000 people showed up each day starting on friday. many of them showing up all three days. >> i love that there is food, beer, cheese, wine and music and art. anything goes. anything goes. whatever you want to do. nice diverse acceptable crowd, music is amazing. not so hot today. >> reporter: a lot of people having fun today. some some people coming here hoping to score last-minute tickets. definitely paid the price for that. we spoke with two young women who paid $400 for 2 tickets

that ended up being fake. >> oh our hearts fell through. we walk through and it is just like -- we got so caught off guard i can not even tell you. a kid walking into a candy store thinking he has $100 and he swipes his credit card and there is 0. [ laughter ] >> well, sfpd has been dealing with people hopping fences and get in illegally as well as ticket scalpes. today there was an incident. one guy, a man, attempted to run passed a couple security officers. a couple police officers, rather, ran into one of the police officers, that officer fell back and hit his head. knocked unconconscientious for a period of time. that officer is okay right now. the man has been arrested and he is face -- unconscious for a period of time and that officer is okay right now. the man has been arrested and he is facing charges. the police are trying to solve a smash and grab robbery.

they broke into 9 offices in evans hall. got away with computers. the officers are located on the 9th floor. not clear how they got in. the police say they found a smashed window in the area. there has been a spike in window smashing burglaries recently. >> the police in the south bay spent the night searching for one of their own. a k-9 escaped. nico, pictured here after he was reunited here. they don't know how nico got out at 11:00 last night from his handler's home. three departments pitched if to find the dog. he was spotted this morning. >> he is one of ours. we are just relieved that everybody is safe and sound including our dog. >> the police say they are looking into how the dog escaped so it does not happen again. it was the handler's first time working with a k-9. oakland a's saluted hayward police certainty before today's game. a jersey with his name and

badge number hung in the team's dug out before the game got underway. his family was presented with a's jerseys and 3 of them got to throw out the first pitch. one of the pitches was caught by former oakland outfielder rickey henderson. the sergeant's favorite player. he was killed in hayward while conducting a traffic stop on july 22nd. the police in los angeles are searching for a man who left his family behind after a car crash. it happened last night at this intersection in hollywood. a total of 7 people were hurt in the collision including two small children. the police say one of the injured is a 1-month-old boy. they say the man who took off running is the one that caused the crash. he left 3 family members behind. they were not hurt. the police are currently interviewing them tesla is opening a new store.

tonight, tragedy on the frontlines of a wildfire in the sierra. the forest service says a firefighter has been killed. the sierra fire is burning near lake tahoe. the u.s. forest service says the accident happened while crews were battling the flames in a remote area. a tree fell on him. >> the firefighting family is a tight knit family and this ripples through that group and then our larger office as a whole. expressions of sympathy and grief we had today from all of our colleagues all over the region. it is the loss of one of our own. >> a second firefighter was also hurt. the officials say he has been

treated and released from the hospital. more than 2,000 firefighters are still working the rocky fire in lake county. but, nearby communities are no longer in danger. the flames are now 70% contained and all evacuations have been lifted. the fire has burned more than 69,000 acres and destroyed 43 homes. the firefighters hope to have it completely contained by thursday. we are still waiting to see how much federal money california will get to fight the wildfires this season. a dozen fires that burned in california have taxed state resources. kpix5 john ford is on the fire center that coordinates who gets what and where. >> reporter: the california fire situation is complicated. some fires are threatening homes and lives while others burn in hard to reach rugged wilderness. but all together we have a fire season that is on track to burn through half of the annual budget of the national forest service. the resources to fight these

fires is not unlimited. there is only so many bulldozers aircraft and personal available. so, someone, somewhere is deciding which fire gets what. so, who is that person? meet chris. he is the acting deputy director for five and aviation in the pacific southwest for the national forest service. a big title, a big job. extremely busy. >> and right when we came out to visit with you i was getting messages of lightning on the angeles national forest. >> leading a team of agencies, cal-fire, even the pentagon just to name a few. that prioritizes every morning who gets what based on the threat level. >> when -- when it is our firefighters, when they are physical he threatened by fire that is highest priority. property comes next, our natural recourses and infrastructure follow after that. >> reporter: that mean ace fire in rugged terrain wilderness while still being
