the view of the mangled mess. kids around 8 years old were on their way to oakland for a field trip when the crash happened. some of the injured kids were sent to children's hospital oakland. they suffered minor cuts and bruises. crash happened around 10 a.m. near the ashby avenue onramp. there were about 50 students on the bus at the time. at least five other cars were involved in the crash. at one point traffic had to sweep past the wreckage in single file. all lanes reopened about an hour ago. a fast moving fire destroyed two businesses in san leandro. now federal agents have been called in to investigate. >> firefighters are busy putting out hot spots but they're doing it from outside of what used to be a market and a medical supply company. that's because they're worried the front of the building might collapse. >> desiree german was sound asleep when she woke up startled around 2:30 this

morning. >> i heard banging and i looked outside and the cops were just banging on people's doors and telling us to get out. >> german's apartment is right behind the marina market on the corner of doolittle. >> once firefighters got to the scene there was an explosion and the fire quickly grew to 4 alarms. this is an older building with double roofs, so when the fire spread to the attic, the fire chief says they had a challenging time getting the fire out. most of the damage is in the marina market which is where the fire chief believes it started. but thrifty medical supply next to it is heavily damaged. one of the owners says it's been around for 30 years and his family bought it in 2006. >> it's devastating, it definitely is. we just hope everything's -- we heard that everyone was all right so that's the most important thing. >> he jumped out of bed and drove here as soon as he heard about the fire. he had a hard time watching his

family business get destroyed by fire. >> red tags are now outside the building, and investigators are here trying to determine what started this fire. in san leandro, lisa khan. in oakland an early morning fire tore through a home under construction and threatened two others. it happened on 72nd avenue east of the coliseum. the flames even scorched some power lines. fire crews have the blaze under control. a neighboring homeowner cannot return because of smoke damage. new wildfire raging out of control in northern california this noon. the jerusalem fire is burning a few miles southeast of the much larger rocky fire up in lake county. mandatory evacuations underway for people living in that area. it all started yesterday afternoon quickly spread to 5,000 acres. it moved so quickly cal fire pulled crews off the rocky fire to assist.

right now it is zero percent contained. >> initially moved north and northeast. fire is currently moving in an eastward direction. don't have an exact number of people evacuated but the entire area off jerusalem great road and subsidiary roads, all that's been ordered evacuated. >> lake county fire investigators have made an arson arrest but say it is not connected to the recent blazes. the rocky fire scorched nearly 70,000 acres. containment is now at 85% with full containment expected in the next few days. all evacuation orders have been lifted. and a firefighter has died battling the flames. mike halenback died saturday. the u.s. forest says a large tree fell on the 21-year-old volunteer. n the 21-year-old >> he had that desire to contribute, and so if that's any comfort, he lost his life making a real different for all

of us here in bay, a very close group that worked together, and the loss of one person reverberates through my entire office and agency. >> governor brown ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of halenback, he is the second u.s. forest firefighter killed in the line of duty in the past two weeks. san jose police at the scene of a fatal shooting. there were reports of intoxicated man with a gun there. during the confrontation police opened fire. the man then retreated into the home. he was later found dead inside but it's not clear if his wounds were self-inflighted. six hours earlier san jose officers did shoot and kill a man. they were responding to a stabbing near virginia and 34th street about 6 last night. they found a suspect with a knife nearby. during a scuffle with officers. he was fatally shot. police in ferguson missouri

shot a man during protests marking the one-year anniversary of michael brown's death. cbs's don champion says the shooting ended what was a weekend of peaceful protests. crime scene tape marks the area where investigators are looking for shell casings following a gun battle overnight in ferguson, missouri. the gunfire erupted between two small groups as interim police chief andre anderson was being interviewed down the street. panicked bystanders took cover behind cars and buildings. police say up to 50 shots were fired. >> it was a remarkable amount of gunfire. >> plain clothes police officers caught up with one suspect here near an old restaurant. investigators say he started shooting into an unmarked police van, and they returned fire. the gunman ran and more shots were exchanged. >> there were four officers who were in that van. all four fired at the suspect, and the suspect fell there. >> this video shows the suspect

injured face down on the ground in a parking lot. >> get him some help, man. please get him some help. >> the incident happened hours after more than a thousand people marched from the spot where unarmed michael brown junior was fatally shot by a white police officer last year. his death sparked a black lives matter movement. some community leaders criticizing the police department for using plain clothes officers during the protest. don champion cbs news ferguson missouri. >> the officers involved are on administrative paid leave. we're learning one of the victims of a mass murder in houston was texting her mother just before she was killed. valerie jackson told her mom she was being held at gunpoint. her mother who lived in another state called 9-1-1 but it was too late. jackson her husband and six children were found dead. the man accused in the crime made his first court appearance this morning. david conley surrendered to police at the scene. coming up next, a casualty in the trump camp, what his comments about women have cost

rallies. disney apologizing for an ill-timed tweet. it wished its followers a very merry unbirthday to you. it's a line from the song alice and wonderland but translated in japanese it's congratulations on a not special day. yesterday was the 70th anniversary of the bombing of nagasaki. disney apologized and promised to be more careful in the future. a revamped diet pepsi hit store shelves. the new diet pepsi is made without aspartame. the company is replacing it with another artificial sweetener. the rollout of aspartame free diet pepsi will now test the theory the sweetener is to blame for fleeing customers or if there's another issue at fault. half a million baby clothes have been pulled from shelves after a design defect was discovered. precious cargo recalled its infant onesies because of a potential choking hazard. parents are advised to return the clothing for a full refund.

today is the last day cars will be allow today make turns on to parts of market street in san francisco. starting tomorrow cars will not be allowed to turn on to market from cross streets between 3rd and 8th. muni taxis and emergency vehicles are exempt but not ride shares. it's part of the safer market street project aimed at improving safety for pedestrians. and drivers may have noticed a change at the pump, although it goes up and down all the time right. gas prices have gone down all over california, and according to gasbuddy.com prices are down $0.10 since last week. every penny counts. in san jose the average is 3.36. in oakland 3.39 and in san francisco it is 3.48. golden gate ferry riders should expect delays in the coming weeks because of construction projects and drudging in the bay. delays should be limited to 10 to 15 minutes. time for weather, sunshine, a little cloud cover but it's warming up. >> our weather watchers get to

see more than i do since i'm inside the studio. let's see what's going on in and around our micro climates. 60s, 70s, and 80s. deena in innovate novato reporting 79 degrees. these clouds are all associated with a very vigorous deck of low clouds and fog just hanging tight to the coast. trying to surge into the bay. we are currently at 76 degrees in concord where the winds have been gusting up to 22 and 25 miles per hour. quite a breezy afternoon. in fact, right now wind speeds up to 17 in san ramon, also in the concord area. fremont at 12, 13 and san rafael is pretty brisk in fairfield with the west, southwest wind at 24 miles per hour. the coast is not clear. it's socked in. this is the view from sausalito trying to look out towards san francisco, equally as gray. meanwhile as we take a bird's eye view from the lawrence hall

of science in berkeley you can see blue sky out there and also that marine layer. temperatures below average because of this right here, an area of low pressure is beginning to pull down cooler air masses as it descends in a southerly direction. then we're going to warm up by the end of the week from a blast of heat from the desert trying to move back into the bay area 88 degrees, currently at 76 in sacramento. it is currently 64 going up to 70 in monterey bay. sunsets at 8:09, and by the time that happens, we'll see temperatures from the 60s near 70 at the beaches, low 70s bay side, approaching 80 in mountain view and 79 degrees in livermore. that's 10 degrees cooler than what we experienced yesterday. trough produces equally as cool conditions on tuesday, and then high pressure nestles into the bay area nearly 100 degrees by saturday. >> that would be the weekend right? >> summer's taking a little bit of a vacation right now.
