the skyline of san francisco looking back from twin peak smoke from wildfires cover e bay area for a second day. but there is good news on t horizon. good evening, i'm brian hac. and i'm juliette goodrich. hazy skies and the smell of burning brush throughout thy area for a second day. take look at san francisco -- ba visible in all that muck. t smoke is not from any firesn the bay area. it's from the good evening. dirty skies out there. take a look at san francisco, look at it. the smoke is not from fires in the bay area it is from the fires in lake county and farther north blowing our way. air quality control says the pollution will remain elevated throughout the most of the day

and tomorrow. people who are sensitive to the smoke should stay indoors. a woman decided not to go jogging because of the bad area. >> i notice the smell, i am aware that it is not good for your lungs. >> my buddy that lives in walnut creek, he put up facebook posts on it saying it smells bad outside, maybe not in those words. [ laughter ] >> another spare the air day issued because of the smoke. people are advised to limit activity in the unhealthy conditions and refrain from bbqing and limit driving. so, here is how it looks this in outer parts of the bay area today. this is the view from our camera. the yellowish tint is noticeable. and from our camera, you can see conditions there worse. the haze is much thicker and towards the central valley. high temperature records were broken in the bay area today and spare the air alerts broadcast, it is all happening because of a double barrel high

over the pacific and the western u.s., driving smoke into the bay area from trinity county fires. it is trapping pollution and snapping records for the second day in a row. we hit record high temperatures, 103 in concord, 104 in livermore. 102 in san francisco. sanfrancisco with that 90 degrees by noon. that broke a record that stood for 65 years. speaking of the heat, christian heartman is in walnut creek where it is over 100 degrees there. christian? >> >> reporter: yes, hot out here at walnut creek. still in the triple digits. we near the shade swrefplt been for awhile. the shade is doing you no help. -- we are near the shade, we have been here away. the shade is doing you no help. it teams like summer. if you like the hot weather it is good for you. a lot of people are fighting

for shade and accepting on drink. a lot of people miserable. >> i am dying of sweat. >> are you going into apple. >> that is cool. yes, i am running from store to store for air-conditioning. >> reporter: if you are looking for a break from the heat by going to san francisco like people do, you are not going to get too much of a break out there. still very hot in san francisco right now. luckily only one more day of this extreme heat and then it will normallize to normal hot weather. people who were evacuated because of the jerusalem fire they are being told they can go back home but watch out for downed power lines. burned tree limbs are a problem, they can break off and fall. the fire is 82% contained. four homes destroyed. firefighters are keeping an eye on 50 others in case it shifts

directions. 25,000 acres burned. four people are dead after two planes collided midair over san diego. happened at 11:00 this morning. a twin engine and a single engine plane were near brown field airport in southern san diego when they collided. wreckage was scattered a quarter of a mile in rural park of san diego. >> no one was transported to the hospital from the plane. the four people woe know were all fatal-- people we know were all fatal. we can not confirm where the four passengers came from. obviously we know one was in each aircraft. >> the faa and ntsb is looking at how the collision happened. crumbling roads and weakening bridges will be top of topics when the legislature gets to work this week.
