the daily show host takes a hit from one of pro wrestling biggest stars. this is the "cbs morning news" for tuesday, august 25th, 2015. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. one wall street analyst summed up yesterday's stock roller coaster this way. there is a lot of fear in the markets. wall street was clobbered by a stunning sell-off that started in china and spread to markets worldwide. this morning, china's main stock index collapsed again. china shanghai composite index nose-dived for the third day in a row losing over 7.5% of its value. japan's nikkei lost 4% of its value. yesterday, the dow jones industrials closed 588 points lower, the s&p 500, slid 77 points. the nasdaq we will 179. jill wagner it he is new york

indy officials say he was respected by teammates and officials alike. >> justin's elite ability to drive a race car was matched by his unwavering kindness and character and humility. >> he is the first indy car driver to die electric an on-track accident since 2011. wilson was 37 years old and he is fifed survived by a wife and daughters. this wildfire season is shaping up to be one of the worst on record. so far across the west 600 square miles have burned and the most burned by this state in a fire season in a decade. in washington the biggest fire in the state history has burned at least 400 square miles and destroyed 200 homes. some residents ignored evacuation orders to save their homes. >> fire was coming from that way, 40-mile-an-hour winds and i didn't think there was any hope. >> active duty soldiers, as well as firefighters from australia

a utah woman led police on a dangerous high-speed chase down an interstate. dash cam shows natalie peterson weaving in and out of traffic and at one point she ran on the wrong side of the highway. a trooper rammed the car and caused it to rollover. police arrested peterson when she tried to carjack other drivers. they believe she was on drugs and suffering from a mental illness. police recognize a man who helped capture a trooper. steven vincent arrived on the scene of a truck in a ditch sunday. police say the truck's driver kevin daigle shot the trooper and he later today. robert ladoux was driving near the scene and despite warngs warnings he ran up and subdued the suspect. >> he ran up and without anything happening, guns,

whatever, he just wanted to get to our trooper. this is a hero right here. >> daigle faces first-degree murder charge. his roommate was found dead on monday and police say he is a suspect in that case also. more fallout. canadian police say the postings of users' information has led to contortion crimes in two unreported cases of suicide. last week, hackers released the profile information of more than 30 million users and included hundreds of u.s. federal workers. the website's mission is to set up extramarital affairs. a fraternity at one new jersey college is suspended over sexually suggested banners and many new members lived, one read freshman daughter drop-off with an arrow pointing toward the house's door.

in kansas. a police officer stopped a suspicious man walking a dog sunday. the man started hitting the cop. actually, swinging his dog by its leash, using the dog as a weapon against the officer. backup later arrived and helped to arrest the man and the dog was taken to an animal shelter. california lawmakers are taking steps to rein in the use of drones. they advanced two bills off contraband in a state prison. they were arrested saturday. police say they plan toned to drugs and tobacco into the facility. an inmate is suspected of collaborating with the men.

an canine helped led rescuers to the boy's location. chris miller of our salt lake city affiliate reports. >> reporter: family rushes to meet 10-year-old malachi bradley. he is carried off a search helicopter by a rescuer who picked him up after he wandered away from family on sunday morning. rescuers say it was this small dog that ultimately found his scent and let rescuers to his side. after spending 28 hours lost in the cold, wet mountains, malachi had this to say. >> it was really fun. literally 30 miles. >> reporter: he was fishing with his family and having already caught a fish, he was doing some

six people are hurt after a casino bus slammed into a new york city building. the driver swerved to avoid hitting a car in queens. the bus crashed into the three-story brick building and caused extensive damage. the driver, four passengers, and a person inside the building were hurt. but are expected to survive. an unusual new world record appears to have been set by a teenager in michigan. it combines two talents, not often seen together, and neither

is easy to master. aaron demic of our affiliate in calla ma cal a mizzou on, michigan, has the story. >> reporter: he dreamed of having his name in the guinness's book of world records. he could solve a rubik's cube in minutes and riding a unicycle. >> i noticed in a record book one of the world records. >> reporter: the 14-year-old got to work right away, going through six months of mental and physical training. >> quite the multitask. it takes a while of riding, falling off, and doing that for a long time before you can find your balance and be able to keep going. >> reporter: august 15th was truly a day for the history books. the community gathered to support stuart challenging the record. the rules stated he had to ride his unicycle while solving as

many rubik's cube as he could. if he fell off, he had to start over again. stuart kept his cool playing cube after cube. >> the crowd there was really supportive. whenever i came around near them, they would start cheering. >> reporter: the previous record was 28. stuart far surpassed that, completing a total of 80 cubes in under an hour. local authorities confirmed the results and stuart became a world champion. >> he's officially amazing! >> woo! >> it felt amazing. like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. i had a lot of people come up to me and say congratulations and good job on the record. it's really nice. >> reporter: so what is next for stuart? >> i think i'm good on crazy accomplishments for now. unless i see something else in the record books that strikes me eye. >> guinness still has to confirm it is a new record. coming up after your local news on "cbs this morning," we will look what is ahead for investors after the wild ride on
