canceled fare. good evening, i'm juliette goodrich. an uber driver accused of threatening a passenger over a canceled fare. good evening to you. i'm juliette goodrich. brian is on assignment. some uber drivers are in the middle of a work stoppage. they kicked off a strike yesterday. uber drivers are demanding a 60% rate hike and a tipping option on thal. meanwhile the company is dealing with a serious complaint. kpix 5's mark kelly says a passenger is accusing a uber driver of threatening to rape and kill her. >> after a night out with friends this woman hailed an

uber. >> i was tired. i just wanted to get home. >> reporter: but she says the angry driver on the other end of the phone had a clear and terrifying threat waiting for her. >> i'm going to find you, i'm going to rape you, and i'm going to kill you. i've had people say weird things to me before, but this had a different tenor in a way that made me feel like it was a real threat. >> reporter: apparently the driver couldn't find her. she was waiting for him on that corner, but apparently he was lacking on that correspond. >> he was very angry and started swearing immediately. >> i said, i'm not comfortable, let's just cancel the ride. >> reporter: she says the driver eventually drove off, and uber released this statement saying in part, we want to offer our deep apologies to our rider. the driver's access to you know

hear been permanently removed. as for eve, she doesn't plan to sue. she just wants others to hear her cautionary tale. >> if you let them do that, you're just letting that person do that to someone else. >> eve did call 911 and police came but the driver had left. she filed a police report. police in south san francisco say a fight over a park space turned into what they're calling a terrorist threat. they say a man flashed a gun during an argument over a parking spot in the 1600 block of el camino real. the suspect took off when someone threatened to call police. officers are still looking for the man driving an older model black four door. a robbery in modesto turned deadly today. police officer jumped into action after he saw the suspect robbing a nearby store. several shots were fired near the gas station. the suspect was fatal ally wounded -- was fatally wounded.

it happened just after 5:30 a.m. near east briggsmore avenue and cross road. i-5 is opened again after tore rential mudslides buried cars in muck up to the roof. some 200 vehicles were stranded but incredibly, no injuries. it's expected to take weeks to clean up the areas hardest hit north of los angeles. the i-5 stretch called the grapevine wasn't the only highway impacted. highway 58 to the east near the city of mojave also saw some terrifying mudslides and remains closed. but now we're seeing some of the firsthand experiences of the drivers nearly washed away. reporter carter evans shows us one trucker's very close call. >> reporter: this driver's cell phone captures the sudden

terror as thursday's cloudburst turned a highway interest a swirling field of debris that trapped 20 vehicles. >> as you can see from the vehicles behind me they're buried, the windows are down, but they're buried up to the top of the doors. it had to be quite frightening. >> reporter: this family says there was no time to react. melissa says she just picked up her kids from school when the mountain gave way. >> we thought we were going to get buried alive in the mud. we just thought it was done. the mud was coming down so fast, and the car filled up so fast. >> it was terrifying, when the hill gave out and the road was just gone. >> reporter: authorities say more than 100 children were among those stuck on busy interstate 5 when the highway was blocked by mud. they continued searching through stuck vehicles friday to confirm everyone got out safely. >> there were vehicles pushed bey the mud flows up or under

18-wheelers up there. >> reporter: trucker john says the cars around him were no match for mud. >> reporter: did your truck float around at all? >> no. i watched the cars float bey. all them cars, they were back there, then they all floated by. >> one lady looked like she was driving down a lake. >> reporter: in the aftermath, some 300,000 cubic yards of debris will have to be cleared. that's enough to fill 30 dump trucks. >> if this is a preview of el nino, i want to be inside my house when el nino hits. >> it just kept raining and the mud just started coming towards us. >> oh my god! we're floating! >> oh my god! >> a woman in another car on highway 58 also captures the frightening minutes as they were lifting bey the rising river of mud and carried away.

>> it just started floating and banging into cars. >> we're in trouble now. we're gonna hit! >> i was not sure whether we were going to make it out of there. it looked like there were cars going to float over the wall. it was really horrifying. >> ray says when the rain stopped, they crawled out of their trapped car and began slogging through the muck. she says took hours to get to solid ground. >> oh my god! >> and a rescue captured on cell phone video. a man is seen pulling his girlfriend to safety from that same mud flow on highway 58. he says they climbed out of their car as the water began to rise but getting to safety through the slippery mud was a struggle. fortunately they both made it, and no injuries. well, rain here was a welcome sight. brian is watching the weather and hanging out with some pretty impressive hardware.

today after a seri lving israelis. re the violence continues to escalate in israel. five palestinians were shot after a series of stabbings involving israelis. one of those stabbed was a police officer. >> reporter: the violence started early friday morning. dozens of palestinians set fire to joseph's tomb in the west bank, a sacred jewish site. by the afternoon palestinian protesters were in the streets throwing stones and molotov cocktails at israeli troops who were too far away to hit but

close enough to taunt. this scene in bethlehem was fueled by hamas' call for a day of rage following friday prayers. israelis fired 20 cannisters of gas, and it worked. hundreds fled in this direction as now the troops here move closer in. in all, israeli police say four palestinians were killed yesterday, three during protests, and this man, who officials say disguised himself as a news photographer, and then stabbed a police officer in hebron. the stabbings began three weeks ago, sparked by rumors israelis wanted to limit palestinian access to the reveered mosque. with each new attack comes renewed fear. >> even in my home i always close the door. maybe some terrorist will come and assassinate me. >> reporter: the second attack

targeted a civilian. he was armed and fired back and killed his attacker. >> hundreds of mourners gathered in turkey today to remember victims killed during a terrorist attack one week ago. more than 100 people died when two bombs exploded during a peace rally in the capital. the bombings are considered the worst terrorist attack in the country's history. well, it's the end of an era for u.s. airways. the airline has completed its final flight. an airbus jet landed in philadelphia this morning after take off from sfo. future flights will fly under american airlines, now that their merger is complete. u.s. airways be gab operating in 1939 out of pittsburgh, and this last flight fittingly named flight 1939. forget about heavy rain and mudslides. there's another slimy threat

armory. gnats not for the faint of heart and i would not wear nice shoes. >> reporter: it's believed to be the only erotic haunted house in california. so intense, visitors must sign a waiver. >> it's a highly erotic, there's a lot of nudity, but it's also a very dirty and hopefully disgusting ride as well. >> i think that people go through this almost as a challenge to themselves to say cain make it through. this. >> reporter: so i gave at shot with my photographer rachel. we had to wear masks for all the fog. it begins in this smoke-filled room with strobe lights. a walk down the stairs and a dark hallway, holding on to rachel. and then i turned around. so i had to call it quits about two minutes into this because i was scared out of my mind. but i'm told if you make it through, it lasts about 35 minutes. >> we had two people that left in the beginning.

>> i liked having a bag over my head and not knowing what was coming next and being led around. it pushed the boundaries of what you're used to. >> el nino is bringing more than just rain to california. highly venomous snake was spotted at oxnard beach. a surfer captured this picture of the yellow bellied sea snake. some scientists say el nino is to blame. warning signs are posted along the beach. wildlife officials say this is the first time in 30 years the exotic snake has been seen in california. all right, let's head out to brian. countdown to super bowl 112 days. until the big day. >> reporter: all right, i'm glad you got on top of that, ms. goodrich. >> yes, i did. >> reporter: we're out here at home coming. the san jose spartans taking on the aztecs, game time 7:30. we had some interesting weather to talk about.

double barreled low pressure system. you see that low? that is forecast move further south by tomorrow morning so while there's another low off the coast, we're looking for things to remain unsettled through sunday because when that low pressure passes overhead, there's always the chance thundershowers or two, or just a shower could be triggered, but then high pressure builds in bey monday. it is going to be clearing up, and it will be very nice for monday, but some sun, some clouds, and maybe a sprinkle or two. plenty of clouds, some sprinkles, partly cloudy skies with a 20% chance of maybe a shower or two. more sunshine coming in, and it will be warmer on monday. a warm spell for the bay area. heading out of the bay, lake tahoe and yosemite both stand a chance of showers with redding at 75 degrees. 75 for fresno and 67 at monterey. overnight lows, temperatures near 60 degrees, and for tomorrow, santa rosa 71, napa 7
