live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. >> a city on lockdown. americans warned to stay off the streets as buts els goes on its highest -- buts els goes on -- brussels goes on its highest terrorism alert. >> the government is warned of a serious and imminent threat. transportation systems are identified as targets with several attacks planned to happen me same time. >> french police say at least one suspect of the paris attack is still on the run last seen crossing the board entire belgium. authorities in brussels are not taking any chances.

>> reporter: police and soldiers soldiers are on guard across brussels and subways are closed as authorities warn of a terror attack, similar to the ones in paris. they believe shades may be in brussels. -- saleh abdeslam may be in brussels. one reportedly scouted sites targeted in the paris attacks. leanna desalone paid tribute to those killed at the paris theater. >> reporter: she says, we still live in fear with the knowledge the attacker is still out there. >> reporter: they chose the cafe across the street. they say that gave them the extra seconds they needed to survive. the friends heard gunshots and ducked under their table outside just before a gunman opened fire on the cafe,

killing five people. the terrorists' gun apparently jammed and both ran for their lives. [singing] >> reporter: parisians are mourning those who died at memorials around the city. american ricky stevenson lives in paris. >> 2 1/2 million people in paris, and everybody has been touched by the 130 people who lost their lives. >> reporter: she came with friends to deliver a message. [singing] ♪ we shall have no fear ♪ he's going to let it shine ♪ >> the men police believe planned the attacks was killed in a raid in a paris suburb wednesday with another suspect and unidentified person. they say 7 out of 8 people taken into custody during the raid have been released. new video tonight of the aftermath of the attack in mali. the radisson hotel left in

shambles. 19 people were killed when heavy armed islamist extremists opened fire and took hostages in the luxury hotel yesterday. one american woman from the washington, dc, area was also killed. russia released video today it says shows airstrikes on syria earlier this week. the video shows fighter jets in the air along with a bomber. at least one missile is seen being dropped. russia has stepped up up its air campaign learning that isis was behind the group that brought down a plane last month. the debate is raging on about the syrian refugees. republican presidential candidate donald trump said his comment this is week about supporting a government database to track muslims who are mischaracterized. wendy gillette with more on what's being said on the campaign trail ♪ [ music ] ♪ sweet home alabama >> donald trump backed up

comments he made this week about creating a government database to track muslims if elected. when asked about the subject, he said he didn't hear the question clearly and he does want syrian refugees allowed in the u.s. >> i want surveillance of these people. i want surveillance if we have to. and i don't care -- are you ready for this, folks? are you ready? i want surveillance of certain mosques, okay? if that's okay. i want surveillance. [cheers and applause] >> and you know what? we had it before and we'll have it again. >> reporter: john kassig also talked about the issue in new hampshire. >> i don't want syrian refugees to come here now because we don't know who they are. you have to have a sense of who people are before you let them in. >> bill passed. >> reporter: on thursday, the republican-led house easily approved a bill that would suspend a bill of the refugee program in the u.s. president obama has threatened

to veto the measure. >> hello! how are you all doing? >> reporter: he visited a refugee center in malaysia yesterday, trying to keep americans focused on their plight. the united states has promised to take in 10,000 syrian refugees. a big scare in chicago. thick plumes of smoke bellowed out of the hancock center. it was contained about a half hour. but a scary sight. the unit was gutted. five people are being treated for injuries. none of the injuries considered serious. the hancock centers was built in 1970 and has restaurants, offices and condos. well, have we seen the last of colin kaepernick in a 49ers jersey? the team says kaep will have shoulder surgery and his season is over. so what could the future hold for the quarterback? bring on the answers, andrea.

>> reporter: oh, i have the magic, all right. >> many have speculated his days as a 49ers starting quarterback are over. but this injury was a surprise. he was placed on the injury report on friday but was probable in the game against the seahawks. now he's been placed on the season ending injured reserve and will undergo a surgery next week to repair a tear in his left shoulder. he apparently suffered the injury in week 4 against the green bay packers. it got better for a while but came back with the by week with pain in that shoulder. undrafted wilson will step up. the team has until next april to decide whether to trade, release, or pick up his option for next season. >> well, are people saying or suggesting, well, maybe this explains why he was having an off year? >> well, no, i don't think anybody is saying that. >> no? >> there are a lot of people

whole that kaepernick's struggles whether mentally or physically, not being able to perform inside the pocket didn't really have much to do with the shoulder injury. but we'll see. maybe if the 49ers believed that it was related to his injury they'll bring him back for next season. but many do speculate that he is out as the 49ers quarterback. >> andrea, thank you. >> thanks, andrea. a woman walking her dog was killed when a pickup jumped the curb and hit her in san francisco. police are trueing to piece together what happened about 1:00 this afternoon. a witness says it looks like the vehicle did not make an attempt to slow down. the truck wound up in a ditch. the driver was injured and taken to the hospital. they don't think the woman was behind the wheel -- the woman behind the wheel was under the influence. no arrests have been made. we'll have much more on this story and a live report at 6:30 tonight. and two people were taken to the hospital after their car tumbled down a cliff. it happened at about 4:30 this

morning on skyline boulevard near the space center in oakland. police say the car lost control as it rounded a corner and ran off the road. one person broke their leg but both people inside the car expected to recover. well, rising from the rubble. and now the church gets ready to open its doors again a year and a half after a devastating earthquake. >> and dangerous waters for sealife in southern california. another whale is spotted tangled up in fishing line. we'll have that story after our break.

without a home.. napa's "first united methodist chu is finally 15 months after a jilting earthquake left a congregation without a home, napa's first united methodist church is finally ready to open its doors. last year's earthquake left damage outside the 99-year-old building. hammering and hardware have taken the place at the church. after the quake, the walls came apart from the roof. the organ was decimated. and there were so many gas leaks the place hasn't had heat since. after insurance, the church still has to pay more than $550,000 for the reconstruction and retrifit. but the pastor says it's all worth it.

>> when people come through these doors sunday morning and take their seats and look around and see the beauty of this building and also the faces of those who they recognize, who they have worshiped with for years, there will be a true sense of joy deep down inside. >> reporter: the first sermon for the newly reopened napa methodist church takes place tomorrow morning at 9:30. whalewatchers in southern california are on the lookout for a humpback whale entangled in fishing gear. it was spotted yesterday off the orange county coastline. the whale looked like it was tangled up in netting and a buoy. it was spotted to late in the day for a rescue attempt. they think it's the same hatchback it was entangled in netting off the los angeles coast last month. and in aspen today, a great horned owl got through the attic and found its way to the 4th floor hallway. and a cop who actually has experience catching owls was called for help. she was able to grab the bird with a blanket, calm it down.

dinner has broken the $50 mark. a 70-cent increase from last year. well, holiday festivities are taking place right now at pier 39 in san francisco. the tree lighting take place in about 10 minutes from now at 6:00. and this is video from last year. the 60-foot tree is decorated with bows, ornaments, and thousands of lights. a number of disney characters are there to help bring in the holiday season. and not too chilly out there. it's pretty nice! >> couldn't ask for better weather. it's pretty mild. the temperatures are about 5 to 10 degrees above where they usually are. beautiful in the bay area. yet, there's something on the horizon that will be cooling us down big time. monday, we could be wet. we look at the golden gate bridge, and 67 in san francisco. 64 in santa rosa. warm front in advance of this system winding offshore, spinning high clouds over the northern third of the state.

a few high clouds from time to time for us over the next 24 hours. but in general, we're experiencing and will continue to experience fairly balmy weather. so warm again for tomorrow, relatively warm, anyway, for this time of year. but it's by tuesday, wednesday, low pressure takes a bite out of the high pressure. and it'll bring temperatures down, maybe even rain down, too, for tuesday and wednesday. the big thing you'll notice is the temperatures will just collapse. futurecast shows a few high clouds. this is at 6:00 tomorrow morning. watch as the day goes on. a few wisps of high clouds from time to time. not a big deal. temperatures will be pretty -- maybe a degree or two cooler tomorrow than they were today. but in general, a beautiful sunday around the bay area. ladies and gentlemen, to sum it up, one more warm day tomorrow. chances for rain coming in on tuesday and wednesday. scattered shower variety, not a huge rainmaker. 1/4 an inch once it's all said and done. and thanksgiving day looks cool and dry for thursday. and friday will be cool as well.

tomorrow, however, the ice is going to begin to melt a little bit in san francisco. 67 degrees. downtown ice for san jose, as well. at the museum of art and plaza there will look very nice. 73 degrees. and walnut creek on ice as well. plenty of sun. looks nice. overnight lows tonight mostly in the 40s. sunrise tomorrow morning, 3 minutes before 7:00. and here's what it looks like for tomorrow. still about 5 degrees above average across the bay area. here in the city, 67. concord, 68. san jose, 73 and oakland, 72. the numbers in the south bay will be low to mid-70s. plenty of sun. a little fog, a patch or two, and along the east bay shore line. the daytime highs range from the upper 60s to low 70s. in the north bay, a little cooler than that. and fog and low clouds along the shore line. but sunshine by mid-morning. and temperatures develop out at an average of 70 degrees tomorrow. very pleasant there. and up by ukia, 72. 74, lakeport.
