parenthood clinic in colora police surround a bay area urgent

care facility.. in a breaking news. a day after a deadly shootout at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado, police in our area say a san mateo woman was stabbed. by the time they got there it was too late. her boyfriend's car was later found abandoned in san carlos where a clinic was evacuated. police lifted the perimeter. they thought the suspect might be hiding inside the clinic but a search of the building has apparently come up empty. and here's how the scene looked a little earlier this evening as police and tactical vehicles combed the area for clues. and while they still don't know where the suspect is, tonight police say they know exactly who they are looking for.

>> the suspect in this case is anthony [ indiscernible ] he is a 22-year-old male resident, has various addresses here on the peninsula and we are actively looking for him. >> and here's a look at the suspect the 22-year-old man m he is considered armed and dangerous and police say they have been called out to the victim's san mateo home several times on domestic violence calls. we'll be following this story through the evening and we'll bring you a live update tonight at 11. neighbors of the man accused of opening fire on a planned parenthood clinic in colorado say that he was a loner. but tonight, his motive is still a mystery. police say robert lewis dear walked into the colorado springs facility yesterday and started shooting. patients and staff dodged bullets by hiding under furniture. >> i saw the gun and he was shooting randomly. >> i saw myself in the mirror and it's like, my god, he was aiming for my head. [ man screaming ]

>> i'm hit!! >> five police officers were wounded in the six-hour siege. a sixth officer garrett swasey was killed along with two civilians. 12 people were shot in all before dear surrendered. in response to the planned parenthood shooting, the pro- abortion group called for solidarity with the victims of yesterday's attack. >> the details aren't clear about the motivation of the shooter but there's been an escalating attacks on women's rides to decide whether or not to become mothers over the last three years it's spiked. >> protestors equated forced motherhood to female enslavement. the supreme court is set to hear a challenge to key parts of texas's abortion law next year. a busy san francisco intersection is a little safer tonight. crews have finished installing two new stop signs at bay and buchanan in the marina turning

it into an all-way stop. the lane configuration has also been changed to slow drivers down. it's the same intersection where a suspected drunk driver struck two 12-year-old boys earlier this month. the marina middle school students were injured but survived. the driver 30-year-old kristen anderek faces child endangerment charges and other charges. crews are working to restore water in a lafayette neighborhood tonight to repair a 16" pipe that ruptured last night. it sent water down the street for hours. flooding yards and homes in the 800 block of the road mark kelly checked the progress today. >> reporter: scraping up mud after last night's water main break flooded the neighborhood. >> i stopped and talked to one neighbor and she said the water main burst up the street. like oh, my goodness. >> reporter: the gushing water even buckled this road. a 16" cast iron by the put in

-- pipe put in the ground in 1949 broke last night. >> it split for 15 feet. there's a 15-foot split in this pipe. >> reporter: east bay m.u.d. still doesn't know what caused the split. it could be anything from seismic activity this weekend's cold snap or the pipe was just too old. >> cast iron pipe is the oldest pipe in the ground and we see it breaking all around the service area all over the east bay area. >> reporter: that's not what debbie hunter wants to hear. these sandbags were her yard's only protection from the flooding. >> this never happened before, never. it just --it --it --it flowed from the top here raging. >> reporter: even on this holiday weekend east bay m.u.d. will have crews working through the night. >> it's a significant break so it will take some time. >> reporter: especially repaving the road. but some are fast losing patience. >> we need our infrastructure fixed! that's the most important thing. or else people are going to

lose their homes. >> reporter: in lafayette, mark kelly, kpix 5. >> east bay m.u.d. hopes to have the water back on tonight. >> it was so cold last night a lot of that water turned to ice and we are not out of the deep freeze yet. as we look live toward coit tower clear skies it will get cold and freeze warnings are in effect again with temperatures as low as 26 degrees in some of the wind-protected valleys. tonight santa rosa will be all the way down to 28. concord 27 degrees. san jose 33. we'll begin to warm up again monday. but then rain chances return to the bay area by late next week. we'll have all the details when we cover the forecast in just a few minutes. the warriors take the court at oracle arena in a little less than an hour and looking to extend their win streak to 18. in the meantime, they set another record last night in phoenix. >> giving the warriors a brand-

new franchise record. >> they scored a whopping 22 three-pointers on the night and it wasn't just a win for the team. kpix 5's emily turner tells us it netted a lot of cash for bay area children's charities. >> reporter: hey, it sure does. in fact, every time they ever score a three-pointer, it's a win for those charities. you can see all the people out here behind me who are really excited about a win. well, obviously, the warriors aren't the only ones who rack in a win when that happens. one of them is oakland digital. it's one of eight total nonprofits in the bay area that the warriors foundation supports through its hoops for kids program. it's a digital design student that works with community college students to hone their skills by partnering them with local businesses and every three-pointer the warriors score means $500 for that hoops for kids foundation that ultimately goes to those organizations which is fantastic. >> i'm a huge golden state

to save a baby dolphin founf the monterey county coast. a short time ago, wildlife workers had to e calf. a saddened to the effort to save a baby dolphin found off the monterey county coast. a short time ago workers euthanized it. the dolphin was first spotted off elkhorn slough preserve yesterday swimming alone in open waters after apparently getting separated from its mother. the baby dolphin later got stuck in the mud. rescuers were able to pull it to safety this morning an took it to the marine mammal center at moss landing but because it had been stranded for so long and lost its mother, the decision was made this evening to put it down. >> i wish there was a better ending to that story. that's too bad. the bay area i suppose

there's a bit of a silver lining behind this cloud of cold weather and that's the fact that we are going to be warming up this week to the low 60s by wednesday. it will be a slow road to there, though, as we go down to the low 20s tonight. san francisco right now 53, san jose 51. on the satellite map a clear sky over much of california. fog forming in the central valley all the way from redding in the north down to bakersfield in the south. you have to be careful with the most treacherous weather i have ever driven in is the fog in the central valley. it hits like a wall. 'tis the season for that. with the clear skies we have, heat during the day, out into space. so overnight lows will dip down into the mid-20s. low 30s. so freeze warning posted again tonight. and here's what we're expecting. things will begin to warm up a little bit on monday. we'll climb a few degrees for

daytime highs may yank the freeze warnings by the then. a we get a chance of rain coming in probably late wednesday, the latest thinking on this the models keep waffling but the latest thinking is wednesday night north bay, thursday rest of the bay area, not a big rainmaker but it will get wet. at least that's the way it's looking. on the futurecast can't even see anything on this except a few high clouds showing up by tomorrow night at this time. the first indication that things are changing a little bit. otherwise clear skies for tomorrow. big chill still through tomorrow. slightly warmer next week. and then a rain chance by next thursday for most of the bay. in the meantime, might as well get in the spirit with the cool weather holiday ice rink with sunny skies around the embarcadero for the most part, 53 degrees. sunshine as well at union square 53 degrees. finally downtown ice in san jose, at the museum of art that little clearing there has been converted into an ice rink and the temperatures will be in the mid-50s tomorrow.

overnight lows 28 at santa rosa. 31 napa. 33 in fremont. 2 degrees below freezing tonight in mountain view. sun-up at 7:04 a.m. high temperature forecast shows things still about 5 to 8 degrees below average in much of the bay area. that will change by wednesday. be back to normal finally at least in terms of the temperatures. high temperatures forecast for tomorrow in the south bay mid- to upper 50s, cooler in the east bay, mid-50s for the most part. plenty of sun and not a whiff of fog or anything. mid-50s up in the north bay. and if you are heading up 101 to ukiah 57 degrees. 56 at clearlake. in the extended forecast, sunshine tomorrow and monday. then temperatures begin to warm up with partly cloudy skies the increasing clouds leading to some rain in the bay area by thursday. and then friday and saturday, that high battles back so it's a ballot between the cold air and then the warm and speaking of battles, there's some epic ones going on in college
