deadly shooting spree inside a planned parenthood facility. sources tell cbs news the suspect, robert dear, had several guns and ammunition, in addition to a long rifle. they also believe he planned on detonating propane tanks outside of his car, but surrendered instead. >> i was surprised, given he had to know how much damage he had done, but he made a decision to give himself up. >> reporter: a law enforcement source says when dear was arrested, he said, quote, no more baby parts. vicki cower, the regional head of planned parenthood, called on republican presidential candidates and antiabortion activists to tone down the rhetoric. >> the tirades against planned parenthood in the last few months have been over the top. >> reporter: the deadly attack hits home for hope chapel. slain officer garrett swasey was an elder here. >> we've experienced all joy, all pain, all emotion for the last 10 years side by side.

he's my best friend. >> reporter: leon chandler says one of the victims killed was his brother, ke'arre stewart. >> half a million people here and it happened to be my brother out of all of these people. random. the guy didn't know him. he didn't know the guy. i forgive him, though. >> reporter: cbs news, colorado springs. >> dear will make his first court appearance tomorrow by video. the two civilians killed in the attack have been identified. the sister of ke'arre stewart posted this photo. she said the 29-year-old was an iraq veteran and father of two. all the family wants is justice. jennifer markovsky is another victim, at the clinic to support a friend. her father posted this picture, saying life is too short. she leaves behind a husband and two children. markovsky was 36. the san francisco police officer known as the hot cop of the castro is in trouble tonight. he was arrested after slamming

into two men with his car. christopher coors has gained attention for his model good looks and muscular body. police say the crash happened after 2:00 this morning in the north beach neighborhood. witnesses say coors left his car and ran off. they called police and gave them the license number. coors was arrested a short time later. he faces two charges of felony hit and run. the two men hit a hospitalized with serious injuries. they are expected to survive. now, we learned just minutes ago coors is out of jail on bail p. a woman is dead, two passengers injured after the stolen car they were in slammed into a tree during a police chase in the east bay. police say they tried to pull the woman over on sycamore valley road near 680 in danville. the driver took off, leading police back onto the freeway, then into san ramon. the chase ended in a crash at bollinger canyon road. this is the aftermath, what's left of the honda. danville police say the driver lost control, causing her to crash.

investigators say the car was recently reported stolen in dublin. the police chief described the chase this afternoon. >> the pursuit reached about 90 miles an hour on the freeway and in the range of 70 to 80 miles an hour on surface streets before the collision occurred. >> the driver killed has been identified as 19-year-old hannah meacham of livermore. the passengers, both men, are in the hospital in critical condition. one is 19 years old. the other is 37. their names have not been released. thieves are targeting cars parked in the marin headlands. car break-ins have been increasing recently, especially in the golden gate national recreation area. the parking area leads to hiking trails, bike trails and sight seeing. police say tourists with luggage are most likely to be robbed. extra officers will be patrolling the area during the holiday season. well, expect to maybe see more scenes like this tomorrow morning. frost covering lawns, cars and

roof tops. here comes another one. one last night, a freeze warning for the bay area. it's still at least possible for temperatures to dip down to 26 in the coldest valleys. livermore bottoming out at 31. same for santa rosa. so we're looking for readings tonight mostly to be near or a little above freezing. now, we will have milder weather on monday with increasing clouds and maybe even a sprinkle or two tomorrow. we'll have all the details when we cover the weather, coming up. the san francisco police commission meets this week to approve new protocol for the use of body cameras. one of the sticking points, though, who should be able to view the video and when? as anne makovec explains, those questions are for both the public and the officers themselves. >> reporter: the events are emotionally charged. this is chest camera video from the oakland police and soon san francisco's police department will have photographic evidence

of its own dramatic incidents. but the rules governing body cameras are still in flux on both sides of the bay. >> we don't want witnesses, including police officers, to be tainted by viewing the video. >> reporter: public defender jeff adace spoke on sunday morning about why he says an officer who is under investigation should give an official statement before having a chance to view their own footage. >> different perspectives, right? the police officers are going to say, well, i saw this, i saw that. the video may show one perspective and not the totally of what's going on. >> reporter: the latest proposal on the police commission's website says the department's investigator will coordinate with the member to arrange the viewing of the recording prior to the member's interview. the santa clara pd just announced that its officers have cameras. in the case of an officer- involved shooting there, an officer will have to report on the event by memory before

seeing the video. then there's the question of viewing by the public. this is one of two videos oakland police released after we submitted a public records act request. it's an incident from july when a suspect died wedged between two buildings. civil rights attorney jim shannon says the good news is? >> they are showing more transparency. >> reporter: but he says that slight shift isn't enough. >> policy should be they should all be released unless there's some dramatic exception that warrants it not be released. >> reporter: the san francisco police commission is meeting to discuss its new potential protocol on wednesday at city hall. in the newsroom, anne makovec, kpix 5. >> the san jose police department is testing body cameras of its own and plans to deploy them next summer. and coming up, they were told not to do it, but they are doing it anyway. it doesn't look good. hundreds of demonstrators take to the streets in paris to protest the climate conference. >> talk about being in the

of that state of emergency in effect since those terror attacks. but hundreds got together anyway. police moved in. you can see what happened. officers used tear gas, pepper spray and billy clubs to break up the crowd. protesters responded by throwing things at police. more than 200 people were arrested. activists decided to cancel the protests planned for tomorrow. president obama has arrived in paris for the climate conference. he arrived on air force one a little over two hours ago. the president is one of several world leaders scheduled to treand the two-week summit. his schedule includes a meeting with china's president in the morning. now, before heading to his hotel for the night, the president stopped at the bataclan concert hall. that's one of the places where terrorists carried out a deadly attack earlier this month. mr. obama was joined by france's president and the mayor of paris. they both laid a flower at the memorial for each of those killed inside the theater. as paris prepares for tomorrow's climate talks, the city of lights is going green.

last tuesday while they wert on a hunting . two brothers in ontario, canada made a startling discovery all caught on camera. last tuesday, they were out on a hunting trip and came across a bald eagle stuck in a trap. the eagle had its talons caught. so the brothers put a sweatshirt over the eagle to calm it. eventually, they were able to free the big bird. before they sent him on his way, they snapped this selfie, which is now all over the internet. not bad. michael fletcher said he was astonished at how big the bird was close-up. finally, the big release, with one little toss, the bald eagle flying off. both brothers say it was a once in a lifetime experience and they were happy they were able to save the bird. >> makes you smile. tomorrow is cyber monday, when people shop for online- specific deals that rival the stores on black friday. retailers are banking on it. john ramos, on the strengthening trend that threatens to cut down on the number of shoppers in the malls. >> reporter: sun valley mall in

mostly clear skies. that's what's happening in the last four nights. that's why we've gotten to freezing temperatures, one of the reasons. right now, temperatures milder than they were last night at this time. 52 degrees at concord. 49 at livermore. in san francisco, 55. showing you a few satellite maps, you can see an approaching cold front. might get a few sprinkles and something we didn't see yesterday, which is increasing high clouds. it's because of the high clouds. watch, so that's the way it is now. look at what can happen over the next 24 hours. first, high clouds overspread the area. then look what's onshore. maybe a little bit of rain we'll get tomorrow. a little sprinkle here and there. that could certainly happen. but more high clouds. so that argues against a freeze warning, because if we get high clouds coming in early enough, temperatures will not dip as low as 26 to 32 degrees. but if they come in later, they will. there's still a freeze warning posted, but shouldn't be as cold tonight as it was last night with those overspreading high clouds. here's what we expect. first, milder on monday with

high clouds. don't forget, maybe a few sprinkles tomorrow. but the real rain will be coming in on thursday when low pressure approaches, grabs moisture and sends it over the bay area. that's thursday. about a quarter of an inch to half an inch. clouds increase, chance of a few sprinkles. milder on monday through wednesday, so not as cold. then a chance of rain coming into the bay area by thursday. heading out of the bay area, doesn't look too bad. there is fog in the central valley. if you're on 5 or 99, you know, after 9:00 in the morning and before 6:00 at night, best times to travel. 31 overnight in santa rosa. 31 degrees at livermore. tomorrow, a bit warmer than it was today, not by leaps and bounds. san francisco, 54 degrees. san jose, 57. same for oakland. down in the south bay, looking at numbers in the mid to upper 50s. east bay, still chilly with readings in the mid-50s again as well. 50s will do it for the north bay. that's a better chance of sprinkles tomorrow up in the north bay. for ukiah and overdale, also in
