sierra. several feet of snow falling at the higher elevations and round 2 tomorrow will significantly help those totals as winter storm warnings are posted for sunday all up and down the sierra. at the moment there's only a few light echoes on the kpix 5 hi-def doppler radar but that will change overnight as another cold front comes from the gulf of alaska bringing light rain and heavy rain after sunrise in the north bay. the east and south bays expect rain and gusty winds mid- morning and then it willboro out by tomorrow night -- it will blow out by tomorrow night. an inch in lake county, three- quarters inch total in the north bay and half inch in the south bay. at the same time there's towering surf at the shoreline. the forecast is coming up. nearly 200 nations accepted a landmark climate agreement following weeks of negotiations. >> this agreement recognizes we are going to begin to change

[ gunfire ] >> oh, my god! >> reporter: woods' family attorney says that this video shows that he never raised his hands up. in fact, the reason police say they pulled the trigger is because of that. now there's a call for police reform in the city. even a call for san francisco police chief su hr to resign -- police chief suhr to step down. the mayor has been out of town for the last few days and missed the protests and in this new video we caught up with mayor lee today. >> we want the city to continue being a safe city. but we also need to improve on the practices that we have. i know that it isn't just going to be instantaneous. we have to consider other

equipment practices training deescalation, in conflict. they all need to be part of it. in the last 48 hours since the video came out, two other people were victim of homicide. we need to keep the city safe with a higher level of cooperation with the community. >> reporter: the naacp is calling a press conference calling for san francisco police reform a few blocks away from city hall. emily turner, kpix 5. >> chief suhr said he would ask to have officers begin carrying tasers earlier this week. the fbi is back at a san bernardino lake today looking for evidence in the massacre that left 14 people dead. investigators say sayed farook and tashfeen malik, his wife, did visit the site. it is the third time divers have gone into the water this week. they have recovered a few items but haven't revealed what if any connection they may have to the attack. another funeral was held today

for one of the shooting victims. ♪[ music ] hundreds turned out for a funeral. they were in santa ana to remember tin nyugen. her fiance carried her portrait down the aisle and the crowd touched it. the service was conducted in vietnamese. at the same time a man is under arrest tonight accused of setting this fire at a coachella mosque. it went up in flames yesterday as worshippers were praying. they escaped and continued the service in the street. some think it could be backlash from the san bernardino shootings. the suspect faces several felony charges including suspicion of committing a hate crime. nobody was injured in the fire. a man is dead after he was hit by a car this morning while checking out the damage from an earlier accident. it happened around 2 a.m. on northbound 880 near the auto mall parkway off-ramp in fremont. police say the driver of a

toyota sedan hit another car in the fast lane. police say the driver of a toyota sedan hit another vehicle in the fast lane. the driver of the toyota got out to look at the car and that's when he was hit and killed by another car. police are now trying to determine what caused the original collision. >> from what we gather, the vehicle was stalled in the fast lane. but it was disabled or -- whether it was disabled or a prior incident we don't know but it was stalled in lanes. it was hit. >> the accident called all northbound lanes on 880 for -- the accident closed all the northbound lanes on 880 forthree hours. no other injuries were reported in the wreck. a napa school bus driver may have been drunk when driving 28 children home. police got a call yesterday that a school bus was stuck on old sonoma road and they saw the driver looked like she had been drinking when they arrived. they administered a field sobriety test and she failed it. police are charging the 24-year- old woman with suspicion of dui and 28 counts of child endangerment. a historic first at l.a.x. less than a month after the

united states loosened travel restrictions to cuba, american airlines jumped at the opportunity offering nonstop flights between l.a.x. and havana. today was the inaugural flight. a roundtrip ticket will be about $1,000. coming up, san francisco businesses aren't leaving it up to the city to deal with homelessness. we'll have details on the new union square cares program. >> and an east bay community comes together to take a stand against gun violence.

people marched through the streets of downtown walnut a stand on gun a crowd of more than 100 people marched through the streets of downtown walnut creek to take a stand on gun violence. it was organized by "moms demand action" to mark the third anniversary of the mass shooting at sandy hook elementary school. this was the first march of its kind in the east bay. in san francisco, there was a gun buy-back to mark the anniversary. people could turn in firearms no questions asked. they were given $100 for handguns and $200 for assault firearms. organizers are considering today's event a success. they say if they get just one gun off the streets, it's a victory. >> today's event another gun

buy-back successful. we eclipsed our last one in march. i think we did 92. we already up to 150 now. it was great. getting the guns off the streets man. >> it's estimated almost 300 people are shot every day in the united states. 50 of them are children or teenagers. women in saudi arabia made history today. for the first time they can vote and run for office in government elections. saudi arabia still has strict limitations on women, though. they have to vote at separate polling stations from men and they are not allowed to drive, either. but the right to participate in elections is seen as a big step forward. developing now, two people are under arrest on terror charges in switzerland where authorities have been looking for suspects with links to the paris attacks. police say they found traces of explosives inside the suspects' vehicle. it's not clear if today's arrests are in fact linked to the attack in paris. shop owners in san

francisco union square have hired a homeless outreach member to patrol the 27-square- block neighborhood. they are helping connect the homeless with social services. shops will also hand out flyers with a homeless hotline for people to call if they see a homeless person. >> not all the city's responsibility. i'm glad that the businesses are pitching in and i urge them to do so more. >> san francisco has more than 6,000 homeless people and about half live full time on the streets. uber is trying to make sure that none of their drivers sue the company. they want drivers to sign an agreement not to join the class action lawsuit against them. the lawsuit is a push for the company to define drivers as employees doing so would make drivers eligible for reimbursement for gas and maintenance. gas prices are on track to dip below $2 a gallon.

the nationwide average of $2.02 is the lowest price since the recession. and 58 cents lower than last year. according to aaa, south carolina has the cheapest gas at $1.79 a gallon and here in the bay area, it's $2.65. costumed santas are invading the bay area again. and this year, santacon participants are trying to bring some cheer to children in need. >> and from what i saw, they were also, um, having some cheer. the stage is set for rain heading into the bay area. we'll have the latest as we look live. it's all coming up after the break. ,,

the wee small hours of the morning. a little frank sinatra thing there. rain up north all day today. but we'll pick up light rain after midnight and the front will sweep through on sunday. pretty sharp spike of rain coming in about, oh, 9:00 in the north bay. you will city in a minute. then later in the south bay like 11:00 in the morning. you will see it in a minute. up to 1.5" of rain in the higher elevations of the north bay and three-quarters inch on sunday for the south bay, as well. futurecast draws a bead on this. first light showers and then that cold front powers through so that by 10 a.m., it is just about reaching san jose. you will get rain before that. you can see a very sharp definition of the heavier rain. and along with that, it all blows out by the afternoon, we'll begin to clear it out. but there will small showers and and there and the winds will be robust with this, as well. futurecast winds shows we are up to 31 miles an hour by 6 a.m. so it will be a blustery start

sunday morning. front comes through and you can see gusts at 30 miles an hour before things ease up later in the day. it's going to be windy tomorrow. surf is up tonight with swells really up there. the breakers could be up to about 15 feet along the shoreline. same time winter storm warning the rain gets translate to snow in the sierra as much as two feet of snow at the higher passes so travel delays likely heaviest snow between 10 and 4 tomorrow afternoon. so increasing clouds tonight. rain spreads south tomorrow. sunny and dry week ahead. as we look at the golden gate bridge out of the bay area you cannot escape this. snow in the mountains and rain in the northern half of the state. overnight lows 40 degrees. sunrise tomorrow 7:16 a.m. and forecast highs about where we should be this time of the year. 61 oakland. 58 san francisco. same for concord and 59 degrees in san jose. expect to get wet by a little later in the morning in the south bay with numbers near upper 50s and low 60s.

stanford's christian mccaffy gained the most yards of any player in college football history... with 3,248 all purpose yards. he broke the record set by barry sandersn stanforder a christian mccaffrey gained the most yards with 3248 all purpose yards. he broke the record setted by barry sanders in 1988 when sanders won the heisman. tonight, mccaffrey looking to become only the second cardinal to win the heisman since jim plunkett in 1970. >> the winner of this year's heisman trophy is derek henry. >> so alabama running back derek henry beats mccaffrey becoming the second crimson tide player to win joining

left sending saint mary's to the line. but rayhon on a one-on-one misses the first of the one-on- one and brown grabs the rebound for cal. the bears win a close one 63- 59. cal is 8-2 on the season while saint mary's suffers their first loss this season. the finish of the day comes from number 3 north carolina visiting texas. final seconds tied at 82. longhorns isaiah taylor misses a jumper but the ball goes right back out to jahvon who makes it at the buzzer. just getting it off before the clock. texas upsets third ranked tar heels 84-82. in the junior college state championship, city college of san francisco beat saddleback 26-14 to win the california and national titles. it's the rams' tenth national championship. in the nfl after losing four of the last five games, the play-offs may be out of reach for the raiders but there's still some hope left. a win over the division leading broncos tomorrow would certainly help.
