>> live, from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. >> so, the first loss of the season. and the milwaukee bucks, the street stopper. >> it had to happen and it did. tonight, the end of the warriors winning streak. good evening, i'm brian hackney. >> and i'm betty yu. it was not their light. >> it was not. they were tired. they were playing their final road game on the longest road trip of the season. a second of a back to back after playing a double overtime affair in boston. they were a tired bunch. but nothing can take away from their record breaking accomplishment. warrior fans in milwaukee were

hoping to see it go again. a warriors comeback would not happen tonight. three minutes left in the game. milwaukee's greg monroe hits the layup and gets the foul. the bucks win and the warriors lose their first game of the season and their win streak is snapped at 28. they hold the second longest winning streak. the 1971-72 lakers still hold the record. >> we will see what happens when the milwaukee brewers come to oracle. there should be some pay back. >> well, emily turner spoke to fans in san francisco. they still have a lot to be thankful for. >> reporter: they sure do. it was a disappoints night for the warriors and warriors fans but you're right. they have the championship they are looking forward in the future and the streak night

month's deadly san francisco police shooting in the bay view. it raises questions about chief greg surr's account of what happened when officers confronted mario woods. he insists woods was raising a knife toward officers right before they opened fire. >> we want the city to continue being a safe city. but, we also need to improve on the practices that we have and i know that it isn't just going to be instant. we have to consider other equipment. >> woods' family has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. meanwhile, the chief is calling on the city to outfit his officers with new less lethal equipment like tazers and shields. dozens of guns are off the streets of san francisco tonight. people turned in 150 of them at this buy back event. organizers took all kinds of firearms in exchange for cash, no questions asked. it was planned well in advance

of the mass shooting in san bernardino. it was meant to mark the third anniversary of another attack at sandy hook elementary school. another event in the east bay marks the same somber anniversary. more than 100 people marched through walnut creek demanding tougher gun laws. >> we have to recognize that we have to have laws that will make it harder for people who want to kill people to have access to guns. >> you will notice by the way many of the protesters are wearing orange or holding orange signs. that's the color adopted by the antigun violence movement. in southern california, divers spent a third day scouring a san bernardino lake for any clues the suspects in the terror attacks may have left behind. john blackstone is there. >> reporter: for the third day, dive teams from the fbi and local police scoured the bottom of a muddy lake where it is believed the shooters may have thrown away a computer hard

drive. as the search for evidence goes on, so was the sorrow. hundreds gathered today for the funeral of one of the 14 killed. >> she was the most selfless caring person with the heart bigger han the sun. >> reporter: nearly 2,000 miles away in georgia, another victim shannon johnson was remembered as a hero shielding a coworker as he was fatally wounded. >> reporter: the names have been added to those whoa have dieed in the war on terror. four dive teams spent most of saturday in the water. we have seen the teams bring up several items but the fbi has made no comment on what has been found. bay area muslims came together tonight hoping to combat hate with prayer. the amadea muslim community hosted a vigil at the bay point

mosque for the victims of the san bernardino shooting. they say the extremism and hate that fueled the attacks is not islam. >> we want them to take home that muslims generally and most of us are true peaceful loving people. and, we are loyal to this nation which is a beautiful nation of america. >> organizers say they felt it was important to bring the community together. not only to pray, but to learn about the true meaning of islam. a historic pact in paris tonight where nearly the entire world has come together to fight global climate change. brian webb on the agreement goals and its critics. >> reporter: nearly 200 countries agreed to fight global warming by limiting greenhouse gas emissions. they agreed to switch to clean and renewable energy sources like solar power for decades to

come. >> the agreement demonstrates solidarity and this ambitious event is credible and doable. >> reporter: it calls for the average temperature rise to be held to less than 2 degrees celsius. $100billion will be given from rich countries to poor countries to help them move away from fossil fuels. >> this agreement recognizes we have to begin to change the way we power our planet. the way we power things. >> reporter: protests topped up under the eiffel tower after the agreement arguing the pact doesn't go far enough. others believe it will restrict the u.s. and other countries too much. a handful of nations including nicaragua have not submitted emissions targets. >> we cannot be complacent because of today's agreement. the problem is not solved because of this accord. >> reporter: the agreement sends a strong message to the global economy to move

investment and technology toward clean energy. brian webb for cbs news, new york. >> governor brown attended the paris talks and in a statement he called the pact a historic turning point in the quest to combat one of our biggest threats. gas prices are tanking tonight. just in time for your holiday travel. triple a reports the national average is hovering just above the $2 mark. the lowest price since the recession and 58 cents lower than this time last year. traveling to south carolina, you will find the cheapest gas in the country there at 1.79 a gallon. the bay area as usual has some of the most expensive gas in the country averaging 2.65. >> and still ahead, a school bus full of kids gets stuck on a bay area road. then, the driver gets arrested for dui. >> a union square merchantries a new tactic to keep the homeless away from their store. >> this gives new meaning to

unrelenting rain sent rivers tumbling over their banks in >> boy, look at this. dozens of cars underwater tonight after days of up relenting rain sent water tumbling over the banks. a river rose two feet. this happening near portland.

some of the moisture is on the way to the bay air tonight. we will talk about the forecast in a few minutes. a historic first at lax of the less than a month after the united states loosened travel restrictions to cuba, several airlines have jumped at the chance to expand flights to cuba. a round trip ticket runs you about $1,000. a napa valley school bus driver runs off the road with 28 kids on board. it happened as they tried to make a turn on old sonoma road. this is what officers found when they arrived. the chp says officers gave 24- year-old chakita parker a dui test and she failed. she is being charged with dui and child endangerment. none of the children was hurt. a man was killed when he got out to check the damage on a fender bender.

it happened this morning. the chp says he and another driver bumped into each other in the fast lane. when he pulled over and got out, another car hit and killed him. that driver stopped and he is not facing any charges tonight. the holiday season is a busy time in san francisco's union square. tonight, merchants are take ago new approach to stop the homeless from hanging around their stores. mark kelly on what they are asking shoppers to do. >> reporter: harris miller says when it comes to homeless people outside his grant street store, he has seen it all. >> they take their clothes off. taking baths in front of us. >> reporter: san francisco spends $165 million a year on the homeless. according to a 2015 report, but harris worries little has changed. >> very liberal over here. but sometimes, liberal doesn't work, you have to do something. >> reporter: the union square business improvement district

is doing something. union square care paying for a homeless outreach member to patrol this 27 square block neighborhood and help connect the homeless with the social services that they need. >> it is really a good thing that they are doing. >> reporter: alex kelly also supports the shops helping the transients. he had a homeless person follow him eight blocks asking for money. union square cares has ambassadors handing out fliers for people to call if they see a person in need and just don't know what to do. >> i'm glad the businesses are pitching in. >> reporter: at union square, mark kelly, kpix5. thousands of santas descended on san francisco today and some of them may have taken in a little too much christmas spirit. it was all part of santa con which included a parade and a bar crawl, but these santas were not just out there drinking. this included a toy drive hosted by the san francisco fire department. >> we have one of the largest toy programs in the country. we serve over 40,000 family assayer. in late november. starting all the way and ending up all the way into christmas. >> the program will be accepting toys until christmas. all right, sounds good. out on the golden gate bridge, the streets are conspicuous by the absence of any moisture yet. but, it is going to get a little bit wet. speaking of the wee small hours of the morning. it is frank sintrata's 100th birthday today had he lived. did you know that? what is your favorite album? >> i can't tell you right now. 60 years after it came out. san francisco, 55. san jose, 52 degrees. and here is how i looks like on the satellite. you can see that there is that big stream of moisture coming into the pacific northwest and it has produced the trouble we saw earlier in the newscast. for us we be get a cold front powering through the bay area and we will get some light shower ins the early hours so we are just a little by. there is already light rain up in santa rosa. there is low pressure. it is the pacific northwest. it has been raining all day. for us, it sank south, but moves quickly. the front moves through with blustery winds 40 miles an hour in parts of the bay area. when the front comes through, up to an inch-and-a-half in the higher elevations. in north bay, three quarter of an inch in the south bay in the higher elevations. here is how it looks in futurecast. 10:00 in the morning you can see the cold front. it is passed through the city and on its way to the south

bay. and it goes through by sunday afternoon. we get some clearing, some peeks at sun. and, it will mostly dry up by sunday night. located the wind field. really brighten up as the front passes through. 48 miles an hour wind gusts. at half-moon bay. look at fremont and livermore all in the 40 miles an hour range. a pretty powerful wind as this comes through. a blustery cold and wet sunday morning on the way for the bay. nice day to cozy up with a newspaper or something in the fireplace. how retro. high surf rip tides possible through tonight. sneaker waves likely. the high surf will finally begin to subside the next 24 hours but there have been some big breakers out there. rainfall amounts more than an inch at ukiah. seven tenths at santa rosa. san francisco, four tenths of an inch. hayward, half an inch in the south bay. and, the winter storm warnings are posted out in the mountains. heavy snow expected to fall

between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 tomorrow afternoonment as much as 24 inches total up there. look, there's the golden gate bridge again. increasing clouds tonight. rain will spread south tomorrow. sunny dry week ahead for the bay area after we dispense of the rain. heading out of the bay area, you will not escape the rain unless you head into the mountains. you will get snow. overnight lows will be near 40 degrees for the most part. and tomorrow, the numbers are actually pretty close to where they should be at this time of the year. 61 in oakland. 58 in the city. south bay, you get rain mid- morning and temperatures in the mid 50s for the most part. east bay, the same. mid-morning, winds pick up. then clearing in the afternoon. north bay gets hit first. light rain tonight don't forget, and a cold front comes through just after sunrise. pretty much the same up around lake county but it will be coming in earlier and the

rainfall totals will be greater. so sunday looks wet. but that's the last time for a while. we have had rain on again, off again. on again. but lit be off at least through thursday. and right now, just looks partly cloudy through the weekend. so it is possible we get an extended dry break. but all good things must come to an end. nobody knows that better than the sports department. >> that's right brian. coming up in sports, this streak is over at 24. we head out to milwaukee to hear from the warriors coming up next in sports. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
