yet. good evening. i'm juliette goodrich. >> i'm brian hackney. it's been a soaker of a sunday. people woke up to drenching rain as powerful winds whipped up the waves on the bay. the storm left plenty of damage behind. tree limbs came crashing down on cars along mcalister street. it also brought down some muni wires. crews spent a good daily of the day fixing those wires. >> some storm drains in san francisco couldn't handle all the rain, turning streets into small lakes. firefighters were out all over town clearing away leaves and other debris. one woman near golden gate and goffe took it upon herself to help. >> we need some help from the city to unclog the drains. so the water is going to flood some cars over here. >> this morning's storm brought about an inch of rain to san francisco. >> they're cleaning up in the east bay as well.

a huge tree came down crushing a car and damaging two homes on 10th street next to lake elementary school. nobody was hurt. workers came in to remove the tree. and in martinez many people started the day without power as these wires came down on pacheco boulevard cutting electricity to a good part of the east side of the city. police blocked off part of the street so that crews could get the power restored. >> and in the north bay the wind has been causing all kinds of problems. a redwood tree came crashing down taking some electrical lines with it. you can see the wires on the ground, actually smoking. since the tree was blocking a street, some homeowners were trapped until crews could clean up the mess. also, in monterio the town christmas tree toppled. fortunately no one was hurt but fire crews had to chop it down by at least six feet. the same tree fell over in

another storm a few days ago. >> a couple of nights ago trees across the street came down, so this morning during the wind storm it picked it up and brought it out of the holder we made for it. >> the wind also blew a big plexiglass panel off this bus shelter. >> in near bey jenner coastal flooding began a couple days ago thanks to several days of rain. look at that. today's wet weather added to everything. in some spots people are using kayaks to get around. good luck getting to the post office to check the mail or send off your christmas cards. >> we've kind of got a perfect storm here where we had rainfall the last two days, and very high storm event this whole last week. the waves were as high as 25 feet. >> the high surf only making matters worse and trapping flood waters along the coast. in addition to the post office there's also flooding at the visitors center and several

nearby businesses. no word on how much damage has been done. most of the rape has headed south and out of the bay area with just a few pop-up showers remaining. the kpix 5 hi-def doppler shows it's mostly raining on the fish at this hour. next, rain totals. more than an inch in the santa cruz mountains. three-quarters of an inch here in san francisco. .46 in napa. and finally tonight, showers will be ending, but for tomorrow, gusty winds will remain. and for the next round of rain, we will have that when we cover the forecast. all that rain is turning to snow in the sierra where winter storm warnings are in effect. reporter steve large found several families who left the rain behind to enjoy the snow. >> reporter: the second act of two back to back sierra storms is giving the davey family a chance to have their three-year-

old see snow for the first at the same time. >> reporter: what is this called? >> snow. >> reporter: this receiving you had hoped it would be? >> this is it, a little snow fun. >> reporter: how long you guys up here for? >> just a day industry. we went to go get a tree and wanted to go play in the snow on the way home. >> reporter: round two had families from the bay area driving east to experience this fun in freezing nyack. >> you could just go out and go on your sled and come down the hill. >> reporter: caltrans has been warning drivers. every snowplow is in operation this weekend. every caltrans employee here is on the clock. snow was falling as low as 3800 feet this sunday, creating slow going on roads, but fun family memories on hill slides. >> chain controls are in effect all over the lake tahoe area tonight. so if you are headed that way be prepared. still ahead, bay area roads have also been dangerous, the

that killed a couple and left two children injured. the car skidded off eastbound 580 near grant line road just east of altamonte. investigators say it flipped several times as it went down the embankment. the medical examiner is working to identify the man and woman killed in the crash. it is believed they are the children's parents. a six-year-old girl who survived told investigators they were headed to stockton. a five-year-old boy has some head injuries but is expected to recover. at about the same time this big rig wrecked on eastbound 580 in livermore it ended up puncturing its gas tank, and the chp it blocked lanes to clean up the mess. no one was hurt. an investigation underway into an officer-involved shooting insan mateo. police were called about a disturbance at laurie meadows drive and old county road. officers say they opened fire on the suspect when he tried to run them over. 31-year-old kendall hager of

albany is facing several felony charges. he was wounded in the shooting but he is expected to survive. the officers were not hurt. and meanwhile three investigations are now underway into this month's deadly sfpd shooting in the bay. witness cell phone videos are being analyzed frame by frame, but what you see in the intense confrontation between the officers and the knife-wielding mario woods depends on who you ask. >> that officer was preventing the suspect from escaping the scene and possibly endangering others that are out of view of the video. >> the idea that somehow he was charging, i don't see the video showing that. in fact, what we saw was that he was actually -- he had his hands down. >> chief greg surr insists woods was raising his arms as he approached officers. he is now renewing his call to arm officers with tasers as a

less lethal option. mario woods' family has filed a civil rights lawsuit. a cargo ship lost part of its load, and that load is washing up along the pacifica coastline. two empty shipping containers were seen along rockaway beach. at least a dozen went into the water late friday nature as the ship ran into rough seas off the golden gate. it is possible the containers could be floating in the ocean if they landed at just the right angle. well, with housing in such high demand there's no shortage of crazy real estate stories, but the price tag on this tiny house might just top them all. and now a view of the bay bridge looking from oakland and a look ahead to the next chance of rain. we will have all of it coming up after a break. ,,,,,,,,

so we will keep track of that one. >> so small you would have to go outside just to change your mind, wouldn't you? >> exactly. >> can you believe that? too many people in too small a space, meaning the greater bay area. but real estate prices, up, up, up. temperatures coming down as we've got readings in the 40s in san francisco. and it's destined to get chilly tonight. san francisco, 49 degrees. in santa rosa 56. the golden gate bridge, for a change, no slick streets out there, as we've got northwesterly winds scouring the bay area of what few showers remain. there could be a pop-up shower or two but that would be about it. the dry northwesterly flow is going to replace the showers. there could be a shower or two. mostly that's over. low pressure is heading inland. over the pacific northwest it will dump more snow. that's why they have winter storm warnings posted. 45-mile-per-hour winds. white-out conditions possible with 12 to 20 inches above

7,000 feet, and very long delays for folks heading to or coming back from the mountains. on the futurecast, you can see that it initial lieses pretty well. northwesterly winds keeping any showers offshore, and this is at 6:00 tomorrow morning. mostly clear skies over the bay area. there could be a puff or two of valley fog in some of the wind protected valleys, but it won't be easy to form with winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour overnight. we will show you that in a minute. but in the meantime, mostly clear day for tomorrow. on the futurecast, we're going to freeze this towards sunrise tomorrow. the winds will be with us through much of the overnight hours. 34-mile-per-hour gusts still around at sunrise, 31 in the city, 31 at half moon bay. as the day goes on the stronger winds begin to subside but it will be a breezy monday. breezy but clear. so a few lingering showers as low pressure heads inland. high pressure replaces it keeping in the northwesterly winds. it will be windy, chilly, brilliant views.

crackling clear day on tap. in the week ahead mostly sunny and dry. a chance of a few showers working their way into the north bay on thursday but aside from that it looks dry. as we look live over san jose a few showers, partly cloudy on monday, and on the chilly side. sunny and mostly dry for the week ahead. if you are heading out of the bay area fog will be forming in the central valley. temperatures in the 50s there. out in the mountains, partly cloudy skies later in the day. overnight lows chilly, 40 in redwood city, down to 33 in santa rough 15. forecast highs tomorrow is going to be mid-50s baywide, with increasing sunshine and chilly highs. san jose at 56, oakland 57, and concord 54 degrees. the south bay reflects that pretty well. mid-50s just about everywhere tomorrow as we dry out from this latest little series of stores. for monday and tuesday mostly sunny, same for wednesday. numbers on the chill side. we will increase clouds on thursday, and north bay thursday, maybe some light

broncos fan. everybody that is from mile high is a denver broncos fan. the raiders haven't won in denver since 2011. in the last three games they were outscored 121-41. today they were held to a negative 12 yards in the first half. it's the brock osweiler show in denver these days. he led the broncos to four field goals. 12-0 denver. third quarter, the raiders woke up. the story this game was kalil mack. he beats the right tackle, hits osweiler, the ball is loose, the raiders come away with the safety. denver's lead is cut to 12-9. then on the punt the momentum swing continues. emanuel sanders boots the football. it's loose. it's recovered by the raiders' long snapper jon condo. jack del rio, i know who recovered that football. that pump fake set up michael rivera to catch the touchdown.

the 49ers went into cleveland having won just four games all season. so how could they possibly overlook the browns even with their 2-10 record? johnny football done with the party scene. back at quarterback for cleveland. crowell, two touchdowns. 10-3 browns. second quarter, manziel under fire. could be a safety but the gun slingger says, not so fast. watch his left hand grab manziel's face mask. a critical penalty costing the 49ers two points and the ball. the touchdown to gary barnidge. 2-10 browns lead 17-3. it's a route. not a good game for blaine gabbert. who could blame him? he was sacked. the 49ers were embarrassed on both sides of the ball, losing 24-10. they are officially out of the playoff race. >> obviously we played like [ bleep ]. sorry for the curse

ginn caught two touchdowns over 45 yards in the first quarter alone. 20 seconds left in the first half. cam newton to diving ed dickinson. newton throes for three touchdowns. they crush the falcons 38-0 to stay undefeated. carolina, the ninth team in nfl history to start a season 13-0. stanford soccer take on clemson. second half, 1-kneel cardinals. stanford wins 4-0, and that is the program's first national championship in school history. 14th ranked stanford women in austin visiting number five texas. second quarter, longhorns up 25- 16. davenport steals, finishes with the layup. texas wins 77-69. cardinal fall to 6-2. ,still, tough to explain how the 49ers go to cleveland and actually overlook the browns, despite having won four games. >> i can explain it.
