dead inside. >> the body was discovered at the pi kappa phi house. tonight police are calling the death suspicious. when police arrived at 7:30 a.m., the man was unresponsive. paramedics were unable to revive him. the frat threw a party there last night. it's the third time somebody has died at a berkeley frat house since last year. >> i find frats kind of scary. i think it happened too often anyway, so i'm not surprised. >> it's not clear how the man died or if he was even a student. all police are saying is he was 23 years old. investigators were on scene most of the day interviewing fraternity members at the house. police are looking for a

hit-and-run driver who hit a woman and took off. a car hit the woman first. that driver stopped first and tried to wave off other cars. but a silver saturn struck the victim a second time. the victim has been identified as 76 year old li yin yan. her family has been looking for her since about noon yesterday. in alameda, a driver died after his suv plunged into the oakland estuary. our mark kelly spoke with a good samaritan who dove in to help. >> reporter: recovery crews pulled a white water-logged suv out of the oakland estuary while witnesses try and wrap their heads around what they were seeing. >> first thought is that can't really have happened; right? >> reporter: brian was working nearby when someone came into the store yelling for help. >> someone came in yelling if

there was anyone who knew how to swim. >> reporter: emergency crews got the call around 7:00 this morning. >> the vehicle went over the parking lot in the sidewalk area into the water. >> reporter: before trained rescuers got there, brian, work uniform on, dove in to try and rescue the driver. the vehicle completely underwater. >> i couldn't see the car, but they were pointing to bubbles coming up. i didn't even think about it. i just get in the water, try and get to the guy. >> reporter: unfortunately, the cold water, also dark just before sunrise, proved too challenging for brian felt. >> it becomes completely black. i can't even see my hands. >> reporter: a trained swimmer with alameda fire was able to pull the driver from the vehicle, but the man died before getting to the hospital. >> driver -- divers stayed in the water for a while just to make sure there weren't any

other passengers in the v vehicle. a 55 man is in critical condition after he was found floating in the water in ocean beach around 9:20 this morning. rescuers spotted him about 50- yards off shore floating face down in the water near sutro baths. they pulled him to shore and performed cpr. hundreds of people lost power when a car slammed into a power pole in vallejo. right now, about 500 customers are still in the dark. pg&e crews are still working to restore service. now let's take a look outside to show partly cloudy skies in san francisco tonight. part low cloudy will change to mostly rainy in the next 24

hours. we got rain last night, enough to flood the freeways in part of the east bay. oakland picked up half an inch of rain in a smalltime. the local ski resorts picked up about 4 to 6 inches of fresh powder overnight. futurecast shows more rain will head into the north way in the morning and head back into the rest of the area later in the day. we'll cover all that in the forecast later in the program. super bowl 50 is now just 50 days away and excitement is building across the bay area. our emily turner is live in san francisco where even the ferry building has super bowl fever tonight. >> reporter: that's right. super bowl excitement is on the air. they lit this earlier today. 50 days until super bowl 50s. it is going to be right there up until the game. that game is february 7th, 2016 and the count down has

right now, police are not releasing any information about what happened or whether anyone was hurt. family members of san bernardino shooter syed farook today went to his town home in red lands to collect belongings. his mother was seen loading items into a u-haul van. last night, president obama and michelle obama met with families of the victims killed in the shootings. the 3-point-1 magnitude qua rumbled through san r midnight. it was did you feel it? another small earthquake rattled the east bay overnight. the 3.1 magnitude quake rumbled through san ramon just after midnight. it was centered in the same area that experienced a swarm of hundreds of small quakes in october. homes in the hollywood hills completely filled with mud. a water main break caused massive mud slides in the neighborhood. the two homes that were hit the hardest are caked with nearly 8 feet of mud. well, ladies and gentlemen, we're here to cover the

weather, it is rather chiller, but most locations are reporting clear to cloudy skies. but that's going to change. by this time tomorrow night -- earlier than that, for the north bay and central bay, we'll get wet for tomorrow. oakland's got 51. and san francisco the same. santa rose a46 rather chilly degrees. here comes another one. you can see the high clouds beginning to sink close to mendocino. futurecast shows what's going to happen next as we got high clouds first, up till midnight, not so bad. tomorrow morning, you'll awake to cloudy skies in the north way. there's sunshine in the south bay. north bay by midmorning gets light rain. by this time tomorrow night, the rain is spread across the area. so increasing chance of rain as

we head toward 8:00, 9:00 in the morning for the north bay, later than that for the rest of the bay area. that might interfere for the raiders who are taking on the packers tomorrow. the 49ers are playing as well. and pretty much the same forecast applies, which is increasing clouds and that will lead to increase chance for showers later in the game. for christmas week, we've got that low pressure acting like this big conveyer belt coming in. this is coming out of the gulf. fairly cold week ahead. christmas day looks fairly chilly for the bay area. as much as 5 inches of rain as a bulls eye up there in the north coast. south of that, we're picking up a total of about an inch of rain by the time all is said and done. to sum it up -- my golden gate picture. shall i change it?
