don't worry, it's not going to affect the show at all. here is your countdown. if you run hot, you may not need one. >> it's going to be good weather. >> so we are now just eight days away from superbowl 50 in santa lara. today, the celebration starts in san francisco. and live at superbowl city. it opens to the public in less than four hours, and how is it going? >> a little slow because we are still four hours from the opening. this is the main entrance to superbowl city. you can see they do all the barriers set up here for when the lines do arrive. there is your main entrance. superbowl city red did i to open at # 1:00 a.m. construction is going on. for the past week here. here is a look inside the free fan village set-up to welcome

the mugger says their white getaway van was parked right outside. the van was stolen in south l. a. the day after the jailbreak. >> we believe tar they are together in that white van. and as with e have said all along, both should be considered armed and dangerous. >> by # 1:00 a.m. check-out time, the motel manager says jonathan and saying were gone and so was the white van. >> it was frightening that we were walking down the street to go to dinner and we had just seen a story that they had escaped or come up to northern california. >> gary and his wife live within a mile of the motel. authorities say the pair could be on route to fresno where one of the men has associates. >> the windows may be tented at this point. we believe the decals have been removed, and it's most likely outfitted with a paper lit. >> the third escapeee surrendered in southern california today. he was doing time for attempted murder charges.

all three men broke out of an orange county maximum security jail one week ago after cutting through layers of steel and metal. i they were on the run for 16 hours before deputies noticed they were missing during the 5:00 a.m. headcourt. >> we are pressing forward and we are coming after them. and we are pressing forward. we will take you back into custody. >> kpix5. a former president of the san francisco school board went before a judge yesterday again. keith jackson faces new state channels of bribery and money laundering along with two former city officials who worked on mayor ed lee's first campaign today. >> who made those recordings. >> some liar came to town,

called himself an fbi agent, claims to be an fbi agent. lied and lied and lied, had a lot of money. acted like a big shot. tried to get other people to act like a big shot, and that is all there is to it. it's a really odd case. >> jackson has already pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges along with former state senator. jackson will be sentenced february 49. well, other bay area headlines. a big response for a two alarm fire on kennedy road. santa lara county sent five trucks to find a trailer on the property up in flames. there was no damage to nearby homes, but the trailer was a total loss. arson investigators are now sifting through the evidence. you. starting on monday, it will cost more to park at three bart stations. it will be $2 to park in hayward. 250 to park at the richmond bart station and $8 in west oakland. the last parking hike happened

in december. crews spent much of friday sawing up a big heritage oak tree. it fell on a house over in walnut creek at about 1:00 a.m. yet morning. -- yesterday morning. the good news is nobody was hurt. the tree was on city property u. arborists say they have checked it in the last five years, and that tree, according to them, was healthy. this is what is left of a multimillion dollar home in san francisco. more houses there are still in yeply. -- jeopardy. they could be the next to go if the earth underneath them keeps moving. the damage in the sherwood forest neighborhood. >> a concern among everybody in the neighbor. boar hood that this whole hillside could be in danger. >> as homeowners watch ronald's home being demolished, many now wonder could their home be next? >> what is the worst case scenario out

hackers are getting ready, the f-b-i is concerned peop at the bay area gets ready for superbowl hackers. the fbi is concerned people attending the festivities may be targets. on the ways criminals could be getting your information and how to protect yourself. >> for months, they have been installing powers -- tower asks beefing up power to insure superbowl fans from the south bay to san francisco never lose a signal. but this fbi document obtained by kpix warns of significant cyber threats for superbowl 50 fans. one of the biggest concerns is open wifi networks. standing here in the middle of superbowl city, i have access to at least five open public wifi networks. and like any public wifi network, they are relatively easy to hack. the f -- fbi is concerned that hackers may be able to intercept global transactions performed here at levi stadium or introduce

malware on these phones via the open wifi network. >> open wifi is that. it means this is no security on the system. they need to realize whatever they are sending, it can be viewed by others. security analyst jeff park says the threat of exposing personal information isn't the only digital kilohm ma for superbowl nans. >> if you go in and make a approximate archaist at the stadium, that information is transmitted, and it is possible for it to be intercepted. we have seen it happen in a number of occasions at a number of difficulty vendors. >>reporter: while the fbi cyber threat assessment doesn't identify criminal operations, it does site a quote high confidence based on past behavior of cyber criminals during major sporting events prior to the 2011 fight, fans got e- mails that appeared to be from stub hub confirming their orders. instead, the link sent them to fishing sites. and leading up to last year's superbowl, victims lost money and gave up personal information after falling for online ticket and lodging scams. but whether they are through

social engineering or cyber hacks, the fbi says the cyber crimes are inevitable. >> the big takeaway is expect all this to happen. this isn't something new. >> now, whether you are at superbowl city or the stadium, you want to pay with cash when possible, otherwise use credit instead of debit. and when it comes to public wifi, why us remember nothing you do on your desist while -- device while connected to any public wifi network is guaranteed to be private. this time of year, really important. don't click on links, any links that are sent to your inbox because scammers will send you legitimate-looking e-mails pretending to be something that you any you ordered when, in fact, they are just spoo fictionng you. >> don't assume you have privacy, and -- privacy. a lot of areas. >> and even on some secured wifi networks, there are some questions but certainly any public wifi. well, two days before the iowa caucuses, hillary clinton's use of a private

e-mail server. well, the secretary of state back in the headlines. the obama administration confirms that 22 messages have top secret information. marly hall has some of the reaction from the other candidates. just days before the iowa caucuses, republican presidential candidates saved their sharpest debt for democratic grant reason -- frontrunner, hillary clinton, this after revelations the private home server she used while serving as secretary of state contained close to two dozen top secret e- mails. >> the material is classified top secret because revealing it in public could pose a grave threat to the national security of this country. anyone can never be commander in chief in the united states. top secret is one of the highest levels preserved for material that if released could cause grave damage. overclassification

had stolen. >> jeffrey hart spent years working with the fbi. he told us based on those weapons, the agent was likely involved in s.w. a. t. the fbi has strict protocols for carrying weapons in your car. >> the fbi calms it a double lock standard where you have to have two locks on the car. the car has to be alarmed. >>reporter: most often, agents carry their badge on their person, not on their car. >> if you are following the protocols, these types of things won't happen. >>reporter: tonight, at least three police departments here are joining the search for those stolen weapons, this one of a handful of recent high profile thefts of law foe -- law enforcement guns. in july, a gun stolen from a federal bureau of land management's agent's car was used to shoot and kill kate on san francisco peer 14. in september, a muralist was shot to death in oakland. we got our hands on federal data for the past

five years and found theft of law enforcement guns in california jump 31% from 2014 to 2015. and in the past five years, there were 27 incidents in the bay area. one in santa clara could be the i and six in alameda county. but los angeles county has for highest number. 105 over five years. the fbi is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to an arrest. >> they'll do whatever they have to to recover them. >> kristin ayers, kpix 5678. a spokeamerican -- spokeperson says other miscellaneous property was stolen. the agent could face administrative discipline. facebook is banning private gun sales on its site. it ammonissed that change yesterday. some people used the site to buy and sell guns without going through background checks. private gun sales are already babbed on instagram.

morning, i'm mark kelly. thisser is kpix 5 news. >> good morning. it is 7:26 on this saturday morning, the 30th of january. i'm mark kill will i and julie watts is here with a check of our forecast for this saturday. >> yeah, we're talking about the big kick-off tonight. the superbowl city ribbon cutting this afternoon, and then the big fireworks show. the countdown celebration. so, we're taking a look at that forecast today, and we are going to take a look outside right now. a live look outside at the bay bridge where you can see partly cloudy skies out there starting out your day. later today, however, we are going to see an increase

there? >> good morning. we're starting to see some of the volunteers, some of the security personnel showing up here at the foot of market street. this is the main entrance to superbowl city. this promises to be the biggest and best village the nfl has ever put on at a superbowl event. that is of course because this is superbowl 50. it's going to be ready to open at 11:00 this morning. construction has been going on here at superbowl city for the past week, and we have a look inside at the village. it's set up to welcome tourists and locals alike. and family-friendly, full of foods with interactive displays, showcasing the bay area tech culture. there is a fan energy zone with virtual football games where reporters got a chance to test drive yesterday, and we're going to see performances by some big- name musical aacts here throughout the week. if you railly want to get into the game and willing to shell out a little cash, you can head over to the nfl

experience. that is going on at the interactive theme park puts your football skills to the test. it's also a mini museum of nfl memorabilia. we know there is a, ifinite number of seats in the stadium, and this is a great way for everyone in the bay area and all over california to come here and have your experience of superbowl 50. >> and the price for adults to get in to the muscon center for the nfl experience is 35 bucks. now, back to superbowl city tonight. there is going to be a big party here starting at 7:00. that is going to be when we'll see this. the relighting of the bay bridge lights. it's also have a free concert by chris isaac and a huge fireworks show with the bay bridge as a back -- backdrop. traffic has been rerouted around this neighborhood for the past week, and it certainly has become quite a challenge for commuters, but hopefully by this point, most people got the message, leave the car at home. there are lots of public

transit agencies, bart dropped you off by the entrance to superbowl -- superbowl city as does the san francisco bay ferry. if you are coming down here, some things to keep in mind. do not bring a bag bigger than 18 by 18 inches. no outside alcohol. you can buy beer and wine inside for a pretty penny. no weapons, no bikes or hoverboards. no lawn chairs and no pets. back out here live now, you can see there are metal detectors here at the entrance to superbowl city. security is going to be very tight. there are four of these entrances. everybody that wants to come and enjoy the free experience does have to go through those metal detectors. they have dogs around the area. the department of homeland security has been sweeping this neighborhood for the past couple of weeks making sure everybody is going to have a safe and fun celebration. mark, back to you. >> all right, ann, thank you so much. well, the approaching superbowl is prompting some really bizarre bets. online sports books are taking wagers

on everything from the color of the gatorade dumped on the winning coach. the odds for that are 3-1 on orange, to whether there's an earthquake within 50 mimes of the stadium. people can bet on whether someone catches on fire during the half-time show. that might be the most bizarre. the odds are long though, 150 to 1. if your superbowl fans include sight-seeing at the golden gate bridge, parking might be an issue. restrictions are now in effect. from now through superbowl sunday, the parking lot on the marin side of vista point will be closed from 11:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon every day. the bring district is concerned that the surge of superbowl tourists would have made for a traffic mess. >> it's something you have to do. everything talks about it on yelp. you come here. it's going to be terrible. >> so the only way you'll be able to get to vista point during the restricted times is by bus, shuttle, taxi, or

taking a ride share. well, if you think tickets to the superbowl are expensive, wait until you hear what it causes to play in the game. if the superbowl was happening in florida or texas, there would be no jump tax. had new jersey, it's as high as 9%. as sharon should explain, the tax in california is the nation's highest. california taxes players, kochs. those who earn more than a million get taxed at the top rate. 13.3%. cps my goal palmer. >> we live in a very, very expensive state. ordinary wage. >> california connected $229 million in 2013. the teams get taxed every time

city on kpix 5. our special coverage beginning to be at -- tonight at 7:00. a popular frontage road is back open after a hazmat spill. someone dumped used motor oil and transmission fluid into a nearby creek. they had to close the road to make way for clean-up equipment. the spill was at the intersection with carol road just east of livermore. >> it is testify nitly an intentional dump in the middle of the night or early mornings. >> happens often. >> more often than we like to see. >> the oil covered about a quarter mile of the creek. the clean-up is not done yet. crews are back out there this morning to get it all wrapped up. authorities are trying to track down two escaped inmates who made a stop in san jose. the two men reportedly spent wednesday and thursday night in room 14 at the alameda hotel. their white getaway van was

we are looking at our saturday forecast. a lot of folks are coming into town for the ribbon-cutting ceremony today at superbowl city. the fireworks show tonight. if you are heading not this morning, grab a jacket. temperatures are in the low east pretty much area-wide. forty-seven in santa rosa. # 1 in san francisco, and you can see a mix of sun and clouds right now. this is what is left from a system that has largely brought the heaviest rain to our north. many of us saw showers yesterday. most of us saw rain yesterday. today, we are starting to dry out. the next round of rain is actually going to stay pretty much far south. we're going to get a break this time around. taking you through futurecast. a mix of clouds with a few breaks in there. scattered showers but not really in the bay area this morning. as we advance on into the ribbon cutting ceremony, it is actually at around # 1:00 m. notice that we are seeing plenty of breaks in those clouds so starting to see more sunshine. the clouds increase tonight just in time

for the fireworks show. ahead of that system that will be approaching to our south, so we should have a great view of the fireworks none the less. now, that system bringing rain mostly to our south. so not going to see a whole lot of showers here. a couple of they shower -- stray showers possible. monday, we dry on out. from the storm track, you can see jetstream moving the heaviest rain to southern california. san diego, and that is where it will stay. in the meantime, we are going to see a mix of sun and clouds pretty much through the extended forecast. today partly to most he cloudy. becoming mostly cloudy this evening. tomorrow, rain chances if for the southern portion of our area. most of the rain will stay south of us. could see a couple of stray showers in t south bay and certainly the santa cruz mountains areas like that. the mix of sun and clouds for the second half of the day tomorrow. we are dry for the first half of your workweek. highs in the upper 50s. mostly cloudy. 52-degrees. if you want to stay home, you can watch it here.
