ferry building. it's the place to be all week for sports, music, fun, and food. building towards super sunday. good afternoon everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. >> and i'm michelle griego. >> the clock shows must a little more than six days. the super bowl teams are here. both arrived in san jose. and cate cauguiran is in the thick of things are how the super bowl crowds are affecting monday morning commuters. >> reporter: the first work commute day of super bowl l wasn't that bad. coming in was a little bit easier than the weekend. and also coming in if you looked up you might have noticed a new addition to the san francisco skyline. it's the first workday of super bowl l week. and as people made their way to

the office. here 50 floors up. two special flags rose above the san francisco skyline. kpix 5 got a special invite to the top where the denver broncos and carolina panthers flags are hoisted up. >> we'll be raising flags not in the state. >> and getting into the city is not -- >> i thought there might be more commute traffic just based on people not wanting to drive into the city but thankfully, it wasn't that bad. >> the are ramping up security, including doing random security checks. >> those are all things that would not be pleasant. >> if the officer is inside, expect to stand in another line for security checks like these people. >> reporter: as far as super

bowl city goes, so far it's an easy walk and much, much different from what we saw when it first opened. and today is a weekday. reporting live from super bowl city, cate cauguiran, kpix 5. >> people pouring into the area around justin herman plaza. and it's the first monday of super bowl week. and if you're going, you might want to bundle up. this was yesterday. several banners ripped down by the strong winds around the bay. you could see just how strong by looking at the flags in front of the ferry building. a lot of wind and some rain. let's get a quick look at the forecast. >> good afternoon. everybody. we have been talking about the winds all day. the winds are calm across the bay area and will be picking up later this afternoon. you can clearly see we have wind swept blue skies as we

take a bird's-eye view. the air temperature stands in the 50s. and a few 40s around the area. the winds 8 to 10 miles per hour. when you couple that with the air temperatures, only in the 50s to the low 60s and it feels a little raw. what we'll be feeling tomorrow is raindrops on the rooftops. we'll be talking more about that as the newscast continues. and a live look at levi's stadium in santa clara where the broncos and panthers will face off before nearly 70,000 fans. >> and first a chance for a more intimate meeting. kiet do has the store. >> reporter: there's heavy security and a lot of san jose police officers have surrounded the building and k-9 bomb units

test your strength. this place has it all. and hopefully, fans will agree that the bay area is redefining the super bowl experience. as an official welcome to super bowl l. the mayors of four bay area cities are taking part in a press conference. the mayors of san francisco, san jose, santa clara, and oakland all said that it's been an amazing opportunity for the bay area to be a part of. and as san francisco mayor ed lee said these four cities work together as a team. >> in bringing us mayors together. we know that our economies are much stronger if we're working in collaboration. our transportation systems will be stronger and our housing goals will be stronger. >> reporter: of course years go into planning a production like this. talks started back in september of 2013. and the one thing that can't be controlled is the weather. and that's been okay too. despite this being an el niño winter with on and off rain, they are calling the field conditions pristine. what more could you ask for for super bowl l? from the nfl
