super bowl li. good afternoon everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. >> and i'm michelle griego. the game is in the history books, the teams taking off from mineta airport. >> reporter: it's been a busy morning at sfo. they're believing this may have been one of the biggest departure dates ever to take place at sfo. they are expecting 85,000 to fly out. that's 25,000 than on a normal day of business. >> today is our game day. >> reporter: the super madness is not over yet. whenever they were applying out of san jose or san francisco --

charlotte were add to the schedule. and the airport opened an hour earlier than they typically do. cate cauguiran is live in san francisco where the massive teardown of super bowl city is well underway. hi, kate. >> reporter: i have new information. we're learning that the super brought in $1.1 million to the bay area. the bad news is that the roads will be closed until saturday. the super bowl may be over but road closures are still in effect. crews are in the process of breaking down super bowl city. the venue closed and a few more traffic setbacks for a few weeks. most commuters listened to the early warnings that this would take some time. >> there were a lot of people coming in and a lot of people

dismantling the large structure which stands 140 feet tall. it's the morning after super bowl l. and workers started streaming in at daybreak. one stopped to show a cell phone video of what the structure looks like inside. it's 14 stories tall and took weeks to build. >> it takes detail and attention to detail. and taking it down, you put it in a box. >> it's one of the largest temporary structures the nfl has built. >> did you ever doubt yourself? >> towards the end, the skins were having issue. >> reporter: crews still have a lot of work to do. tons of confetti remains and trash and debris everywhere and the awards stage is still intact. crews were carting tons of trash and debris to waiting

includes sales force, facebook lost 3%. in the east bay, police are looking for the gunman in another freeway shooting. two cars were hit by bullets on i-80. four lanes were closed for nearly an hour. the wounded person was driven to a vallejo hospital. and a third car was also hit by a bullet. this is the latest in a strip of shootings on i-80. two of them were on the same stretch of i-80 near san pablo dam road. two people are dead after a domestic dispute spiraled out of control. several people were fighting with sticks and bats. and a third person was wounded and taken to the hospital. no arrests have been made. and eyewitness video shows the fiery aftermath of a deadly

crash at 5th and brannen. the driver was doing doughnuts and sped away running red lights. the car crashed and burst into flames and the three men inside were -- were killed. we tried to help but the flames were so intense by the time we got there there was no way to get close. >> reporter: the witness told us four women got out of a nearby car and screamed for someone to help the men and nobody could. santa clara university students have another chance today to get free vaccinations against meningitis. three students were diagnosed with a strain of bacteria that can lead to a rare form of meningitis. the faculty is threatening to strike. the union announced they'll walk off the job for five days.
