three men gunned down at a popular bay area tourist spot. the shooter on the loose tonight. i'm brian hackney. >> good evening. i'm juliette goodrich. police discovered the bloody scene around 2:00 this morning at san francisco's twin peaks lookout. they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds, two have died. kpix 5 reporter joe vazquez is live with the latest on the search for the shooter. >> twin peaks an international landmark which makes it all the more shocking at someone came here this morning. shot three men and wild two of them. >> reporter: valentine's night on twin peaks, a gorgeous overlook of the city but it got ugly overnight. >> we're just trying to see the view and it's valentines weekend. it's so unfortunate. >> reporter: a gunman opened fire. two men were killed.

an 18-year-old was also shot. >> any time we have a violent attack like this we want to make sure we quickly apprehend whoever did it. >> this is not the first incident up there. there was a robbery as well. >> we've had auto break-ins, some violent crime but mostly auto break-ins. we don't have enough police officers. we need more police. >> just really tragic. really makes you appreciate moments like this, people you love, and try to enjoy the evening as much as we can. >> police are not elaborating. the gunman is still out there. reporting live, joe vazquez, kpix 5. new video tonight of a fire that tore through a victorian in san francisco. it left more than a dozen people without a place to live. now we're learning some of the

victims lost everything. kpix 5's maria medina is live in san francisco with the story. >> the good news is everyone got out okay. but certainly a lot of scary moments. one victim told me his neighbors had no idea their home was on fire until he told them to get out. >> you could hear the building next door burning. i could see the fire outside my window. >> reporter: without warning, shern kyer's life changed forever. >> i was in my room and i heard glass breaking. i heard glass break again so i went to my window and i could see the reflection of flames. >> reporter: by the time he saw the flames next door, it was too late. the fire quickly spread to the home he shares with several others with no time to grab anything. >> basically lost it all, essentially everything that i had is there gone in the house. >> reporter: the iconic san francisco victorian homes are attached to each other. he said their home was especially unique. >> the house we loved in was one

of the last communal living spaces in san francisco. >> the house mates, all strangers when they first moved in on fulton street. now a family helping one another at a time when they need each other the most. >> it's unfortunate our house was a hub for creativity and essentially that's gone so we'll figure that out later. >> it could be much worse. >> and there was one injury. an 11-year-old who had cut his foot. the fire is still under investigation. live in san francisco, maria medina, kpix 5. new tonight, the happiest day of a couple's life turned in to a nightmare when the father of the bride vanished after his daughter's wedding. he went for a walk during the reception yesterday in walnut grove near sacramento, but when the family was ready to head back to the bay area, he was gone. family members suspect something wasn't right. >> it sounded like he was a little different and wanted to

go back to india. >> the last few days he's been a little bit -- i'm not sure what the reason, but he's not doing well. >> rescue crews are focusing their search on the canal surrounding the wedding venue. we're told he works in san jose. an east bay driver has an unusual story to share after someone shot an arrow at his truck with a crossbow. it happened wednesday in fremont. the man was driving on milmont drive. he heard something on his pickup. he saw an arrow sticking on the side. police don't have any suspects or witnesses. two people are dead following a fiery crash in bodega bay overnight. the chp says the car veered off the road and slammed in to a tree. the man and woman inside died. investigators say it's too early to tell what caused the crash. and in oakland a drurfb is dead after barreling -- a driver is dead after barreling in to a parked semi trailer just before

1:00 this morning. the driver was taken to the hospital and expected to survive. police say the truck was headed southbound on 57th avenue when it crashed. no word on a cause. the death of supreme court justice scalia is creating political turmoil. the future of the high court is unclear because his replacement would become the swing vote. jan crawford says the stakes are high. >> reporter: he was a giant in the law. known for his sharp intellect and often sharp tongue, justice scalia's decisions influenced a generation. his death with have an immediate impact on the court, which will now be divided 4-4 among ideological lines. >> these are responsibilities that i take seriously, as should everyone. they're bigger than any one party. they're about our democracy. >> reporter: but with so much

at stake, republicans already were vowing to block any nominee. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell said this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president. paul clement, clerk for scalia, and has argued 80 cases before the court. >> he thought based on his methodology that there were right and wrong answers. as a result, if he thought the court was taking a wrong turn, he was going to tell them that. >> reporter: in 2008 scalia said he couldn't imagine doing anything else. >> when i first came on the court, i thought i would for sure get off as soon as i could, which would have been when i turned 65. because justices retire at full salary. so there's no reason not to leave and go off and do something else. but i cannot -- what happened is simply i cannot think of what i would do. i can't think of any other job i

was growing up. >> reporter: in 1978 jones landed a gig at the top recording studio in san francisco. she was a woman working in a field long dominated by men. >> they'd come in and say where's the engineer? i'd say i am the engineer. and they would just sort of look at me and it took about a half hour of getting a good drum sound for them to finally realize everything was okay. >> reporter: today she's the director of music, recording, and scoring at skywalker sound in marin county. from recording a classical pianist to a punk rock orchestra, she oversees it all. if jones wins the grammy, it will be her fourth, and it may be the sweetest. >> this one in particular would be very special. >> reporter: the nomination is for "ask your momma." a recording that features a little known poem by langston hughes.
