breaking news tonight, a deadly shooting at a mcdonald's in san francisco and it happens right across the street from a police station. good evening, i'm brian hackney. >> i'm juliette goodrich. it happened just before 3:00 this afternoon on golden gate avenue and fillmore street. that's in the western edition. kpix joe vazquez is there right now. >> this is the fillmore mcdonald's and right behind me you can see the car that was shot up, that white car right there. you can see three bullet holes in the passenger side window. just underneath them right on the door, two more bullet holes. police say the shots rang out just before 3:00 this afternoon. police say a driver and a passenger were in that white car

in a crowded mcdonald's drive-thru line. they apparently had gotten their order. suddenly police say a man came up and fired at close range at the passenger side door. >> both the driver and the passenger got out of the vehicle and the driver was unharmed but the passenger was transported to the hospital. >> kind of bold to do this across the street from the police department. >> yes. it is. in the middle of the afternoon. and there was a lot of pedestrian traffic and motor vehicle traffic. so it was very brazen. >> the shooting happened right there across the street from the northern station here at fillmore and turk. the victim collapsed on the side joaquin a few feet away from here. he was taken to the hospital. he died. the gunman got away. at this point the motive is unclear. it's not clear whether he was targeted or whether it was

random. reporting live, joe vazquez, kpix 5. the family of a missing hayward went to search for her today but got word from police that nobody wanted to hear. >> stacey aguilar's friends and family planned to launch a search for here near this hayward shopping center where she was last seen but at the final hour, the family canceled. police announced this afternoon they found strks -- found stacey's body yesterday. >> i don't want this to happen with my family too. >> karina also spoke with stacey's mom in mexico over the phone before police announced they found the body. >> she said she don't have any

information. she said why this happen to my daughter and she said thank you so much for trying to help find my daughter. >> reporter: stacey was last seen more than a week ago at a party here on silva and hayward. police have not said how she died. but today stacey's mom had already been fast losing hope of finding her daughter alive. >> very sad. >> reporter: in hayward, mark kelly, kpix 5. >> police plan to release more information about the homicide investigation tomorrow. michigan authorities are searching for answers tonight after a gunman went on a deadly rampage. it happened last night in kalamazoo. six people including a teenager were killed. kenneth craig tells us the victims were targeted at random. >> reporter: at one of the three shooting sites in kalamazoo, michigan, a memorial is growing as the community mourns the people killed in a deadly rampage. >> they weren't targeted for any reason other than they were there to be a target. >> reporter: authorities say

45-year-old jason dalton's spree allegedly began when he seriously wounded a woman around 6:00 saturday night outside an apartment complex. four hours later a father and son were killed at this car dealership. then investigators say dalton killed four women in a cracker barrel parking lot. a 14-year-old girl was seriously injured. dalton was arrested early sunday when an officer spotted his vehicle leaving a bar. investigators are now reviewing surveillance video that captured the shooting from several of the locations including here at the cracker barrel. cbs news confirmed he was working as an uber driver and passed the company's background check. ashley recognized him as the man who gave her a ride a week ago. >> he talked a lot. he gave us a creepy vibe because he didn't stop talking but he didn't seem off like crazy. >> reporter: authorities believe dalton would have continued his shooting spree if

he weren't stopped. kenneth craig, kalamazoo, michigan. >> police don't think the shooting spree was a terrorist attacked. he's expected to be arraigned tomorrow. >> he got maybe a mile from my house, he got a telephone call. after that telephone call, he started driving really erratically. running stop signs, kind of driving through medians, driving through the lawn. speeding along. then finally once he came to a stop i jumped out of the car and ran away. >> another uber passenger says she was supposed to be picked up by dalton after 11 p.m. but by that time six people had been killed. coming up at 6:30, why those who knew him are shocked about what he was accused of. fresh off her win in nevada, hillary clinton is in the bay area tonight and for $27,000 you can say hello. the democratic presidential

candidate is on the peninsula right now. this is from her visit to texas last night. she just wrapped up a private fundraiser in atherton and is now in menlo park. clinton is scheduled to attend another event in piedmont tonight. tickets to the atherton event start at $500, topping out at $27,000 and we'll have more on clinton's visit coming up at 6:30. the remaining republican candidates are shifting their attention now to nevada. the gop caucuses are on tuesday. as danielle nottingham reports the silver state could provide a golden opportunity for donald trump. >> reporter: donald trump is on a roll after picking up 50 delegates in his south carolina victory but trump is not underestimating his republican rival. >> i'm dealing with very, very talented people, smart people. i think they'll be competing. >> reporter: it's shaping up to be a three-man race between trump and marco rubio and ted cruz heading in to tuesday's

caucuses in nevada. rubio picked up the endorsement of nevada senator dean heller. it could be key in his effort to become the choice of establishment republican. >> the democrats do not want to run against me but i cannot wait to run against them. >> ted cruz is hitting the road hard in nevada after a disappointing third place vote. he said he's the only republican who's proven he can beat trump. >> do well in the first three states then have a strong night in super tuesday, i think we're ideally positioned to do that. >> do you think ted cruz can win nevada? >> yes, i'm hoping so. i really am. and i'm going to be one vote for him. >> reporter: senator bernie sanders was also looking to rebound from a tough loss in nevada to hillary clinton. he attended church services in south carolina sunday, trying to court black voters. the democrats have their next contest saturday in the palmetto

of sun microsystems is still trying to keep people off the beach. he's asking the state for $30 million in exchange for the beach. the billionaire bought a beach front property in 2008 then closed public access. negotiators say at $30 million, it's too high a price. isis is claiming responsibility for a series of deadly bombings in syria today. killing nearly 130 people and wounded hundreds of others. a bomb ripped through a vegetable market in a suburb damascus and in the city of palms two suicide bombers detonated. john kerry said a provisional agreement has been reached for a possible cease fire in syria's ongoing civil war. a curfew has been lifted in fiji after a powerful cyclone

hit the island. the monster storm brought hours of torrential rains and destructive winds. at least 10 people were killed. hundreds of homes destroyed. many parts of the island are without power. the government declared a national state of emergency for the next 30 days. all schools will be closed for at least a week as residents clean up what remains of their homes. a scary trip for dozens of people on the mega bus. a coach caught fire outside chicago this afternoon. passengers say they heard strange noises at the rear of the bus before flames broke out. all 40 passengers did get off the bus without any injuries but many lost all their belongings. as you can see here, a bus is destroyed. cause of the fire not known. mega bus is cooperating in the investigation but has not said if passengers will get any kind of refund or vouchers. still to come, no more fearing the beard, the new rule that requires everyone on a major league baseball team

guard came to the aid of the people who a dramatic rescue at sea this weekend off the coast of washington state. the coast guard came to the aid of three people who got caught in rough waters. a helicopter crew plucked two female surfers and a man who tried to help them from the ocean. they all were taken to a hospital and were reported in good condition tonight. razors will be in high demand for players on the miami marlins. new manager dan mattingly will enforce the ban on facial hair. he said he didn't care but is

going to support the new rule. the marlins made the change after they hired him. this means no beards, goatees, or mustaches. they haven't had a winning season since 2009. a lock of john lennon's hair has sold at auction for $35,000. a hair dresser kept some of the beatle's strands after giving him a haircut. the hair was one of several beatles-related items up for auction yesterday in dallas. >> and i shook paul mccartney's hand once. >> i should shake yours after that. we have a few high clouds floating in over the bay area tonight. that will lead to not much. we'll have more warm weather on tap for this week. warming trend that will send temperatures in the low to mid 70s. numbers on the chilly side as we head in to the evening hours this sunday night. 62 right now at concord and

oakland, 60 degrees. san jose, 61. out the door tomorrow morning, a little bit on the chilly side. we'll start out in the mid to upper 40s. but under mostly sunny skies. by tomorrow afternoon we'll be all the way in to the low 70s for part of the bay area. it will get warmer from there as we get in to the middle of the week. high pressure over the west coast keeps highs in the 70s all week long. that pressure moves in over the pacific northwest and vancouver island. for us, mostly sunny. storm track well to the north means it's high and dry this week. there's a little suggestion at least that by next saturday maybe we'll get a little bit of rain in the bay area but just luke we had this past week, it didn't amount to us and a lot of time between now and saturday but at the moment it doesn't look like much is going to happen. just futurecast. nothing but transparent skies. not even much in the way of high clouds. we're going to be having clear and chilly night this sunday
