judge sentenced leeland yee to a role in racketeering conspiracy. we're at the courthouse with more. >> reporter: yes, and he has 30 days to turn himself into federal marshals for that five-year prison sentence. the judge in today's hearing said it must be that public has trust in the institution of lee leaving the federal courtroom within the hour. he pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy and corruption charges for doing political favors and was caught making back room deals with undercover fbi agent, the same crimes that took down raymond shrimp boy chow. yi, himself, turned out in the senate, and running for secretary of state -- yee, and himself, had a bad debt as san francisco mayor. he took dirty money simply to

try to require more power. now, the other charge for a weapons running conspiracy, he could hook them up with high powered rifles from the philippines. we are had yee as pro gun control. he spoke before the court and said he takes full responsibility for what he did. here's his lawyer. >> here's remorseful and tired of humiliating his family and tired of what i would call a circus and he wants to get on with his life. . >> reporter: the judge expressed his condolences and his daughter was crying in the courtroom. he has 60 days to turn himself

in to federal marshals. before today's hearing, he was up and about, hugging, and laughing with supporters, but his sentence obviously a huge blow to former state senators lelang yee. kpix 5. and also sentenced, keith jackson who worked with yee on a couple campaigns. a judge sentenced jackson to nine years in prison for conspiracy, and had already pleaded guilty to racketeering. and four people who pled guilty after a robbery, and how it involved into a long standoff with police. >> reporter: in millepede ace, it's a thing line between the police department. >> i don't know what they were thinking. >> reporter: around 2:00, an officer leaving police headquarters heard the burglar alarm going off at target

master's. it's a gun store and shooting range. the officer saw a suspect climb off the roof and into a getaway car with a driver. those two suspects were arrested tend of a block. a third suspect was seen inside the store holding a weapon. officers ordered him to drop it and he did. since the suspects came in through the roof that meant the front door was locked and he couldn't just walk right out so he was trapped inside for several hourses and -- hours and could not surrenderer. >> he basically couldn't give himself up. >> a store manager came and officers arrested that suspect. >> reporter: and while they were searching the area for any weapons that might have been ditched a fourth suspect tried to bolt and he stripped off some of his clothes through a cement processing plant and jumped a wall but police arrested him along the train tracks covered in gray dust. the more manager didn't want to talk on camera but said the attempted heist next to a police

department was stupid. kpix 5. today oakland police confirmed an off duty officer was arrested on suspicion of assault in early december and went unreported for months until the east bay express reported on it and the alameda county d.a. is weighing criminal prosecution against that officer and four others. all three are on paid leaf. a third suspect in pleasanton is under arrest in connection with two armed robberies last weekend at stone ridge mall n. one incident, three -- in one incident, three suspects took a woman's purse and kicked her in the back after she fell to the ground n. another they took a purse from -- in another, they took a purse from a teenage girl and a i third suspect was arrested last night. and police need your help identifying a suspected warehouse thieve. a young white man with a black or navy blue cap, was seen riding in a gold colored pick up and police are not saying who owns the warehouse or what was

stolen. a union city man is in custody accused of taking a wild test ride that killed a car salesman in southern california. alex demetro test drove a corvette from a car max dealer and crashed into a tree yesterday. investigators say he was high on drugs at the time. the victim, car max employee, warren smally, who was in the passenger seat during that test drive, his coworkers held a vigil at the dealership and he's charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of drugs. a protest against the rehiring after san jose police officer is getting underway at the downtown superior courthouse. the officer was fired in october for posting threatening comments online about the black lives matter movement. earlier this month, an arbitrator acknowledged him to retire white. mayor sam lecard o plans to challenge the reinstatement, and the naacp is looking at other options.
