to the bay area. and the messy conditions aren't over yet. good afternoon, i'm frank mallicoat. i'm michelle gri we are tracking a storm that has brought flooding and other damage to the bay area. but the conditions aren't over yet. i am frank mallicoat. let's get to roberta gonzales. >> good afternoon, everybody.

this has been totally amazing. we were forecasting 1 foot of rain here in the bay area and we have seen just about that. we have seen that since friday. 11 miles outside of helzberg, 9 inches of rain. and 10 with over 6.25 and oakland, san jose and san francisco, healthy totals as well. this is our live high- definition doppler radar. did you see that pink son? that's snow falling on mount hamilton. we have seamen on again off and again -- off-again all day. heavy rain around finger wrote and toward the north the -- thinker -- vancar road. the pressure sagging down to the south. the rain will taper off as the afternoon progresses but on the other side of the coin, gusting winds.

san ramon, 16 miles per hour. 14 miles per hour in san rafael and also antioch. the winds are going to increase. the rain will decrease but we still have a series of storms rolling this way and frank, i'm going to track all the in a couple minutes. >> okay, thank you. jackie ward is following the high surf. >> the first, the massive cleanup after a day luge of mud swept through parts of santa cruz. >>reporter: the san lorenzo river showed no mercy to karen kirby. what is your next step? >> i don't know. i don't know.>> reporter: more than 10 inches of rain fell in the mountains over the weekend. between 10 pm sunday night and 3 am monday morning, the san lorenzo river rose over flood stage. water trapped debris everywhere. the river flooded, the lower level of care and's house was in 3 feet of water.

the computer, dressers, mattress, and a newly renovated bedroom, all ruined. her cars, full of mud and likely a total loss. the sound of dripping water will corrupt but by that time, it was too late. everything was already underwater. >> i came downstairs and heard like a river running through the house down here. it sounded like a river raging. i was like what? >> just a big surge of water. >>reporter: her neighbor james keeton fared little better. he moved his belongings and cars to higher ground days ago. the swift current gave people little time to react. >> i saw a 20 foot boat come down upside down. that's very unusual, i would say. >> reporter: further north along lexington reservoir, almond road saw mudslides. the biggest slide blocked one lane at sarasota lane. the

weekend has been great news for water levels into the reservoir, albeit a little brown from the selfie run off. we have not seen it this high in quite some time. >> i am loving this. we need the water. >> reporter: in the santa cruz mountains, kit dale. >> and a roof partly collapsed at a business on greenwood avenue. the business was closed so no one inside was there. they are checking to see if the rain from the weekend is the cause. and a man is being treated for injuries after his car went down an embankment. high surf is drawing a lot of onlookers to the western edges of san francisco. jackie ward reports from ocean beach where beachcombers are being warned about potentially dangerous waves. >> you don't need to look at

the extended forecast to know el nino and it's storms are back and feeling dangerously big wave the power behind them reminds us to be aware of recurrence cost takeaways and never turn our backs on the ocean. >> normally, there would be half of this from the coast and these are really big and kind of beautiful. with the temporary letup and a series of storms, a lot of people came to check out the waves. >> we decided, let's go check out the beach because we heard the waves are huge. there definitely huge. >> i think it's absolutely beautiful. there's nothing better than to come out here and experience the waves. we were pretty lucky. >> for these two people visiting from washington dc, el

nino looks a little different on the west coast than it does on the east. they were hoping for that dry weather we typically get in march. >> it's kind of a bummer but at the same time, it brings about these great waves. i guess i can complain that much. >>.com, it's definitely hotter than usual. that's good for us so we got a mild winter. >> reporter: certainly can, the lanes of the great highway closed and remain that way today. when wind gusts get as because they have recently, these lanes are closed so drivers won't be blinded by sand. although these waves are dutiful to look at, they can be dangerous. a high surf advisory is in effect until 10 pm tomorrow -- 10 am tomorrow morning. >> as jackie said, the high surf advisory is in effect until 10 am tomorrow morning. so far, a miracle much for tahoe ski resorts. they got a ton of snow overnight. better yet, more on the way. here are some pretty happy skiers enjoying the powder.

between the car and a utility pole. >> a white male, bald, running from the scene. >> reporter: officers chased him to this mobile home park but couldn't find the suspect. we do know the car was stolen from a dealership in livermore last night and the suspect left several items in the car that officers hope will help catch him. >> we are still following many avenue was. >> reporter: right now, investigators are dusting for fingerprints hoping that something might lead them to their man. in castro valley, and mackovic -- anne mackovic. funeral services will be held at the ronald reagan presidential library. >> reporter: flowers and cards pay tribute to nancy reagan outside the ronald reagan presidential library and museum.

average price of gasoline ie u-s has jumped by seven cen over the past two weeks. the current average is one dollar and it's casting more to fill up your vehicle. according to aaa, the average price of gasoline in the u.s. has jumped by seven cents in the past two weeks. the current average is $1.81 a gallon. industry analysts named the hike for -- blame the hike on the demand for higher crude oil prices. $2.45 is the average in california, up six cents from a week ago. amazon confirmed a second brick and mortar bookstore. the company established its first store a few months ago in seattle. the new one will be in san diego. amazon may be helping to use the retail floor environment to find out what is selling but the revenue from a few stores would likely bill -- likely be
