off with the fbi in newport. stopping the trouble on the tracks. why bart say -- good morning, i'm frank mallicoat. >> and i'm michelle griego. >> the commuter buses continue to run today between the pittsburgh bay point and north concord stations. kpix reporter jackie joins us live with more. jackie. >>reporter: okay. so for those who may not know, bart trains are made up of three different cars, a, b, and c. the c cars have been inspected by the power surge and why they haven't figured out how to stop the problem, they're getting closer to finding the cause. mondays are hard enough. >> there were buses at bart and i've been doing this since wednesday. >> add an additional leg to your commute and monday can be annoying. >> it caught me off guard

because i'm rushing. monday morning, like, oh, i have to catch the bart, but oh, no. everybody has to catch the bus. >> [indiscernible]. it's an inconvenience not to jump on the bart. >> this morning, bart commuters were still feeling the effect of wednesday ease power surge that knocked 80 cars out of service. 557 cars are in service today, but that's 22 short of bart's minimal requirement of 579 cars. >> we have outside experts trying to figure out what is the cause. >> to find that cause, it's a painstaking process of laying out every single possibilities, then eliminating them one by one. >> it's a long tedious task. it's not as quick as we want and the riders one, but it's a way to uncover what's happening. >> instead of waiting for much needed parts that may take months to be delivered, bart engineers

are getting creative in order to -- if we take about ten cars and take all of the working parts out, we sacrifice the ten cars, but we can get 30 to 40 extra cars into service. >> a power surge problem that stems from the west oakland station happened last month forcing bart to take dozens of trains out of service. measurements taken over the weekend, engineers saw a spike in voltage which tells them they're getting closer. it's not happening at a surge station and it's an electrical problem and something occurring on the track quickly. bart is and has been running test trains between the pittsburgh and north concord bart station. they're allowing passengers on those test trains to see if the weight effects the track. that's okay because they say it isn't a safety issue, but they're trying to figure out what caused this problem and finding a resolution, they haven't given a day yet. at the

key suspect in t cks. right now, the search is on for one accomplish of the key suspect in the deadly paris attack. police captured salum friday about five blocks from the house he grew up in. this is thought to be him shot in the leg dragged into an unmarked police car. authorities believe he may have been planning more attacks. they're looking for a 24-years-od man who allegedly traveled last year with salum. new information of the black boxes belonging to the flight that crashed in

russia. the flight box is damaged. as you can see, experts haven't been able to read the data. the plane crashed. all 52 people onboard were killed. authorities ruled out terrorism as a cause of the crash. investigators say a botched robbery may have led to a deadly shooting at a pennsylvania turn pike. 54-year-old clarence killed a toll booth operator before he killed himself. turnpike officials were stunned that such crime could ever happen. >> we're deeply saddened by this horrific system. our system is very secure and very safe. we want to make sure if there's more we can do, we'll do it. >> investigators say brigs filed for bankruptcy last year and been accused of domestic assault. a jury is considering punitive damages against

hanging offshore for days and it's going to push the showers through and a last burst of moisture before high pressure regains control over the eastern pacific. at the same time it's lifting the surge up to 20 feet. high surf advisory posted by the shoreline. and out in the mountains, winter weather advisories as the rain turns into snow up top. 4500 feet of snow and you can pick up 8 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. chain restrictions if you're headed to the sierras. we have showers forecasted to come through the bay area and wave after wave, not of continuous rain, but we'll have shower popping up here and there. it looks like it's going to clear and you'll get a shower and that's sfring storm fashion which will continue through the evening hours and early tuesday before we dry it out. not huge amounts from this. but nevertheless, carry an umbrella. the workweek begins cool. more rain in the north bay. heading down to the south
