bart says its trains are back on schedule after major delays in the east bay this morning. kpix five minutes -- >> reporter: the number one complaint these days -- >> unpredictability. >> it's very frustrating. >> reporter: the problem this morning, a car crashed into the bart friends before 8 am. -- fence before 8 am. police were chasing a burglary suspect. he was soon caught but the damage was done. bart but the fence was not too close to its tracks so it only ran one train at a time on this stretch for about an hour causing delays from pittsburgh to ffo. >> when you try to account for some of the delays, when they tried to let us know before hand, it's still not something where i can make sure i get to work on time.>> reporter: this is the same line experiencing power surges. the writers on that stretch

have to board separate trains. that problem marked -- knockd dozens of cars out of service this month. >> people can start to feel angry towards each other.>> reporter: bart system is aging while ridership is at its peak. >> i look forward to it. >> reporter: it will be interesting to see if people's frustrations mean they are willing to put more money into the system. there will likely be a big tax measure this november. kpix 5 news . state lawmakers are on the brink of passing the highest minimum wage. the measure would increase the minimum wage to $50 an hour by the year 2022. the bill fell through the assembly committee yesterday and if it clears the majority, the democratic legislature today, it goes straight to the governor's desk. researchers from berkeley say the wage hike could increase pay for 5 million californians.

police are investigating apparent robberies on the california campus tuesday night just after 7 o'clock at the ellsworth parking structure. police say someone grabbed a 19- year-old man from behind while another person grabbed his wallet. both suspects run away and later that night, another robbery was reported near the octagon borage -- bridge. a high-speed chase ends with the driver crashing into a military base in the central valley. a wrong way driver crashed through a gate that into a fighter jet at the naval air station in the more it happened late last night at the driver and the passenger died. >> regardless of procedures we have in place, something went wrong and we had a tragic accident we had some loss and damage to an aircraft and two losses of life so we have to figure out a way to keep that from happening in the future your>> navy officials said the base was not intended target and the people who died were not affiliated with the military. at least 28 people were killed when an over -- and

alcatraz, angel island. visibility is unlimited this morning. the winds are pret much 7 miles an hour. satellite and radar suggests that we have at stacking up next to the coast. a relatively thin layer but it pushed onshore today and that is in 150 miles. we have had a variety of clouds from the fog from the low-end mid-level clouds causing delays earlier today but those delays no longer exist. sunshine on friday with seasonal highs. and today, rain chances. low pressure is still trying to divert. high pressure to the north of us. you can see the when particle maps with these lined up very tightly together and that means breezy west winds today. that really does add a chill to the air. this is our state map. going to 73 in sacramento. a good-looking beach day and in the high sierra's, grates keyboarding. if you don't believe me, take a look at this live weather

imported honey do on the market right now. this time of year, they start in south america and move up to mexico and the quality is great. sometimes, it's just as good as the summertime. summertime honeydew melons. locally, that's different but these are fantastic. you buy them, you want them to be a light cream color, not green.

you have a small cavity. when you bring them home, spread them on the counter. unlike cantaloupes. they continue to get sweeter. we really do. so on the counter, rub your hands like this and when they are nice, that means the sugar is all out ready to enjoy. and unused portion, of course, you don't have to eat the whole honey do. but that in the refrigerator. honey do's are on the market right now and a little bit of light brown like that is also good. this one is going to be so sweet, it might give you a count of -- a cavity. always remember to eat fresh and stay healthy. remember smurf, the abused purple kitten, he has recovered from his injuries and has a new adopted home at the animal shelter. >> you could see a little wet and all over.

>> he was dyed purple and covered with bite marks when it came to the nine lives foundation. the nonprofit founded by dr rudiger. >> the 13-year-old redwood city shelter is one of the only known no-kill cat shelter's in the bay area. it adopted out about 1700 cats last year.>> my first rescue was cats from a shelter.>> take these kittens getting medical care. the doctor got them from another shelter. >> if they don't find another rescue sierra after -- shelter. our second mission is to help prevent those cats from getting into the system in the first place and you do that by encouraging spay and neuter. >> chris needed help to trap and neuter several cats in her neighborhood. she says other organizations gave her the cold shoulder but not the doctor.>> she totally
