,, your realtime captioner is linda marie macdonald. beach. good evening, i'm juliette goodrich we begin with breaking news the search for two teenaged boys missing in the waters off ocean beach. good evening, i'm juliette goodrich. >> i'm brian hackney. the teenagers were swimming near the shore on ocean beach in san francisco when a wave swept them away. according to san francisco fire

officials, at least two other people who were with the boys managed to get to shore. those victims were taken to the hospital. we don't have any word at this hour on their conditions. now, the national weather service had issued a beach hazard statement. it was in effect wednesday and thursday. the statement affected and referred to riptides but that beach hazard statement expired last night. that doesn't necessarily mean riptide has expired, as well. we have a crew at ocean beach gathering new details. again, conditions out there have been fairly hazardous all week. as we go back to the beach, they have police tape people keeping back from the scene. we're once again, four people were swept out to the ocean apparently. two were rescued. two have not been seen since. there are rescue crews right there right now trying to find the two other boys who were swept out to sea. we'll bring you updates as soon as we get them. all right. turning to other news now, we

are following some breaking news in ecuador. a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the central coast damaging buildings and shaking homes. local media reports at least one house and overpass collapsed. at this point, no reports of injuries and we'll bring you new information just as soon as we get it. now, to the other big story today a change of pace here. the golden state warriors beginning their play-off run and the defending champions made it clear they are the team to beat. the warriors dominated the game from the beginning reaching a 27-point lead by halftime and the rockets, well, they just couldn't keep up. warriors win game one of the series, 104-78. kpix 5's maria medina is live at oracle arena with the excitement for fans. hi, maria. >> reporter: hey, you know, it is quiet here now but just a few hours ago, a much different story. the energy was electrifying. and the game was sold out.

right by them every step of the way. so tickets with still available for monday's game and i checked just a few minutes ago and the cheapest was going for about $150. live in oakland, maria medina, kpix 5. there was one downside to game one. steph curry rolled his ankle near the end of the 2nd quarter. he played very little after that. and coach kerr says he is questionable for game two. we'll have more on today's game and curry's injury coming up in sports. and, of course, the next game is in oakland on monday. the series then moves to houston for games 3 and 4 and then back here for game 5 if needed. game 6 in houston if needed. and game 7 would be back in home, as well. a wild scene played out on the rooftops of the san francisco neighborhood today. police say that a burglary suspect hit two russian hill apartments this morning holding one tenant at gunpoint. after allegedly pointing the gun at officers, the man escaped to a rooftop.

but his getaway stopped when he fell from a three-story building. >> then went jumping like in a movie roof to roof to roof to roof and then jumped off the last one. >> a car parked on the street below broke his fall. now he is recovering in the hospital. he will face many charges including false imprisonment and burglary. san francisco police have identified the officers involved in the deadly shooting of a homeless man in the mission district last week. sergeant nate steger and officer michael malone fired at luis gongora. they said he was running at them with a knife. officer malone was the first san francisco police officer last year to administer life- saving medicine to a man who overdosed on heroin. a bizarre mystery in a quiet south bay city. the decomposing body of a man found behind the saratoga pet spa on big basin way. a man told police that he smelled some strange odor and then checked some store

cabinets and that's where he found the remains. police say they have no age or identification but until they know more they are calling the death suspicious. fire investigators are looking for the source of flames that damaged two homes in san francisco's marina district. they started at the home at 3627 scott street. it was badly damaged along with the house next door. there's no word on injuries or the cause. and a newark intersection was closed for hours this morning by a gas spill. investigators say a tanker truck hit a fire hydrant at newark and cedar boulevard just before 4 a.m. the collision ruptured the tank spilling gas into the road. it was cleaned up and the roads reopened about 2 hours later. at the top of the show we mentioned that two teens were swept into the ocean off ocean beach. search is under way now. emily turner is there live. >> reporter: i just spoke to public information officer for san francisco fire department. he told me that there were five teenagers who waded off the

coast close to seal rock near where the cliff house is and they linked arms and then waded into the water. you can see the search is still going on behind me. basically what happened is those five individuals were about knee deep in the water when either a wave or the rip current or something swept them out into the sea. three of the teenagers were recovered. they are not hospital. they will be fine. but two of them, two 17-year- olds, are still missing. they have been missing since just after 4 p.m. this afternoon. at this point, the coast guard, the fire department, they are all out on the water trying to figure out where these boys went because they could either go north or south because the tide was going out and that's the way that the water moves at that point. it's been so long, this may switch from a rescue to a recovery mission. but we should know more within the next hour and, of course, we'll be here live to be sure to bring that to you. emily turner, kpix 5. still ahead, hillary

san francisco police and "ud playaz more than 100 guns off the streets now thanks to another buy back events. san francisco police and united players partnered to buy the guns from anyone willing to turn them in. people were paid $100 for a handgun, $200 for assault weapons, 2 of those were turned in. >> guns just laying around. where they don't need to be. kids are shooting other kids. people are breaking into houses stealing people's guns and doing bad things with them so just have some guns laying around we are trying to get them off the streets. >> united players began its gun buy-back efforts after the sandy hook elementary school killings. at the last event in december they collected nearly 250 guns. rock band metallica returned to its bay area roots by playing a free concert today in berkeley. the band rocked the house at a rare in-store concert at rasputin's record store and it

high. it was exactly 110 years ago tonight that we were 34.5 hours away from a magnitude 7.8 earthquake. the great 10906 earthquake in 1906 quake in san francisco. the anniversaricy is monday. about 5:00 tonight ecuador got a great quake in 7.8 earthquake in muisne off the coast of ecuador. that's big. the interesting thing here, not only the fact that a 7.8 is going to cause problems. it was preceded 10 minutes before by a 4.0 quake not unlike what happened in san francisco in 1906. our great quake was also preceded by a shaker that was probably around a magnitude 5. this is just happened recently within the past few hours. not many reports of damages or injuries but they will come in all night. as soon as we have more information we'll let you know. back in the bay area things

warm today. 82 santa rosa 84 concord. in the 80s in san jose. oakland and hayward those are the highs from today. they are going up another five to six degrees for sunday. 76 in san francisco today. temperatures still in the 80s in concord. san francisco 73. in fact, it was a very pleasant day to stroll the marina green. a great day to get outside all over the bay area. and people here in san francisco were exercising, riding bikes, playing soccer and who knows, doing that rarest of rare things, outside in the city, breaking a sweat. cherry blossom festival beautiful weather for that tomorrow. tomorrow they have the grand parade from the civic center to japantown. forecast tomorrow 79 in the city. and here's what's happening. high pressure building in more strongly. so we have a warming trend. get a little bit of an offshore shift in the wind. things will warm up tomorrow. sunny and warm all weekend. offshore winds means warm and dry sunday cooling down a little bit on monday. more on tuesday and wednesday. there's a hint, more than a hint really, a number of the

models are coming to an agreement with the idea that there will be some rain next friday. so we'll see. overnight lows tonight, with sunrise tomorrow morning at 6:31 a.m., daytime highs tomorrow 16 degrees warmer than average in san francisco. east bay we'll get close to 90. around 680 corridor in the mid- 80s. north bay no low clouds just sunshine and temperatures topping out in the low 80s inland. and then up in the clearlake area, 88 cloverdale. 88 rohnert park. extended forecast we are looking for a warm sunny sunday with temperatures beginning to decline on tuesday and then coming down more wednesday and thursday. by friday increasing clouds will lead to a chance of a few showers coming in on friday and then saturday we'll go partly cloudy skies. so weather ahead looks hot. you know, that could also describe the warriors! and even andrea nakano.

after facing the warriors ie well, what a day in oakland! the wars just played the houston rockets in the westerns conference finals last season, as the number one and number two matchups. but this year the rockets limped in as number 8 and they get the pleasure of playing the "dubs" once again who have beaten them 11 of the last 12 times. steph curry was ready for this

game loosening his arm up a little bit before the game. early on, curry and patrick beverly get into a shoving match. both players got technical fouls. very next possession, draymond green sends a message by flattening beverly and main a little know there by beverly. green misses the layup but ezeli flies in for the put-back dunk giving golden state a 20-6 lead. this is a kind of afternoon though it was for houston. dwight howard misses the easy dunk. warriors on the run. andre iguodala finds curry for the amazing land to make it 51- 49. curry had 24 points in the first half. late in the first half he rolled his ankle and went back to the locker room. he returned for just three minutes in the second half before sitting the rest of the game. without curry golden state still maintained a comfortable lead. late third green scored down low to make it 79-57. he had 12 points and 10 rebounds. as for curry, he didn't seem too concerned about his ainge

>> it was a really busy day here in oakland. while the warriors were playing the rockets, there was a baseball game right next door. as the a's welcomed the defending champions right next to oracle arena. the kansas city royals. it was steven vogt throwback jersey day today. bottom of the 1st inning, kansas city up 1-0. redick a three-run shot and just like that it's 3-1 oakland. that was enough support for sonny gray who struck out six and allowed one earned run in six innings of work to get his second win of the year. bottom of the 7th, vogt's jersey day second home run of the day, solo shot makes it 5-2 and they win 5-3 to snap their four-game losing streak. a busy day continues in sports. the giants playing now and sharks play-off hockey coming up tonight. we'll have that at 11. back to you guys.
