>> and chopper 5 found lights out at several intersections. police are reminding drivers that complete power outages should be considered the same as a four-way stop sign. >> here's a look at the areas impacted right now on the pg&e power outage map. we've also learned that bart service was out. it is now being restored in that area. again, trains running through the berkeley area once again. and good afternoon. thank you for joining us. i'm kenny choy. >> and i'm anne makovec in for michelle. don ford is live in berkeley on the ground right now. what's it looking like, don? >> reporter: right here at austin and shattuck, power is still out for as far as i can see. traffic is backed up. but a few moments ago, the bart station was reopened and folks are starting to go back down inside. the trains themselves were never impacted. the third rail was always energized, but the station itself was black, dark.

the escalators did not move because power was out at the station. a little while ago, bart engineers did bring in a 300- kilo volt, and it looks like it all went back together. >> don ford, live in berkeley, thank you. right now, the search is on after a brazen robbery at the grand california casino in pacheco. jackie ward is there live, where police have released surveillance images. >> reporter: kenny, the casino is open. it has been for the majority of the day, despite the suspect still being on the loose. the sheriff's department isn't telling us what was taken. at 4:45 this morning, police responded to a call. a perimeter was quickly set up and customers were evacuated. no one was injured and no shots were fired. people did see a man wearing a

halloween mask of some sort, carrying an automatic rifle. >> a person came in with a gun and pointed it at staff and customers as well. it was very frightening. we got out here as quickly as we could. by the time we got out, the suspect was gone. >> reporter: these are the surveillance images the sheriff's office just released to us. they aren't the best quality, but you can make out the bright orange gloves and face masks the suspect was wearing. police believe this is a man who is about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. he was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants. this case is still very much under investigation, so if you have any information related to it, you're asked to call the sheriff's department. in pacheco, jackie ward, kpix 5. >> and how long did the entire ordeal last, jackie? >> reporter: kenny, they are still reviewing surveillance footage, so they aren't giving us an exact time or duration right now. they said not very long. the man got into the casino, headed to a table, then quickly fled from there. back to you.

now to a wild police chase in san carlos that ended with the suspect's car on top of a sheriffs cruiser. chopper 5 was overhead as the patrol car was being towed from el camino real and arroyo avenue. around 7:30 this morning, a woman crashed into a san carlos fire station, then into a safeway in belmont. when they tried to stop her on el camino real, they say she reversed the car and ended up on top of the cruiser. the suspect has been identified as karen hikeman of san carlos. she and an officer ended up with minor injuries. in a developing story, a san jose neighborhood is on edge this morning. >> on edge this morning after a man and woman were found dead inside a home. kpix 5's kiet do has the latest on the double homicide investigation. >> reporter: the victims are described as the nicest couple in the neighborhood. warm, friendly, really good people, which is why the news of a double homicide here is all the more shocking. >> things like this never happened before, so a little

bit worried about it. >> reporter: police aren't releasing the names of the victims, but neighbors tell us it was the rabbis discovered killed in their home sunday afternoon. family members had been trying to contact the couple for sometime and finally went to the door to investigate. when nobody answered the door, they called police and officers found the two dead inside. investigators have been tight- lipped about suspects, motive and cause of death. the couple lived at the home for the past 15 years and had two older sons. they were very friendly and made sure that when a neighbor moved in, he felt welcomed. >> they even come and say hello and give me a box of candy. so they are really nice. >> reporter: family members did not want to talk on camera. the house has sat quiet and empty ever since police cleared the scene early this morning. this has been an unusually busy time for homicide detectives. there have been five homicides in just over a week in san jose. in the east foothills of san jose, kiet do, kpix 5. warrior fans should learn the severity of steph curry's

upcoming elections. the kasich campaign issued a statement saying we will shift our campaign resources west and give the cruz a clear path in indiana. cruz is returning the favor out west, saying they will clear the path for governor kasich to compete in oregon and new mexico. >> i'm not going to spend resources in indiana. he's not going to spend them in other places. what's the big deal? >> reporter: trump responded, saying this is another example of what he believes is wrong with washington and the political system. he called it come collusion. trump has a big lead in polls this week, as does hillary clinton on the democratic side. clinton, close to locking up the nomination, released a new television ad in the states voting tomorrow, calling for bernie sanders supporters to join her. ♪ sanders says he's staying in the race until the end.

for testing. antonin garcia-torres is accused of killing lamar four years ago. her body was never found, but prosecutors say her dna was found in garcia-torres' car. he could face the death penalty if convicted. right now, senate committee is meeting, hoping to prevent another deadly balcony collapse like the one we saw in berkeley last summer. six people died and seven others were injured when this balcony gave way. an investigation showed that water got trapped in the wood during construction and caused dry rot. in sacramento this afternoon, lawmakers are talking about improving contractor oversite. today, grief counselors will be on the campus of el ham bra high school. >> they will be working to help students deal with the death of freshman andrew perilla. the circumstances of his drowning are unclear. he was a football player at al

ham bra high school. lawmakers working to pass a bill to prevent drunk driving. advocates of mothers against drunk driving testified today in support of a new bill that would require admission interlock devices for all convicted drunk drivers. [ no audio ] it's a battle between the rights of coyotes and pets in san francisco. the city has been trying to figure out the right balance after a string of coyote attacks on pet dogs and cats. pet owners are pleading for help. today, a behavioral ecologist will make a presentation on coyote coexistence with more than 20 neighborhood agencies. so far, coyotes have been spotted around bernal heights, engleside terrace and stern grove. to new details, the owners of bay area bike shares revealed the location for its first six east bay stations. they will be at libraries in berkeley and oakland and at

emoryville's town hall. the new stations are expected to open by the end of the year. under the program, cyclists can buy annual permits or short- term passes. bike share is already widely in use in san francisco, san jose and the peninsula. this just in, the nfl winning its deflate-gate appeal. a federal court reinstating tom brady's suspension. the new england quarterback was originally suspended for four games over allegations he was involved in the under-inflating of game balls. a u.s. court overturned the suspension last year, but today, the 2nd u.s. circuit court of appeals in new york upheld the suspensions. if this sticks, brady could miss the first four patriots games this year. and raider nation is really bringing it. this could be a first in raiders franchise history. the team is on the verge of selling out season tickets. that is according to team owner mark davis. a spike in ticket sales could help the team in its push for a new stadium in oakland. the team recently signed a one- year lease to stay at the

in tamir's 2014 death. officer timothy logan, a trainee, shot tamir in response to a call. nearly one month after the belgium terror attacks, the brussels metro station where 16 people were killed is back open today. for many, it's obviously an emotional commute. >> rather difficult to come here again. >> it's strange. it's strange. you tend to look to all the other passengers. it's strange. >> increased police patrols remain in effect. along the platform, handwritten notes on the station wall expressing condolences for those killed in the attacks. president obama is sending an additional 250 special operation troops to syria. those u.s. forces will not do

that promises to bring us some rain showers by midweek. until then, lots of bright sunshine to kick start this brand-new work week. breezy conditions remaining with us all day long. that's going to usher the pollen around. then again, we have the chance of rain tomorrow night, but more likely on wednesday. pollen reports suggested if you're sneezing and wheezing and your eyes are itchy like mine, blame it on the oak, mulberry and the grasses. that count remains on the medium to high side. looks like it will continue to be medium to high at least for another day. here's the deal. whenever you see these lines really close together, this is called our wind particle map. it means we have a pressure gradient, lows coming in, highs exiting. between the two, it's a tight squeeze. that's why we have the winds. here's our future cast. i planned it out so we can see increasing cloud cover on tuesday. that's your rain showers for wednesday morning's commute. that storm quickly exits as it sags to the south and moves to the east and leaves behind about 0.3-inch of rain, quarter of an inch in san jose.
