>> and i'm michelle griego. officer jason lai resigned from the police department earlier this month after dozens of offensive texts were sent by him and to him. jackie ward has details. jackie? >> reporter: michelle, we didn't see every single text message that was sent but saw enough to make anyone uncomfortable. the public defender obtained the pages of unedited text from march of 2015 to august 2015 and it included derogatory terms about blacks, indians, hispanic and gay people and even made a joke about internal affairs reading the texts. >> when we're talking about bias precincts and racial profiling, there is a direct connection to these associations that are being made by officers being implicit

execution. en four days since t in a developing story, investigators are looking into the possibility that a mexican drug cartel killed eight members of a family in a pre- planned execution. it's been four days and nobody has been placed under arrest. the family had a marijuana grow house on the property. among the victims, 37-year-old dana rhoden. her father thinks she knew the killer or killers. >> whoever knew the family because there were two dogs there that would eat you up. >> more than 60 people have been interviewed by investigators, and it's believed there may be more than one killer because there are four crime scenes. at least 50 protesters arrested at the north carolina statehouse protesting the hb 2 bill last night. it puts into policy a ban for people using a public bathroom that does not correspond with
