>> and i'm michelle griego. officer jason lai resigned from the police department earlier this month after dozens of offensive texts were sent by him and to him. jackie ward has details. jackie? >> reporter: michelle, we didn't see every single text message that was sent but saw enough to make anyone uncomfortable. the public defender obtained the pages of unedited text from march of 2015 to august 2015 and it included derogatory terms about blacks, indians, hispanic and gay people and even made a joke about internal affairs reading the texts. >> when we're talking about bias precincts and racial profiling, there is a direct connection to these associations that are being made by officers being implicit

and explicit of what ask happening -- is happening on the streets. >> reporter: the department said they do not reflect the department as a whole and officer lai has resigned. in san francisco, jackie ward, kpix 5. >> jackie, the big question is what's next? >> reporter: this investigation stemmed from a sexual assault investigation. investigators couldn't find enough to charge lai with sexual assault charges but found enough to charge him with multiple misdemeanors and he accessed dmv records illegally. back to you. >> thank you, jackie. this is the second time in a year that racist texts have come to light. the mayor said he doesn't believe this reflects the city as a whole. >> i don't tolerate any police

paperwork asking a minneapos prince's sister said that the musician had no known will. she filed paperwork asking a minneapolis court to appoint a special administrator to oversee his estate.
