suspect ended on highway 17 in campbell. kiet do is live with new information about the man under arrest. >> reporter: good afternoon. here we are more than 25 hours after the fact and this murder crime scene is actives with deputies and an evidence truck to process the scene. this is a narrow twisty private mountain road in a remote area. how did the suspect know to allegedly come all the way up here? andre redmon's eyes were red. he was pepper sprayed. investigators say he was the driver of this prius led deputies on a chase on 17, crashed it at hamilton avenue and ran. a person in the prius died and redmon has been charged with murder. it unclear how he died. >> this is a complicated indicate due to the fact of how many moving crime scenes there were, how many potential

victims and suspects there are. >> reporter: a home on madrone drive near los gatos in the redwood estates areas had one person shot to death and two more injured. it's not clear how redmon knew them or he had ended up from his address in san francisco. no motive is known yet since the suspect is not cooperating. the 43-year-old faces two counts of murder and false imprisonment, one county of kidnapping with intent to commit robbery and burglary and this case could get more complicated with more suspects and victims. >> it has the potential of becoming a bigger case. we are still investigating this crime. >> reporter: no telling how long these deputies will be out here. andre redmon is in jail without bail. in the santa cruz mountains near los gatos, kiet do, kpix 5. san francisco's city hall now split on whether to keep police chief greg suhr on the job. four supervisors are joining a

group of protestors called the "frisco five" in calling for his ouster. the frisco five are now out of the hospital after holding a hunger strike. >> we can't believe that ed lee is still behind chief suhr even after the blue ribbon findings amongst other things of course. that the supervisors reacted very late and our health paid the consequence for that. >> we caught up with mayor lee earlier. >> i recognize the politics. but the chief has not been on an stackle. he is chapel -- he has not been an obstacle and is holding officers accountable when needed. >> he may change course if there are changes. a agreement is reached with bart's labor contract and the board of supervisors is

expected to vote on it today. if approved, the contracts will be applicable for the next five years. changes include a 2.5% pay raise in 2017, another 2.5% raise the next year and 2.7% in 2019. the rest of the contract is the same. for the second time this week a sinkhole sprung open on a san francisco street. traffic cones now block part of the intersection of polk and post streets. the hole caused a mess for morning commuters. that's about a mile west of where crews were patching up another sinkhole yesterday. that one popped up on tuesday on new montgomery and mission streets in the financial district. an uber car was briefly trapped during the ordeal. following campaign 2016, a meeting with donald trump drew protests in washington today. the gop front-runner as he arrived in washington, d.c. a few hours ago trump and speaker of the house paul ryan met. weijia jang reports the meeting appears to be the first olive branch between the two leaders on opposite side of the aisle. >> reporter: donald trump offered a wave before heading into the republican national committee building. the party's presumptive nominee sat down with house speaker paul ryan and rnc chairman reince priebus. afterward ryan and trump issued a joint statement saying this was our first meeting but it was a very positive step toward unification. >> i was very encouraged with what i heard from donald trump today. i do believe, um, that -- that we are now planting the seeds to get ourselves unified. yesterday in massachusetts, a suspect was on his knees with 10 officers with guns drawn. then the beating began. police say that the violence was warranted because the man wasn't complying. the new hampshire attorney general is launching an investigation into this incident. and george zimmerman aquestioned in the 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old trayvon martin may be thinking about selling his gun. he was supposed to put it up for sale in an online auction starting today. but minutes before the auction was set to start, the listing was removed from the website. he was reportedly planning to use the proceeds to fight violence against law enforcement. a major step at the vatican today. the pope says he is open to the idea of having women serve as deacons in the catholic church. pope francis says he is willing to have female deacons. but not priests. chaos in the streets of.

supervisor malia cohen along with medical and religious leaders announced a november ballot measure. they hope a tax on sugary drinks will help consumers make smarter choices especially among children who are at risk for sugar-related health problems. >> in san francisco latino ninth graders have the second highest rate of consumption of sugary drinks among ninth graders and highest rate of becoming overweight. >> this is the second time lawmakers have proposed this kind of law. later today supervisors will submit 18,000 signatures qualifying it for the ballot. you may have noticed a lot of cyclists on the roads today and hopefully were you one of them. that's -- hopefully you were one of them. there's because it's "bike to work" day. sam liccardo braked at a red light to chat with fellow bikers before riding down a busy bike lane. >> yeah, we got a lot of folks who are fired up about cycling in our community and for good reason. there's obvious health benefits, greenhouse gas

the white asparagus can be tough. not the purple. selection and storage is very important. when you buy it you wanted to make sure purple from top to bottom. very important. squeeze it. when it's squeezey that means it's fresh. when you bring it home in the refrigerator right away. but don't store it for too long two or three days at the most. i like to enjoy it, i don't cook it too much. i just shave the bottom right here, so it's like green and white and then three-quarters of the purple. then what i do is i either grill it or boil it, not too long, two or three minutes and that's it and the color is beautiful all the way through. if you grill it, just put it in a cookie sheet with a little bit of foil, olive oil, salt and pepper under the broiler and that's it. you'll love it. i'm tony tantillo, your fresh grocer. and always remember to eat fresh and stay healthy. remember squeeze it. when it's squeezey, it's fresh. it might seem like a great idea to get your grandmother an ipad but who is going to teach her how it use it? this week's jefferson award winner hated the thought of

that same pace of technology, it kind of inspired me to teach her. >> i want to go to my folders. >> reporter: starting with the basics. like how to turn the computer on. then email. now facebook! >> you can still use it. >> reporter: stuti recruited classmates as volunteer teachers for "teach seniors technology" and began their free classes here at the almaden branch of the san jose library. now the no cost instruction has expanded to a dozen south bay libraries, senior and community centers. there are more than 50 volunteers from 14 high schools and two middle schools. and chapters have formed in india, china, singapore and, soon, australia. >> i never thought it would grow this much. >> reporter: connie has been coming for six months after feeling a little left out at her craft class. >> the ladies would come and they would say, oh, i found this craft on pinterest. i found this craft on etsy. and, um, i just would set there and think, oh, i wish i could do that.
