relatives of pearl pinson we out this weekend, searching any signs of the missing teenag. refusing to give up hope relatives of pearl pinson were out this weekend searching for any signs of the missing teenager. good evening, i'm brian hackney. >> i'm juliette goodrich. 15-year-old pearl pinson was last seen wednesday morning bloodied and screaming for help during a kidnapping in vallejo. kpix 5's mark kelly on what the teenager's family is doing in hopes of finding her alive reporter: today the family searched in three different parts of vallejo, the san rafael bridge, a creek and the overpass where she was last seen alive. >> when you still walk up there, you can feel what happened. you can feel like there was a

struggle. >> reporter: the pinson family decided this overpass where the suspect was believed to have assaulted and abducted 15-year- old pearl is exactly where they needed to search today. >> what we're really hoping is to try and maybe find some hope, some clue, anything that might have been overpassed just by chance. >> reporter: it was this vallejo overpass where a witness reported to law enforcement seeing a man wednesday morning with a gun pulling a female who was bleeding and yelling for help. that suspect, 19-year-old fernando castro, was later shot and killed by law enforcement in southern california. with pearl, nowhere in sight, the family's only choice is to trust the multiple sheriff's departments searching the state. >> they have not let us down yet. >> reporter: and keep pearl's picture as well as the place she was last seen alive in the public's mind. >> walk past there and realize, she was here. and now she's not here.

>> reporter: in vallejo, mark kelly, kpix 5. >> pinson's family says they will keep searching every day until they find her. a burglar keeps hitting small businesses in san francisco. he struck more than a dozen times in the same area. as kpix 5's da lin reports, police are trying to figure out who he is. >> reporter: a burglar breaks into a restaurant through the back door and goes straight for cash register. with a flashlight and crowbar in hand, he rifles through drawers looking for cash. >> when he operates in there, pretty smooth. pretty quick. he knows what he's doing. he's fast. >> reporter: san francisco police believe he is a serial burglar, connected to at least 13 recent burglaries in the richmond district. mostly targeting restaurants and stores on clement, geary and balboa streets. police are alerting businesses in the area. >> when businesses are closed, not very populated, he is just through the side yards, through

the back, not very much people around. >> reporter: this burglary happened two months ago. more recently he is suspected of breaking into a chinese meat and deli store. the owner didn't want to go on camera but same m.o. someone broke through the back door late at night and went for the cash register. it's got neighboring business owners worried they are next. >> i work late nights on the weekends. i don't want to be the one person that finds this guy coming in the back door either. >> reporter: back to the serial burglar, once he sees the camera pointing right at him, he covers it and breaks it. police say he appears to be a white man in his 40s, 175 to 200 pounds, with a string backpack with a dragon design. they believe he was on a bicycle. it's clear footage. police hope someone will recognize this burglar. they need help identifying him so they can arrest him. in the richmond district, i'm da lin, kpix 5. >> police think the suspect may be linked to burglaries in neighboring districts. they have a few surveillance videos of him in action as you saw. and they say that he started the string of burglaries at the

beginning of the year. the body of a girl found under a house in san francisco will soon get a final resting place. earlier this month, workers doing some remodeling in the richmond district hit a coffin with their shovels. inside was the body of a girl about 3 years old. she apparently had been buried back in the 19th century and now, organizers from across california have stepped forward to pay for the burial plot, headstone and new casket. a service is planned for next saturday in colma. violence on the campaign trail. we are learning that san diego police arrested 35 protestors yesterday outside of donald trump's rally. [ yelling ] >> police had to use force to control some of the protestors who tried to jump over a barricade at the convention center. the protests involved about 1,000 people. no injuries were reported. later trump said to the san diego police department, fantastic job on handling the thugs who tried to disrupt our very peaceful and well attended

rally. greatly appreciated. next week the city of cleveland will present its security plan for the republican national convention. the top priority is getting police prepped. the city says the division of police is working every day to plan. it has reached out to hundreds of outside agencies for additional staffing. some have already signed on. 50,000 people will attend the convention in july. bernie sanders is in california and had harsh words for donald trump and democratic rival hillary clinton. in santa barbara this morning, he criticized them both for their fundraising. >> our lesson, our message, is that billionaires and wall street and drug companies will not buy elections! we are going to overturn citizens united. >> sanders tried to out critics in his own party who he says were attacking him on behalf of hillary clinton but he was shut down when he tried to have them removed from party committees. bernie sanders will be in oakland on monday. he had two events planned first

at 2:00 at the allen temple baptist church with actor danny glover and a rally frank ogawa plaza. the warriors preparing for another must-win game in less than an hour. they will play thunder in game 6 at oklahoma city. if they lose the season is over but if they win a deciding game 7 will be monday at oracle arena. thousands of warriors fans are expected to pack oracle arena for a watch party. a bit later in sports, vern glenn will show us the warriors getting ready for the game. this note somewhat related, parts of the east bay bart track repairs are happening throughout the weekend no service between san leandro and bay fair on monday. they are offering a bus bridge. if the warriors make it to game 7 service between bay fair and san leandro will be restored by 3:00 on monday. ahead an update on recovery efforts following a deadly plane crash in the hudson

promotional flight for a local museum. two other planes in the demonstration landed safely. on this memorial day weekend, hundreds of kids in san francisco today paid tribute to thousands of fallen u.s. soldiers at the presidio national cemetery. boy scouts, girl scouts, cub scouts, all placed american flags on the headstones. more than 25,000 veterans are buried there. organizers say the annual event is an important one for the scouts. >> number one, we need to remember the veterans that served this country. that's number one. an number two, it's part of the requirement to practice good citizenship for all the scouts. >> on monday a special tribute will take place at the cemetery including a 21-gun salute. thousands of people are in napa valley today for day 2 of the bottlerock festival. ♪[ music ] >> the food, music, wine in this festival is in its fourth year. there's a culinary stage where celebrity chefs are performing

as medics arrived and most of the injured people are now all right and under observation. in germany 35 people were hurt when lightning struck at a children's soccer game. parts of the u.s. are dealing with dangerous weather. cbs reporter wendy gillette shows us the communities dealing with devastating floods. >> reporter: the rain cleared saturday in harris county, texas, near houston but the damage is done. vehicles sat submerged after water turned roads into streamings. the floods stranded some like this man, a truck brought him through the water to a rescue boat which delivered him to the other side where he was reunited with a woman. it was one of dozens of water rescues the past couple of days since the heavy rains started thursday. this family also needed help after they became trapped. >> scared for my house but we're good. >> reporter: in central kansas, search teams are still looking for an 11-year-old boy swept away friday night. >> we'll be out here all day and as long as it takes until

we find him. >> reporter: the surf is already roaring in charleston county, south carolina, where tropical storm warnings are in effect as bonnie moves in. the rough conditions were not enough to keep some away, determined to celebrate their holiday weekend. but riptide occurrence off an island in georgia generated by the storm proved too dangerous. lifeguard ran into the water to bring swimmers closer to the shore and safety. wendy gillette for cbs news. tropical storm bonnie is predicted to hit the south carolina coast tomorrow morning. we have our own rather explosive weather in california to deal with. but to find it you have to head east all the way out to the sierra and there they have some thunder bumpers at the moment. kpix 5 hi-def doppler is picking up those electrical storms out there. so if you know anybody headed to gold country or east of groveland, beautiful groveland over the crest of the sierra on 120, there's some thunderstorms out there spreading pretty much around mona lake another beautiful spot in california. 90 degrees right now in

concord. we had a warm one. san francisco at 70. livermore 84. 86 in santa rosa with clear skies most of the bay area. coastline cool, so we'll have a 30-degree temperature spread from the coast to inland. not unusual for the bay area as you know. but high pressure building in, stays warm through midweek with some minor variations. tomorrow won't be quite as warm as today. then monday we'll bounce back and temperatures stay warm monday, tuesday wednesday. so nice warm week ahead. futurecast shows stratus trying to form. a little disat the san mateo county coastline. that's about it. we'll go clear for much of sunday with a few patches of low clouds forming but that will cool us down. so let's sum it up. sunny and warm tomorrow not quite as warm. memorial day the numbers will come up and then cooler weather finally returns to the bay area but we'll have to wait until thursday for that to work its way in. still nice weekend.
