the state's primary tuesday will all but ensure her the democratic nomination. she spoke to the congregation of oakland, making mention of what's happening in the nba finals. >> the golden state warriors are doing pretty well. >> reporter: clinton says there are some lessons to be learned. >> you get a game plan. everybody knows their part. people work together. they set the goals. we know some people have different talents than other people but we also know that we do better when we're all using everybody's talents. >> clinton also spoke on a personal note, saying she and her husband, president bill clinton, really got to know one another as she worked as a young lawyer in oakland in 1979. >> i have a lot of really wonderful memories of where we started. right here. right here. >> reporter: as for bernie sanders, he spent the day

campaigning in los angeles and san diego. >> if the voter turnout is high, we will win california and we stand a chance to win it with a big margin. >> reporter: back in oakland, clinton said it was time for america to come together on issues ranging from gun violence, healthcare, and education. >> a house divided against itself cannot stand. >> california will be joined by new jersey with primaries tuesday. clinton is so close to clinching the nomination that she could declare victory based on the results in new jersey even before the polls here in california close. reporting in the newsroom, mark sayre, kpix 5. former president bill clinton will make several campaign stops in the bay area tomorrow including san francisco, hayward, oakland, antioch, and richmond. bernie sanders will hold a concert at christy field tomorrow evening. a pair of powerful republicans are slamming donald trump's recent attack on a latino judge. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and bob corker said they disagree with mr. trump's

view. he argues that the judge should not preside over a lawsuit against trump university because the judge's mexican heritage coupled with trump's immigration policies could lead to a bias decision. he discussed the dispute on face the nation. >> my question is if it were a muslim judge, would you also feel like they wouldn't be able to treat you fairly because of that policy? >> it's possible. yes. it would be possible. absolutely. >> isn't there a tradition in america that we don't judge people where their parents came from? >> i'm talking about common sense. >> another prominent republican newt gingrich said today that donald trump's comments are, quote, inexcusable. the warriors game now underway. they're taking on the cleveland cavaliers in game 2 of the championship finals. the games are certainly the hottest tickets in town right now. at last check before the game, nose bleed tickets were going for $430 on stubhub. but fans say they're willing to pay up to watch their team take

the championship for a second year in a row. >> you never know who's going to step up to the plate. they're just incredible. it's something amazing to witness. >> how do you think they're going to do tonight? >> they're going to take it all. >> the warriors beat cleveland in game 1 and hopefully they'll beat them all again tonight. the shark tank will be rocking tomorrow for game 4 of the stanley cup finals. it follows the sharks' big win in overtime last night against the pittsburgh penguins. the sharks will try to even up the series at two wins a piece. that's tomorrow. very limited number of game tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. in the morning. they'll only be sold at the s.a.p. center ticket office. you'll need a pre-numbered wristband to make a purchase. those bands will be handed out from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. there was a bus netting a big stash of stolen red bull and putting five people in jail. friday night police stopped a u-haul van on interstate 80. inside was about $4700 worth of

the energy drink. police say the suspect husband rolled a cart of red bull out of a safeway in vacaville. they're accused of shoplifting other grocery stores in northern california in the same way. four men and a teenaged boy all from oakland are under arrest and on top of burglary, the man who was behind the wheel is suspected of violating probation and driving on a suspended license. tributes continue to pour in to remember muhammad ali. the legendary boxer died on friday. kenneth craig spoke with some of the mourners visiting ali's childhood home in louisville, kentucky. >> reporter: long before muhammad ali became the greatest, he could only dream of greatness, growing up inside this pink house in louisville, kentucky. the home was restored and opened as a museum days before his death friday. ali's childhood friend sonny fishback greeted visitors and shared stories about growing up with the champ. >> we wouldn't believe him when we were kids as he told the same

story he told muhammad ali. no difference. same guy. >> what were those stories? >> i'm going to be world champion of the world. >> reporter: at ali's family church, people celebrated his life and mourned his loss. ali's brother broke down in tears. >> loving and kind person. loved all people. would help anybody if he could. he's a wonderful man. >> ali's funeral on friday will be open to the public at a downtown louisville arena. thousands are expected and the service will be streamed around the world. ali was great in the ring and around the microphone. >> i can drown a drink of water and kill a dead tree. wait till you see muhammad ali. >> reporter: george forman, who lost to ali in one of the most famous fights ever, says that combination made him the greatest. >> he belonged to the arts because he had poetry. he had it all. >> reporter: kenneth craig, cbs news, louisville, kentucky. an alert for students at

control in monterey county is threatening more than 100 homes. this broke out at 2:30 yesterday afternoon near king city. so far it's burned 3,000 acres and people are being evacuated from neighborhoods. firefighters from alameda, hayward, and fremont are helping crews and an evacuation center has been set up in the city. some of the evacuations have been lifted as crews continue to battle a brush fire in calabasas. it's burned 3500 acre. 75% contained at this hour. the fire broke out after a car hit a power line. there's still a risk the fire can move again. an evacuation order is still in effect in the topanga area. >> we believe there's still risk because we have uncontained flanks of the fire due to the top ography and where the fire is hung up on. that's our number one priority, get the two flanks contained. >> three homes had minor damage.

officer verd and killed by a a man is facing murder charges in the death of a memphis police officer. officer smith was struck and killed by a car last night as he was responding to a pair of shootings. today authorities arrested 21-year-old justin welch. it all started after three people were shot in back-to-back shootings. police say welsh took off in a car and struck smith. a water system is in trouble following a train derailment. on friday more than a dozen train cars, some carrying oil, derailed and caught fire about 70 miles from portland. now the local waste water treatment plant and sewer system are not working. the mayor says the town's water

reserves were wiped out to cool down the trains. the area around the crash remains evacuated. nobody was hurt. they don't know why the train derailed to begin with. thousands of people marched along market street for the annual seek freedom parade. john ramos explains why san francisco has become a rallying point for sikhs fighting for religious freedom. >> reporter: parades are usually held to celebrate some kind of victory. this was to commemorate a profound loss. >> it's very important for us. >> reporter: thousands of bay area sikhs marched up san francisco's market street to remind the world of the brutal attack on their community by the government of india. in june of 1984, indian troops laid siege to the golden temple. the sikh religion's holiest shrine. the temple was left in ruins.

>> it was an attack on the whole religion and genocide. it was a genocide against the sikh religion. >> reporter: the attack caused sikhs to demand separation from india. they'd like the northern state of punjab to become a place where freedom of religion would be respected. >> do you think this will end up in the independence of your nation? >> of course, because as i said, hope is the biggest drive for any goal to reach. >> reporter: they'll also need pressure from the rest of the world to help make that happen. for the third year in a row, san francisco has become a rallying point for sikhs seeking religious freedom. >> every year the number is increasing and we hope one day in the coming years this will become to the united states. >> reporter: india often refers

to itself as the nation's largest democracy but that will be put to the test because sikhs are calling for people to vote to become its own nation. a move many here see as their declaration of independence. in san francisco, john ramos, kpix 5. >> organizers say more than 10,000 sikhs from around the country joined in the march. it ended at civic center plaza with a rally and speeches. new life could be coming to what's been an eyesore in downtown hayward. there's a demand to tear down the abandoned mervyns. not everybody is happy about what's going to replace it. >> reporter: it's the northern gateway to downtown hayward. the sign remains but the former mervyns headquarters has been vacant for eight years after filing for bankruptcy. >> it has many people maybe not have a great view on hayward.

>> reporter: he wants to transform the 11-acre campus in to two six-story buildings, high in retail on the ground floor and market grade apartments upstairs, a total of 476 apartments. the project is called lincoln landing. >> some of the benefits of that sort of development is our property values would go up. the amount of traffic it's going to produce is going to kill us. >> reporter: benjamin gullar lives right behind the proposed development. he worries 476 apartments would bring a lot more people and a lot of cars. >> my new daughter, she's 18 months old. if i'm going to raise her here when i walk outside and i've got a freeway running by, it's very unsafe. >> reporter: some neighbors say the buildings would be too high. >> we are concerned about the size. bigger than almost anything in hayward. >> reporter: others believe this project will revitalize downtown hayward. more people means more money. >> we can't have it all. we as long-time resident here can't complain about the empty storefronts unless we also give

a concession to allow more residents to live here. >> reporter: allen has a house in the neighborhood. he says there are tradeoffs living near downtown. >> any downtown that's worthwhile, there's going to be traffic issues. >> reporter: the developer hopes to get city approval this fall and start construction next year. but some neighbors plan to take it to court to stop the project. in hayward, i'm da lin, kpix 5. we have something surprising to show you. actually you can consider it shocking on the kpix 5 hi-def doppler. this you'll note to be kind of a pun as we go up to northeastern california. low pressure over the bay area is pinwheeling thunderstorms over susanville. i wonder if anybody watching has ever been to the rather remote susanville. i have. it's kind of fun. as we look at completely different place now, ocean beach and low clouds that are filling in along the shoreline. 94 degrees in concord.

oakland's got 69. livermore, 92. 78 in santa rosa. away from the shoreline, warm and close to the coastline it's going to continue to be cool as low pressure kicks in over northern california. pretty good onshore push will maintain night and early morning low clouds for the shoreline. and you can see on the futurecast that it will be a mostly sunny day tomorrow but it's the old ebb and flow of the clouds along the shoreline will come inland overnight. pretty good fog with that as well. this is what we're expecting this week. doesn't look like any major changes. in general there will be a cooling trend but it's going to take a while to influence the east bay. we'll be back in to the low 80s but not till thursday and friday. numbers slowly take a step in that direction between now and the end of the week. you want hot, how about riding 106 degrees. 103 at fresno. 94 for sacramento. and 68 degrees and partly cloudy skies with the low clouds at

monterey. here's how it looks overnight in the bay area tonight. clouds coming back in along with fog. not a surprise near the shore. sun up tomorrow morning about 10 minutes before 6:00 or so. overnight lows will be in the mid 50s. for tomorrow we'll take a notch or two off today's high temperature. san francisco, 67 degrees. close to average. concord well above average. 90 degrees for tomorrow. san jose, 83. oakland, 71. down in the south bay tomorrow, numbers will be in the low to mid 80s yet again. and over in the east bay the numbers will range from the 70s around the shoreline to the low 90s inland and the 80s right around the 680 corridor. up in the north bay, 75 in petaluma. 82 for nonoto. 83 for santa rosa. for ukiah and lakeport and clear lake, low 90s again. going to take a while to get out of that territory. near 90 degrees inland. tuesday, 87. slowly those highs subside back in to the low 80s by the latter

>> reporter: the team blew the doors off. ian mclaughlin was a big part of the drumming. >> it feels like a dream. >> reporter: mclaughlin's dreams were once nightmares not long ago. >> first time in my life i was pretty disgusted with who i was and ruining relationships, family, friends, people that love me. >> reporter: he battled drug and alcohol addiction in high school. and he was kicked off his team twice, choosing finally to enter a rehab center in southern california to get his life back on track. his scholarship at st. mary's was gone. >> pretty unbelievable. the first 30 days you're in a house with about 15 dudes, have the guys don't want to be there and are continuing to get high. but that's why i feel like i am where i am because i wanted to change. i wanted to stop. >> to me it's one of the best stories in college baseball if not in the country. >> reporter: mclaughlin pulled
