she said. heavy rain and severe weather flooding is threatening much of the florida coast. tropical storm colin is set to hit the cost with winds around 50 miles per hour. roberta gonzalez has more. >> reporter: this is adding injury to insult because of the area of low pressure whipping around to the south. take a look at the u.s. satellite-radar. and you can see the ginormous storm, the center is over canada and whipping around new york and washington and the tail end in miami. but as we zip in, you can see the tropical storm. it's name is colin, and it will be producing copious amounts of rainfall. the governor has declared a state of emergency for half the counties in florida today through tomorrow, 5-6" of rain expected and several tornadoes expected as well. numerous i should say and we'll keep a watchful eye on tropical storm colin and a look at your

calabasas that threatened 3000 homes is 80% contained. firefighters took advantage of cooler temperatures to hold the blaze back. >> the fire came within a couple hundred feet of the house. we grabbed our bunny rabbit and vacated. >> residents were able to return home in calabasas, but evacuation orders remain in nearby areas. and we have been talking about fire season. it's upon us in california. >> and i was watching the calabasas fire all saturday evening and one thing that shocked me is how close the trees and landscape was to the homes. just remember that you have to have the space between your landscape and residency, or you go up very quickly in flames. i think we jump up and down and tell people that every year but it's a nice reminder. fire season is 24/7, 12 months a year now. san jose has cleared out nicely

with winds at 6 miles per hour and the air temperature at 75. santa rosa is picking up winds and so is hayward. this is the weather watcher program with everyone reporting temperatures in the 60s and 70s and 90 degrees for brentwood. a deep marine layer continues to linger at the beach. the drizzle has pretty much dried out, and we do have clouds that continue to hang tight for the coast and we'll see the june gloom all week long and temperatures coming down. here at 6:00 tonight, the san mateo coast shrouded in the low clouds and fog and tonight overnight, it will be a deeper marine layer than this morning at 2000 feet deep, marching inland and surging towards the dealt a overcast conditions at livermore and drizzle associated with the deck of clouds as l we will see spotty sunshine along the coast tomorrow, and this area of low pressure enhancing the marine

layer is kicking inland allowing the high pressure to build in. and keep in mind that the water company at the coast is 66. when you have the cooler air mass atop the cooler waters and bend that up with the warm and down right hot conditions in the areas, you get the fog, so it will be lingering. 95 at the state's capitol and 76 in the high sierra, and temperatures shy of triple digits in fresno. we have tropical storm collin, an area of low pressure kicked out due to the tropical storm that continues to move towards the miami area. we do have evacuations around tampa bay, and we are expecting flooding to occur tonight through tomorrow in florida where the governor has called a state of emergency. we have 60ed and 70s around the bay. we are out of the 90s to 83 in

everyone was affected. >> they were just traumatized. >> it's trauma, ongoing. for many students, they don't care about school. they don't see a point. >> reporter: perfect there is a lot of domestic violence in her extended family. >> growing up with domestic violence, you feel like you are expected to fail. >> reporter: cynthia is so unusual because she got into a college prep tutoring program and a leader at school. >> she is involved in so many things. she is getting great grades in super hard classes. >> reporter: here she is at a crowd before 600, so tiny, she is hard to see. >> but wait. there's more. >> she has a lot of energy. >> she is a bundle of kinetic energy that suffer like in --
