this is the legend of muhammad ali. most popular fighter there ever will be. >> and today a celebration of life as the greatest is laid to rest. >> rumble! ho! good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. good to be with you, i'm anne-marie green. muhammad ali will be buried today in his hometown of louisville, kentucky. first, a final good-bye including a funeral procession and an interfaith memorial service. yesterday thousands attended a muslim funeral for the three-time heavyweight champ. don champion is in louisville. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. by the thousands, people will pause today to remember louisville's native son. the service will end a week-long celebration of the life of a man who not only had an impact on the city but also this world. today's public memorial service for muhammad ali will be fit for

a champion. actor will smith and former heavyweight boxing champ lennox lewis are among eight pallbearers. >> i'm honored. he will always be remembered and never be forgotten. >> reporter: thousands attended a traditional islamic prayer service for ali yesterday where his family was seen for the first time since his death. the service drew celebrities and fans alike. >> he exemplified all the true virtues of this life, the togetherness, the community. >> reporter: today's interfaith event will draw dignitaries like mormon senator orrin hatch and king of jordan, comedian billy crystal and former president bill clinton will help eulogize the champ. >> you couldn't designed, is this guy a boxer or a ballerina. the way he moved. the speed, the grace. >> reporter: before the service, a hearse will carry his body 19 miles through louisville past places he held close to his heart.

"i do not know your name, but your words are forever seared on my soul. words that should be required reading for men and women of all ages. words i wish with all my heart you never had to write." israel sent hundreds of troops into the west bank in response to wednesday's deadly terrorist attack in tel aviv. two gunmen killed four people at a popular shopping area. they came from the same west bank village. travel restrictions have been placed on tens of thousands of palestinians. and security is tight in france for the start of euro 2016. the month-long soccer championship that kicks off today. france has mobilized 90,000 police and security guards to protect hundreds of thousands of fans and the 24 teams taking part.

three people died when a small plane crashed in houston. the single-engine plane was trying to land following a flight from norman, oklahoma. it crashed on its second landing attempt, plowing into a car in a parking lot. all three victims were on the ground. the national transportation safety board is investigating. and the world health organization says women living in areas affected by the virus should delay getting pregnant. zika is linked to birth defects. the guidelines were issued last week but were updated to distinguish between those visiting or living in a zika zone. coming up on the "cbs morning news," immigration status. a high school valedictorian faces a social media backlash after she reveals she's undocumented. and a very special guest slow jams the news. it's been an honor and privilege to serve as your president --
