live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix 5 news. >> a new bombshell rocking bay area law enforcement. the woman at the center of it tells kpix five she got undercover information directly from officers. kpix's been following the story for weeks and spoke to the woman involved. >> police gave her protection in exchange for sex. she tells us. >> reporter: the acquisition is now more than just sex and statutory rape involving police officers. now there's evidence 22 officers giving a teenage prostitute undercover intel. this 18-year-old teenager admits she slept with about 30 officers from various police departments. she tells me she's had sex with 14 oakland police officers,

five richmond cops, three from san francisco pd, one in stockton, one in livermore, four alameda county and three contra costa county sheriff's deputies. in exchange, some officers gave her protection and tipped her off about undercover operations while she was working as a prostitute. she gave me this cell phone screenshot showing her text conversation with an oakland cop who goes by the nickname superman. superman wrote, be safe today. want some advice? celeste replied, tell me, and some. the cop said, stay off it 14 from fruitvale to 42nd tonight. there's a uc operation. meaning undercover prostitution sting. celeste wrote back, damn, lol, and the officer said, no, you're not. just giving you a heads up. she flirted by saying, thank you, daddy. i appreciate it. i don't want to go to jail. lol. in another conversation with a different officer, we're blurting out his name and picture, since kpix five has not been able to confirm it

came from his own, celeste asked the officer, is it going to be hot in oakland tonight, meaning well there be any undercover operations targeting prostitutes? the officer wrote, yes. who told you? celeste replied, nobody. that's why i'm mad. the officer says i told you last night or tried to but you were drunk. >> i was happy -- these men in uniform -- you know, giving me protection and you know, it was mutual. >> reporter: out of the 30 or so officers, she says she slept with three of them when she was a minor, all three with the oakland police department, starting when she was just 16. some of the officers would introduce her to other fellow officers, basically passing her around, mostly via facebook and instagram. she gave me a text conversation with another oakland officer where we are also blurring of the name and a picture celeste texted him. the picture shows her having

sex with someone else. the officer asked, you enjoy that? or was that an old pick? celeste said that was like a month ago. it was cool. i'm sure he would be better. the officer wrote back, i know i could. i'm not going to lie. kind of hot seeing you having sex. how often you be having sex with officers? celeste said the sex happened when the officers were off-duty and sometimes in hotel rooms. some of the officers were married. she is now cooperating with investigators. so far the oakland and richmond police department have launched internal investigations. >> back at it, i thought they care about me. looking back at it, i do see myself as being a victim. because i feel like i was taken advantage of. >> reporter: i asked celeste if she plans to sue the police department. she says she hasn't made up her mind. she doesn't want to because both her mother and her stepfather are dispatchers and work with these officers. in oakland, i'm da lin, kpix 5. regarding the scandal, oakland mayor libby schaaf issued a statement a short time

ago saying, quote, we continue to be disgusted and outraged by the idea that anyone could abuse and underage victim of sexual expedition particularly those who have sworn to uphold the law and protect our community's. our highest priority is to hold those responsible for wrongdoing fully accountable and remove them from positions where they are offending the public trust. anything that impedes these outcomes is counterproductive and compromises justice. meanwhile, police tell us they are now infested getting several officers after learning about their connection with celeste. the alameda county sheriff's department says it plans on thoroughly investigating any wrongdoing and stockton police tell us they know of no investigations into any of their officers. in south san francisco, a mangled mess, two people were killed in this suspected drunk driving crash. tonight friends are mourning their loss. kpix 5's jackie ward is live with what we're learning about the victims and the driver

under arrest. jackie? >> reporter: brian, a memorial is set up for the two people who were killed. you can see friends have gathered at the tree where the crash ended. they say the two killed in the accident when the driver -- were the brother and the brother's girlfriend. >> i don't even feel safe crossing the street. >> reporter: this man has owned a hotel for decades. he says a lot of drivers speed up and down this road but this is the worst accident he can remember happening here. >> i heard a big bang. i came out. and i saw one person probably got ejected from the car and it was in that lane. >> reporter: 19-year-old joshua maldonado was drunk when he collided with a mustache at the intersection of pine and airport boulevard. his honda then hit a tree, rolled over and collided with the second tree, ejecting his two passengers and splitting the car in half. the two people in the most were not injured. friends say the passengers were 21-year-old gabe maldonado, josh was older brother, and his

18-year-old girlfriend. josh was -- joshua was treated for injuries then released and taken to san mateo county jail. joshua is now facing a felony dui charge, two counts of the regular and two counts of second-degree murder. in south san francisco, jackie ward, kpix 5. by want the judge in the stanford rape case removed from the bench. they are taking their fight to tomorrow's graduation ceremony. judge aaron persky handed down a six-month sentence to former swimmer brock turner who was convicted of sexual assault. protesters say it was too lenient. they gathered more than a million signatures calling for persky's removal and they say they want the stanford community to speak out against turner's sentence. >> she was absolutely neutral during the trial. we just don't agree with the sentence. >> reporter: they say they plan to make a spectacle at tomorrow's graduation ceremony. a man is under arrest after

deputies say he accidentally fired a loaded gun at the college campus where he works. officers say 32-year-old david reese was cleaning his gun at solano community college when it discharged. reese was shot in the hand and that prompted a school lockdown. he's now charged with bringing a firearm to campus and carrying a loaded unregistered gun. police are investigating a deadly shooting in east palo alto just after 10:00 pm last night along illinois street. officers arrived on scene and found a 30-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. he died a short time later. police are still looking for the suspect. a football player is in the hospital with serious injuries after a major swimming pool accident the day before he was due to graduate. kpix 5's cate cauguiran talked to his family now open for any signs of recovery. >> he was the star football player, such a smart kid. 4.0 gpa. captain of the -- football team.

>> reporter: jake javier would have been celebrating just graduated high school but instead, he is here at john muir medical center. >> he is getting some sensation today in his arms. which is positive. >> reporter: a day before his graduation, jake badly injured himself at a friends pool, breaking his neck. >> he is selfless. caring. such a sweet kid. it's hard to imagine that. that this has happened. >> reporter: jake's aunt told me at his would be graduation ceremony yesterday jake's best friend accepted his diploma holding up jake's football jersey as he crossed the stage. >> we call them our gentle giant. 6'4", 200 something pounds. but he is the most giving, sweetest, kindest kid that you would ever meet. >> reporter: jake was supposed to play football at cal poly in

the fall, but it's unlikely he will walk again. >> we haven't lost hope. we always hear of those stories of people saying, dr. saying you're never going to walk and then you do. so that's our attitude. >> reporter: his family holding out for the best, overcome with massive support from san ramon valley high and the denver community. jake is expected to be in the icu for the next few weeks. his family tells me the focus right now is not on any permanent damage, but hope for the future. in walnut creek, cate cauguiran, kpix 5. >> the family tells kpix 5 the football coaches have reached out to jake with best wishes for his complete recovery. puppies still -- it's back home with her family tonight. investigators think she may have been sold on the street. officers say two men snatched mayock, the german shepherd, from her owner while they were out for a walk. a friend of the person who bought her turned her into officers. the dog owner says he knew the suspect wanted to sell her.

>> i don't want -- i think now -- parks or something -- i won't walk or run anymore. >> police are looking for the suspects. him and drove off in a newer model silver or gray four-door mercedes benz. another bay area headline now, oakland firefighters pulled off a tricky water rescue a few hours ago. crews had to smashed the window of this submerged suv in order to pull the driver to safety. they say the man accidentally drove over an embankment and into the ravine. crews have stopped a gas leak in danville. a construction crew hit a gas line as they were digging at el capitan drive and oneida circle. eight to 12 homes were affected but no evacuations. san jose is celebrating the grand opening of the new valley health center downtown. it will provide urgent care services that were lost after the controversial closure of the san jose medical center in

campaigns and pennsylvania. he took shots at president obama for packing hillary clinton. trump called her crooked. and the president, incompetent. trump also defended himself and took shots at mitt romney who accused him of trickle-down racism. >> he choked like a dog. now it's time for somebody else. >> hillary clinton will campaign in cleveland on monday. trump heads to north carolina on tuesday. headed to santa cruz, you might want to think twice before cutting through los gatos. the city is closing the highway 17 on-ramp for several weekends. kpix 5's mark rivera reports, people who live in the area are just fed up with traffic. >> reporter: looking at highway 17 southbound you would think it is the middle of the weekday rush hour hour. on some weekends like this one, the traffic towards santa cruz and the beach is actually far worse than what regular commuters face. so drivers try to cut over and

drive through los gatos to save time and that's got residents fuming. >> basically if you live downtown, you are a prisoner in your own home. you can't back out of your driveway because it's gridlock on the block. if you do go anywhere, even only a couple miles, you might take an hour getting home. so you walk. >> reporter: to combat the cut through problem, the town painted these big green logos on the middle of santa cruz avenue trying to get drivers to detour back onto highway 17 before driving all the way but a downtown. but that didn't seem to make a difference. now the town council has approved a pilot program to close the on-ramp to southbound highway 17 from south santa cruz avenue for three weeks and -- in a row. including the long fourth of july weekend. residents told the town council, it's about time. >> what i'm really concerned about, is the hostility. between resident's and cars, drivers, et cetera. >> reporter: residents say this problem has existed for a long

time. but there's no question it has become worse after mobile driving directions apps such as ways and google maps, came into the picture. >> unfortunately these traffic apps apps, if you can save one minute, they will take you on some crazy route which really is impacting the lives of the people that live here. >> reporter: the city says it plans to notify the mapping companies of these plant closures so drivers are not directed toward the on-ramp during the weekends in question. reporting los gatos, mark sayre, kpix 5. today yosemite started testing a new system to help ease the parking nightmare for visitors. at least for 150 of them. you can reserve one of 150 day use parking spots near the lodge. after you part you can then explore the different areas like anybody else using free transit. minors hope this will get some of the -- planners hope they get more visitors on the trail. a 9-year-old swimmer from los banos is trying to make history in the san francisco bay. he plans to become the youngest person ever to swim to alcatraz
