down 559 points. >> ther tina kraus on the outcome -- reporter tina kraus on the outcome that forced british prime minister david cameron to resign. >> reporter: "brexit" reporters celebrated when word came down that great britain was leaving the 28-nation european union. >> the sun has risen on an independent united kingdom! >> reporter: the vote was a massive defeat for prime minister david cameron who announced he would leave office in october. >> i do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination. >> reporter: the british pound was down to a 30-year low and stock markets around the world plummeted. voters to backed leaving the eu say they will have more control other trade, immigration and other economic issues. >> there is no need in the 21st century to be part of a federal system of government based in brussels that is imitated nowhere else in the world.

>> reporter: president obama said the united states respects the voter's decision and our partnership with britain will endure. leaders across europe are expressing concern the french president calling it a painful choice. the eu is losing western europe's top military power with nuclear weapons and the world's fifth largest economy. analysts say it could take at least a few years for the separation to be finalized. tina kraus, cbs news, london. >> and let's chat with kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. jason, tell us about the impact here in the u.s. >> reporter: michelle, if there's one thing hates it's uncertainty and there's a lot of it with the "brexit." first impact u.s. banks getting hammered as many of the big banks such as goldman sachs and others have significant presence in the uk. london is a major financial center. if those banks want to continue using special financial passport privileges in the eu, they will have to move a lot of

those employees and offices into eu cities to keep those privileges. that's going to be costly. banks don't have very big profit margins right now. >> all right. jason brooks from kcbs radio, thank you. president obama is on the stanford campus today reacting to the news out. uk and kpix 5's keit do is live at the entrepreneurship summit mr. obama addressed the vote. >> reporter: he did talk about "brexit" very briefly at the beginning of his remarks. we'll get to that in just a bit. but the crowd just got out. mr. obama spoke since 11 a.m. for an hour solid. he was on stage moderating a panel with mark zuckerberg this morning. he says that the summit is close to his heart and that it's his last one as a sitting president. he says they have been able to help and support 17,000 entrepreneurs around the world in the past 7 years. mr. obama announced several new partnerships with big name mentors as well as $100 million fund to invest in worldwide startups. he was here to talk about innovation, dreaming bringing and entrepreneurship but he did

start the talk with "brexit." he said he spoke with former prime minister david cameron and is confident the exit from the eu will be orderly and also said nato will stay united. >> but while the uk's relationship with the eu will change, one thing that will not change is the special relationship that exists between our two nations. that will endure. the eu will remain one of our indispensable partners. i believe in you. and america believes in you. and we believe that you have the talent and the skills and ambition not just to pursue your dreams but to realize them that you can lift up not just your own families but communities and countries and create opportunity and prosperity and hope for decades to come. that's the promise that we see in all of you. >> reporter: as for the summit itself, it's held in a different part of the world every year and this time it's drawn more than 1,000 entrepreneurs from 170 countries to the birthplace of modern innovation sillicon valley. mr. obama called for more

diversity since only a fraction of venture backed startups are run by women or minorities. president obama encouraged them to collaborate with the u. [ non-english name ] is working on an education startup. he says hearing the president's remarks gives him confidence. >> found a lot of people their ideas and my ideas so i think, um, u.s. is a good place to start with in business and having corporation or partnerships. >> reporter: does it make you feel welcome when he said that? >> very much. yes. yes. i feel like a friend. we feel very welcome. and we love this country. so thank you very much for having us. >> reporter: yeah. and next year the summit goes to india and for now president obama's headed to seattle for more fundraising. live at stanford university, kiet do, kpix 5.

barriers, fences and porta- potties for all day celebrations tomorrow and sunday. but yeah, as you mentioned, this year's "pride" celebration takes a different tone after orlando less than two weeks ago. >> i think the message is resilience, that even in the face of that tragedy, we are going to go on and we are going to be strong. >> reporter: san francisco's "gay pride" celebrations could draw as many as a million visitors and unprecedented security measures including about 25% more officers on the streets some undercover monitoring the crowds. people attending pride festival celebrations at civic center plaza will have to go through security screening, bags larger than 18 by 18 inches won't be allowed. >> this weekend is just a reinforcement for us to come together as a community and be proud and be strong and show that we are in solidarity with each other. >> reporter: dolores park is getting ready to host the start of the weekend festivities where the transgender march kicks off at 6 p.m.

reporter danielle nottingham on the san gabriel complex fire that's now burned 7 square miles. >> reporter: flames devoured dozens of homes and other buildings around the town of lake isabela. >> i have never been in a wildland fire where i have seen so many homes burned. >> reporter: a fire captain reportedded the devastation live on facebook. >> never get to see something like that. >> reporter: it started thursday afternoon with temperatures in the announce and single digit humidity quickly growing to 8,000 acres. adding to the danger, many houses have propane tanks. >> that's another tank taking off there. >> reporter: in just a matter of hours, the fire climbed three ridges into communities considered to be at a safe distance. >> come this way until it hit over the hill and went so fast. >> reporter: several thousand people were ordered to evacuate. >> it was like driving into the apocalypse. just driving into hell. >> reporter: fire devoured this home and there's still 1500

homes in the path of the fire. crews say saving them will take everything they have. hundreds of firefighters are working the fire from the ground. at least 3 were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. helicopters air tankers and retardant dropping aircraft are fighting the blaze from above and they are not getting any help from mother nature. forecasters say the hot, dry weather will stick around through the weekend. danielle nottingham, cbs news, lake isabela, california. >> more than 1,000 firefighters are fighting the san gabriel complex fire. flood victims in west virginia were allowed to return home today. nine inches of rain in just 16 hours caused flash flooding that killed at least 14 people including an 8-year-old boy. ruptured gas lines caused some homes to burst into flames. homes, roads and power lines washed away during the storm. the governor declared a state of emergency. and a large oil spill is being cleaned up in a ventura county canyon. a pipeline rupture dumped

30,000 gallons of crude oil. the spill is contained to land and not leaks into the ocean. this is the 11th spill for crimson since 2006. the cause is under investigation. good news for fans of george lucas. his museum might come here after all, just where it belongs. the museum's board of directors making the announcement this morning saying extensive delays in chicago and clashes with friends of the park, that's a group there, prompted the change. treasure island is a new possible site for the museum. and a golden state warriors fan is now revealing how he got into game 7 of the nba finals in oakland without a ticket. university of texas student micah pogue is a photoshop expert. that's all you have to be. he created a counterfeit police pass complete with photo, fake numbers and bar code. didn't matter. he posed as a staff member of the bleacher report, security personnel did not question him. >> i note that they recognized that it wasn't intend -- i hope
