only at a sleep number store. iv e from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix 5 news. >> now at 11:00 p.m. a bloody clash, several people stand after a rally turned violent. good evening. i am juliette goodrich. >> 10 people wounded. kpix 5's joe vazquez has the story. >> reporter: this is a white supremacist group called the traditionalist worker party, begins their rally on the steps of the capital. chaos. a larger crowd of counter demonstrators moved in. some threw rocks. chased them off the steps. what happens next looks like a battle field. many wearing masks, begin to clash with white supremacist.

one man blind sided a woman, smacking her in the head with a stick. people from both sides of the clash were beaten and stabbed right here on the grounds of the capital. one tells me it was the white supremacist who started it. >> we were talking about peace and love. didn't want violence and looks like they went after two black guys. they attacked him. next thing i know one of the black guys is bleeding. he had something in his hands. >> sacramento tv news crew got close to the action. counter demonstrators got violent with them. a bay area group called bam, was part of the group. >> the nazis tried to come out on the steps and they were driven out and were scurrying

back into the building. >> reporter: police say they made no arrests. despite the many surveillance cameras, many were wearing masks so it will be difficult to identify them. joe vazquez, kpix 5. >> two of the victims have life- threatening injuries. san francisco was bursting with pride today. the pride parade wound boun market street this morning. hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets downtown and waved flags in support of the lgbt community. it was a bit different than in year's past. there was a sombow tone in the wake of the -- somber tone in the wake of the orlando shootings. >> we need love one another and take care of each other. >> san francisco's pride celebration is one of the biggest in the world.

>> security remained a high priority, especially at a public party. kpix 5's betty yu shows us the scene. >> reporter: they came dressed to dance and show their pride. wearing rainbows in almost every form. >> phenomenal. my favorite day of the year. >> reporter: he has been letting loose at pride fest for 26 years. but for the first time he and thousands had to go through security lines to get in. staff used wands and did background checks and officers were at every corner. >> rough getting in but it was only 20 minutes. i went to four different spots trying to find an easier way and then i gave up. worth the wait. >> reporter: how long did you wait? >> over an hour. >> it was awful. i went through where there was less security. they were checking for if you

didn't have a purse. >> reporter: memories of orlando was fresh on many minds. >> i would rather them check and make sure thered? something that will harm -- that isn't something that will harm people. >> the san francisco police department had 25% more officers in plain clothes and uniform working compared to last year. >> things happening like orlando, it is understandable they would up security. >> we still partied and had a great time. >> reporter: officers say that things have been calm during this year's fest tithes. they made 5 -- festivities. they made 5 misdemeanor arrests and 5 felony arrests. betty yu, kpix 5. >> new york city pride parade

began with a moment of silence for the victims of the orlando mass shooting. hillary clinton walked with the governor and new york city mayor. the governor announced today a monument will be built to honor the victims of the orlando shooting. >> when we heard about orlando it touched each and every one of us because it went to the core of who we are and what we believe. and it was everyone's neighbor, everyone's brother, everyone's sister. >> the governor pledged a million dollars to the project. in chicago the pride parade also honored the orlando victims. marchers held up photos of each person killed. othersspelled out pulse in balloons. in the bay area twice in two days a oakland police crash

ended in a fiery crash. one police car t-boned another while they were chasing a suspect. that is what is left of the cars. you can see the car burning there. we didn't know how badly injured the officers were. this happened last night on 580 in oakland. the officer was chasing a suspect when the officer slammed his suv into a pole. the suv burst into flames. the officer was able to get out unhurt. other police officers caught up to the suspect and arrested him. mixed signals today following britain's decision to leave it european union last week -- leave the european union last week. it tumbled by 12 points. hong kong's index dropped 1%. the shanghai was up .86%.

japan up by 2%. while the brexit continues to cause volatility in the market, kpix 5's john shows us it is wreaking havoc in britain. >> reporter: he dodged questions about the political house of cards crumbling around him in the after math to remain members are packing up and leaving. many resigned this weekend. his secretary was fired. >> i told him last night that i no longer had confidence in his leadership. >> reporter: there is little confidence the prime minister will be able to steady the ship. there are calls for him to exit sooner. with so much uncertainty comes economic volatility. >> they don't like uncertainty.

we have that in bucket loads. >> reporter: stability won't come easy and certainly not fast enough. millions of u.k. residents, including some who voted to exit signed a petition for a new vote. the secretary of state john kerry will meet with u.k. and european union leaders tomorrow to ensure the u.s.' continued support for both sides. the list of unknowns seems to grow. scotland suggested trying to veto the brexit. he would rather live with the european union should it u.k. move forward. cbs news. back home a lot of fires around the state. no surprise starting tomorrow all burn permits will be suspended in the area. the fire season ramps up. all outdoor burning will be banned. few exceptions for camp fires

at campground or private aproperty. firefighters are making -- private property. firefighters are making progress at a wildfire near bakersfield. it killed two people and destroyed over 100 homes. chris martinez reports from south lake where blocks have been devastated. >> reporter: surveying the damage for the first time. >> i was ready to see it all gone. when you drive up and you see everything is -- is -- nothing is there. >> reporter: south lake was hit hard by the erskine fire. flames washed out blocks of homes in lake isabella. crews are working to restore damaged power lines as signs in the area praise firefighters for their efforts. 1700 of them are battling the blaze that devoured 36,000

acres. forcing massive evacuations. officials continue to tally up the damage and so far they found 200 structures and homes were destroyed. at a community meeting saturday night firefighters say despite making progress they are not ready to allow residents to return home. >> we still have a very ugly fire out there in extremely dry fuel and a lot of fuel, with the winds, it could get off and running and blow back around. >> the efcephthe largest -- erskine fire is the largest fire burning in california. and there is an elevated fire risk throughout the week. bay area firefighters are lending a hand down south. multiple districts send fire crews. coming up, a popular short cut to santa cruz is shut down to drivers. the plan to prevent beach traffic and a terrifying scene

cruz. >> grid lock that shut down the entire town. >> reporter: so many searching for a short cut through los gatos they brought traffic to a stand still. >> people are just passing through on the way to santa cruz. the weekends have become one big traffic jam. >> reporter: leaders grew concern it was making it difficult for residents and shoppers to navigate the downtown area. so they decided to close the street in front of the freeway on ramp, hoping it will force beach goers to steer clear of the area. >> everybody is in a hurry. they are going to try every way this can. >> reporter: she is guilty of using apps to save her time. >> if i lived in this town i would support that. you know? we all want to make our towns

hillary clinton is trying to distract from her bad adjustment call on breaks -- judgment call on brexit. hillary clinton is ahead in four key swing states, 5 points in wisconsin, 3 points in florida, 2 points in north carolina and colorado. in all these states hillary clinton is more prepared to become president. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell address' donald trump's dip in the polls. >> no question he made a number of mistakes over the last few weeks. they are beginning to right the ship. the burden will be on him to convince people he can handle this job. >> reporter: he says both hillary clinton and donald trump need to attract independent voters. the poll finds independents don't think any better of the republican and democratic

parties for having selected their nominees. both presidential candidates have work to do. >> reporter: the poll found voters feel donald trump will bring changing to washington and do better with the economy. cbs news, washington. more heavy rain storms are expected in west virginia as people try to clean up after the deadly flooding. more than two dozen people lost their lives in the floods. the high water started to recede yesterday but more rain is expected tomorrow. west virginiaens say this is the worse startser they have -- disaster they have seen . >> this is always somebody else till it is you. you know? just -- this -- this could be anybody but today it is me. today it is my town. >> officials say some people may never go back home.

after the roller coaster th were on *derailed at a thee park in scotland. police say 5 cars detached the dozen people are recovering after the rollercoaster they were on derailed in scotland. five cars detached and -- detached and collided with the main structure before hitting the ground. people were trapped upside down. two adults and 8 children are being treated. still ahead, one man's act life. how he helped a family get a new home. that is next.

chance meeting outside a gry store. to a man a teen and his mother will get a new home after a chance meeting outside a grocery store. he walked up to a man offering to carry groceries in exchange for donuts. the man was touched and took him shopping. the boy is a straight a student who was doing odd jobs to pay the rent and didn't even have a bed. he set up a a go fund me page.
