trump's economic judgment, the billionaire hired an adviser that once worked for one of his rivals. >> reporter: donald trump heads to pennsylvania to deliver a major speech on trade and the economy. the address titled american economic independence is his first on u.s. soil since his visit to scotland last week. during the trip trump praised brits for the historic decision to leave the eu. >> they wanted to not go with decisions being made for them. >> i'm with her! >> reporter: joining forces with senator elizabeth warren in ohio yesterday. the duo took turns blasting trump's economic judgment. >> he tried to turn a global economic challenge into an infomercial. >> what kind of man roots for people to lose their jobs, to lose their homes? a small insecure money grubber who fights for no one but himself.

>> reporter: an nbc news/"wall street journal" poll out monday shows 52% of democratic voters are satisfied with clinton as their presumptive nominee. only 45% of republican voters say their happy with trump. in a bid to beef up his campaign staff for the general election, yesterday, trump hired a former top aide to ted cruz to be a senior communications adviser. and according to a news release that republican operative is jason miller who will oversee the campaign's interactions with the media. now before joining the trump campaign, miller sent a series of scathing tweets about his new boss, even called him sleazy. he's deleted those tweets but the blog think progress managed to recover them. >> hena daniels, thank you very much. it's reported that trump may be softening his position on banning muslims from this country. "the wall street journal" and others report that trump is backpedaling on his call to ban all muslims from entering the u.s.

it was last december that trump made one of his most controversial proposals. >> donald j. trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the united states until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on. >> trump's policy director told the journal yesterday that the best way to prevent radicalization from developing inside america is to temporarily suspend region a major source of terrorists. prime minister david cameron headed to brussels today to meet with european leaders for the first time since the united kingdom voted to opt out. british leaders on both sides of the debate say they want the uk to remain in the eu's free trade zone. but both the economic and political future of britain remains murky at best. mark phillips reports. >> reporter: it may be years before britain actually leaves

the eu, but already, nothing's the same, starting with the money. the continuing fall of the pound, and the tailspin on the stock market means britain is already poorer. the warnings of an economic downturn are becoming fact. the leaders of the winning leave the eu campaign like boris johnson had dismissed those warnings. he was now dismissing the reality. >> it is clear now the project here is over. >> reporter: it's been replaced by another project, the embittered referendum losers say. >> projects here has turned to project farce. >> reporter: wih its economic future on the line, britain must now decide when to press the eject button to trigger the start of exit negotiations and it's in no hurry. >> i don't take back what i said about the risks. it is going to be difficult. >> reporter: david cameron told parliament he was still quitting and nothing would happen until his successor is chosen in the next few months. in the current state of limbo, british businesses is hedging

its bets. a survey of 1,000 companies revealed that many are freezing investments and one in five are planning to move outside of uk. simon walker. is head of the institute that pooled its members. has britain voted for a recession? >> i think there will be a recession. how long it lasts no one can be sure. >> reporter: and now a chastened david cameron has to go to brussels to meet the other eu leaders. it's a two-day meeting to discuss the response to brexit. cameron has been uninvited for the second day. mark phillips, cbs news, london. the supreme court decision strike down texas abortion restrictions may well have a nationwide impact. but it's unclear that the texas abortion clinics that closed since 2015 will be replaced. paula reid has more. >> reporter: supporters of abortion rights celebrated outside the supreme court following the justices'

decision. the court voted down the texas 2014 law saying it posed an undue burden to women. >> today, the supreme court sold out women. >> reporter: the law required abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. it also required clinics to have the same standards as outpatient surgery centers. >> it also lays the groundwork perhaps for some clinics that have closed because of admitting privileging requirements to reopen their doors. >> reporter: this is the court's first vote on abortion in nearly 25 years. the vote was 5 to 3 with justice kennedy siding with the liberal bloc. >> it underscores the reproductive freedom of women across the country. >> reporter: texas governor called the ruling devastating. >> for the life of me i can't imagine the women on the court or the men on the court who said we think somehow or another if you want an abortion, you deserve less standards than if

you were getting treated for a broken leg. >> reporter: texas lawmakers say they will pore over the decision and revisit the decision the way they will approve. paula reid, cbs news, the supreme court. there are no report can of injuries following a large explosion at a natural gas plant in mississippi. the amoco bp plant is located in pascagoula east of biloxi. police say there were employees there at the time, everyone is safe and it's unclear what caused the blast. well, more rain is possible in best virginia where recovery from devastating floodwaters is going slowly. last week floods are being blamed for nearly two dozen deaths. one resident said he saw a woman being swept away in the car. >> i saw her clawing at the window. it hit the bridge and i never saw her after that. >> some of the worst destruction was in the town of rainelle wherever building was flooded. in the state, thousands of homes were lost and thousands of

others were damaged. and there was also heavy rain and flash flooding in texas. the dallas-ft. worth area saw widespread downpours. that triggered running water that prompted one resident to grab an intertube an float down the street. firefighters in california are making progress fighting nearly 20 wildfires burning in that state. the hot weather and dry conditions have been fanning the flames. the fire in current county blamed for two deaths has burned over 45,000 acres. it is 45% contained, though. ash 200 homes have been destroyed. cadaver dogs are being used to search for more victims. the cause remains a mystery. it's been reported that condition of legendary tennessee women's basketball coach pat summitt has worsened. summitt's pastor told a knoxville radio station her death is imminent. summitt suffers from early onset dementia, alzheimer's-type. family and friends are gathering in knoxville. her family says the past few days have been difficult. summitt won eight national

championships and more games than any other female basketball coach. the flight data recorder from the egyptair passenger jet that crashed in the mediterranean is repaired. the two flight recorders were damaged after they slammed into the sea from paris to cairo last month. there was no distress call and no claim of responsibility. 66 people died in that crash. well, coming up on the "morning news," an ikea recall, a popular dresser is blamed in the deaths of three children. >> and a whale off the coast. this is the "cbs morning news." don't you dare. i don't think so! earth. well, a look at this morning's headlines on the morning newsstand. "the new york times" reports the impact of a supreme court ruling that overturned a federal judge's bribery conviction. the justices said prosecutors have not proved that bob mcdonnell of virginia helped a businessman just because he took gifts from him. critics say the ruling makes it harder to pursue corruption cases against public officials. philly.com reports that ikea will stop selling unstable dressers blamed in the death of three toddlers. the recall involves 39,000 dressers. regulators say they tip over too easily. the company says the furniture should be removed from rooms that are accessible to children. "the denver post" reports that the red cross is taking down some posters critics called racist. safety posters displayed at two municipal pools showed some white children obeying rules and most of the black children breaking them. the red cross apologized.

british airways is offering cheap airfares to lure people to london. and chipotle serves up rewards program. jill wagner is on the new york stock exchange with more. treasury secretary jack lew says he sees no signs of a financial crisis in this country following a british vote to leave the eu. but following the vote u.s. stocks lost about 5.3% of their collective value in just two days. the dow lost another 260 points. the s&p dropped 36. the nasdaq fell 113 points. perhaps some good news, anne-marie, looking at the big board, futures are playing to a bit of a higher open, at least right now. british airways is trying to make the most of the brexit vote which sent the pound tumbling against the dollar. in a tweet, british air said it's time to take advantage of the brex change rate. the pound hasn't been this low against the dollar since 1985. starting in december, b.a. is offering round trip tickets to

new york city's stonewall inn became a national monument yesterday. as don dahler reports it's the place where the modern-day gay rights movement took root. >> reporter: in 1960s america it was illegal to be homosexual. police raids on gay bars were common. but on the night of june 28th, 1969, gay residents of greenwich village decided they had enough. and they took a stand at the stonewall inn fighting back against police. the violence led to days of protests ultimately igniting the gay rights movement. it took 47 years but the historical importance of what happened in this tiny manhattan neighborhood has finally received federal recognition. >> i'm now going to take you on a little journey back in time. >> reporter: 68-year-old tommy
