and donald trump is waking up to a new scandal this morning. today for his high praise for saddam hussein. what he says the former iraq dictator did so good. >> he did that so good. a u.s. navy officer is under investigation this morning, after this video surfaces, showing him pointing a gun at two teens. >> [ bleep ]. >> no, you can't. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. this morning, an investigation is under way into a deadly police shooting in baton rouge, louisiana. a police officer shot and killed the suspect following a confrontation early tuesday morning. this video allegely showing the incident early tuesday was

posted online. police say two officers respond to do a complaint from a caller about a man selling cds. an altercation between the officers and 37-year-old suspect alton sterling. there was a scuffle and one officer pulled his gun. sterling died at the scene. a preliminary autopsy indicates he died of multiple gunshot wound to the chest and back. >> he didn't deserve to be shot like that. period. at all. >> reporter: sterling's sister wants answers. she says her brother has been selling cds outside the store for years. >> i really want to know more about what happened, about the whole situation, because my brother didn't deserve it. he didn't deserve it at all, not one bit. >> reporter: protesters gathered at the scene beginning late

yesterday and the crowd grew through the night. police say the investigation will look at all angles. >> we are going to review the video and we are going to review the audio. we have witnesses, nonbiased witnesses here and we are going to bring them down to our station and interview them. >> reporter: both officers have been placed on administrative leave. most protesters are expected today and the baton rouge police say they will be holding a press conference later this morning. extremely careless. that is how fbi director james comey describe hillary clinton's handling of e-mails on her private server. the fbi did not recommend charges for clinton, but comey issued a stinging criticism of clinton's actions and late last night, house republicans indicated they would call comey to testify about the decision not to press charges. hena daniels is here in new york. >> reporter: good morning. director comey says there were e-mails on clinton's server that contained classified information that could have easily been hacked. now her likely opponent donald trump is saying the system is rigged and clinton got away

with, quote, murder. >> we have a rigged system, folks. >> reporter: campaigning in north carolina yesterday, donald trump refused to move past hillary clinton's e-mail scandal. despite the fbi's skidecision n to recommend charges depends her. >> she is laughing at the stupidity of our system. she is laughing and so is her husband bill. >> reporter: trump continued his attacks on twitter, saying the, quote, rigged system allowed clinton to get away with murder. while the fbi could not support bringing charges, fbi director james comey did criticize clinton and her aides for being extremely careless. >> every reasonable person in secretary clinton's person should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation. >> reporter: the fbi announcement came hours before clinton campaigned alongside president obama for the first time. clinton trashed trump's fitness to be president. >> can you imagine him sitting

>> sdavaddam hussein was a bad . you know what he did well? he killed terrorists. he did that so good. they didn't read them the rights. they didn't talk. it was over. >> reporter: the clinton campaign issued this statement following trump's comments. trump's cavalier compliments for brutal dictators and the twisted lessons he seems to have learned from their history, again demonstrates how dangerous he would be as commander in chief and how unworthy he is of the office he seeks. 13 years ago, british troops entered iraq to join the u.s. forces. during the conflict, 179 british soldiers were killed and some 4,500 americans. the report was commissioned in 2009. it heard evidence from more than 150 witnesses and analyzed 150,000 documents. critics of the u.s.-led invasion

and making noise outside of his house in a washington suburb. they taunt him, while one of them records the incident. the woman talking on the phone is apparently his wife. >> get in the car! >> let go! >> be thankful you have a gun. >> reporter: his name is car neg onasi. recipient of two military service awards. >> i'm on my property. >> reporter: we don't know if the gun is loaded but he is threatening to use it. >> no, you can't. >> reporter: shortly after the incident last month, the mother of the young man in the cap filed a complaint. onasi was briefly taken into custody but no charges have been filed against him. the investigation remains open. the navy learned of the incident when shown the video by cbs news. they said it's working to understand the full details of

"the tennesseean" reports the settlement of a lawsut involving alleged sexual assaults by students athletes. the university of tennessee-knoxville will pay eight women nearly $2.5 million. they claim the university did little to prevent or punish the assault.

"the kansas city star" reports a federal court ruling in favor of planned parenthood. the judge said the state may not cut medicaid funding. it blocked the move of governor sam brownback. an opponent of abortion. "the chicago tribune" reports a man who burned a flag will not be charged. he was arrested on the fourth of july for posting a picture of his protest on facebook. prosecutors say burning a flag is protected speech. the "atlanta journal-constitution" reports a ruling in favor of ku klux klan by georgia's supreme court. the judge says the klan's bid to join the state's adopt a highway program may go to trial. the white supremacists were turned down by the georgia transportation department. still to come. good news for netflix bingers. comcast strikes a deal that will make it easier to stream your shows.

the multistate game is in its longest streak without a winner. 34 rolls over a span of nearly four months. on the cbs "moneywatch." jill wagner is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, jill. >> good morning. follow-up from the brexit vote. the british pound fell to its lowet point in three decades in the british financial markets remain unsettled. the pound dropped along with shares of british real estate companies amid concerns that the exit from the eu will hurt property values. three uk financial firms stopped trading in commercial properties because so many investors were trying to sell their holding. worries about the british financial system sent stocks in this country felling lower. the s&p lost 14 and nasdaq finished down 39 points. the duel between comcast and netflix. comcast and netflix to top boxes. netflix says other deals to pay tv providers. the first time netflix will be

distributed directly by comcast network. the two companies at odds over various issues. the federal trade commission is investigating the infidelity website ashley madison and the investigation comes nearly one year after a massive security breach that resulted in the leak of customer data. the exact nature of the investigation is not known but an independent report found the firm has used computer programs to impersonate women and attract subscribers. men subscribers. the blackberry classic was introduced two years ago with a touch screen and longer battery life. they will have two smartphones by early next year. apple is adding a software update to its health app to encourage organ donations. it lets people sign up for the national organ registry. the apple comes installed in every iphone.
