been planning larger attacks... now at 5:00, disturbing new details about the dallas gunman. why they believe he may have been planning larger attacks. good evening. i'm juliette goodrich. >> i'm brian hackney. police say johnson's journal showed he'd been planning an attack for some time. they think it's the reason that pushed the former army reservist to act. johnson was killed after police used an explosive robot to end a two-hour standoff. joe vazquez is live in dallas where an emotional sunday service remembered the five officers killed and the two black men killed by police last

week. >> as the folks here in dallas are paying their respects to the fallen officers, they like the rest of america are trying to get their heads around the broader issues about police and community relations and earlier today we heard voices from all sides of the issue at a town hall meeting. >> reporter: at a dallas mega church called the potters house, they came together to pray, to shed a few tears, to talk about the trauma of the assassination of police officers. and others who died this week at the hands of the cops. >> i had to go to work thursday night in to friday and it was the first time i saw my wife cry when i left to go to work. my kids are like dad, are you really going to work? i have to. this is my profession. i took an oath to serve and protect you all. >> my daughter is an angel. she's definitely more stronger than i am. >> reporter: diamond reynolds

called in and she was as calm as she was on the facebook live video she posted after her boyfriend was shot by an officer, until she was asked what she would have done differently that day. >> if i could change anything from that night, it was never to take that route. because if we wouldn't have never been in the wrong place at the wrong time. none of this would have happened. >> words matter. i was only mad twice. i was mad at the shooter. because the pain. and i was mad when i heard a politician call the protesters cowards and hypocrites. >> yes, sir. >> now that's demonizing a group that a politician disagrees with. you don't demonize people. you say hey, i think you got it wrong here. but god loves you. and i'm going to lift you up. >> organizers hope this is just the beginning, that there will be many such conversations

taking place as everyone seems to agree these conversations are needed. report live from dallas, joe vazquez, kpix 5. meanwhile, tensions are running high in minnesota after a violent police protest last night. police said about 100 people were arrested after protesters in st. paul began throwing fireworks, bottles, and rocks at officers. more than 20 of them were hurt. they're expected to be okay. police used teargas to try to disperse the crowd. earlier protesters marched from the governor's mansion on to interstate 94 stopping traffic in both directions. people can gather in different areas in baton rouge for a fifth day of protests following alton sterling. more than 100 protesters there have been arrested this weekend, one of them black lives matter activist is free on bond after

being charged with obstructing a freeway. gunfire left bullet holes on a building and shell casings on the ground. officers in the building heard the shots late last night. officers canvassed the area. they found the shell casings in a nearby alley. they have a description of somebody who ran away. the san antonio police chief says it's not clear yet whether the building was targeted or somebody fired randomly. nobody was hurt. president obama is cutting his european trip short to visit dallas tuesday. he plans on speaking at an interfaith memorial service for the officers killed in thursday's attack. in a statement today he said targeting police will not evoke change. >> whenever those of us are concerned about fairness in the criminal justice system attack police officers, you are doing a

disservice to the cause. >> president obama went on to say that police and activists need to work together and listen to each other in order to mobilize real change in this country. in the wake of the police shootings and protests around the country, hundreds gathered in san francisco today to strengthen their community. maria medina shows us the event brought neighbors, friends, and strangers together. >> reporter: in the middle of the day, middle of the street, it transformed in to a place where the community gathered sunday to laugh, eat, and play. >> there's so much tragedy we've been experienced. >> reporter: janice is the co-founder of glide memorial church. the church partnered up with san francisco block party to extend the front of the street in front of glide. >> i think it's so important for people to come together as a community and that's the only

officers. harper released a statement saying i grieve for the nation. america is in crisis. still no sign tonight of a vallejo woman who police believe was ciz napped. four people are under arrest but investigators appear at a loss about exactly where the victim is. mark kelly reports from vallejo. >> the 57-year-old victim was last seen alive at this grocery store but that was 11 days ago. people here in vallejo are concerned she won't be found alive. >> that's not typical around here. >> reporter: the first sign alveera bab was in harm's way came the first of the month when her son, living in san francisco, got a text from an unknown number. it read your mother is being held for ransom and if authorities are contacted, alvira would be killed. kpix 5 learned the ransom was

less than $100,000. >> once he received the text, he tried to communicate with them and there was no further communication after the initial text. >> reporter: friday night, eight days after the threatening text, police arrested four people in connection with the disappearance. julon brown and larry young of sacramento. but still no sign of elvirea. >> none of the suspects are divulging her location and we were hoping someone would come forward that would be able to help us locate her. >> making this case even more challenging to crack, there's no sign of a forced entry at the apartment. but officers did find her dog dead. >> i'm very sad about it. it's very difficult for the people who live here that there was a kidnapping here. >> detectives said one of the suspects and the victim are acquaintance s. in vallejo, mark kelly, kpix 5.

a church community has finally reassembled the pieces of their sanctuary. two years after the napa earthquake, a church community has finally reassembled the pieces of their sanctuary. reporter john ramos was there for the celebration. >> reporter: the light shining in to this morning's service at the first presbyterian church in napa was a welcome change from that dark day in 2014 when the earthquake sent its stained glass windows crasing to the ground.

>> it was so sad to see the broken stained glass windows. >> reporter: the building was constructed in 1874. there were fears there could be structural damage that would doom the little church. >> it's a historical structure, one we value in pride. to see it damaged during the earthquake was scary. could it come back? could they fix it? >> reporter: that answer came today as the congregation joyfully celebrated the reopening of their sanctuary. they spent two years and $2 million meeting in the church gymnasium as the building was being prepared and fortified. as churchgoers discuss lessons learned from the quake, the only visible reminds reminder -- only

register lemon trees that already exist. they're partnering with demonstration gardens. they'll plant 50 trees in small drupz and recruit tenderloin locals to take care of them. high hopping low riders. it's a show of car contortionism rolling down mission street, part of the annual king of the streets low rider cruise parade. they're all making their way to the waterfront. if you missed them on the streets, you can catch these low riders for another hour at fort mason. the old tesla ceo is hinting he'll make a major announcement this week. it comes as tesla is under pressure. working on top secret tesla plaster plan part 2. hoping to publish later this

week. musk has used the internet before to make formal announcements. a blog post in 2006 unveiled cars that became the tesla 4-door and sports sedan. a navy investigation shows chris kyle over stated the number of awards he received. in his book, american sniper, he said he received two silver and five bronze stars. however a navy investigation found he was awarded one silver and four bronze stars. the navy is calling it a clerical mistake. his book was made in to a hollywood blockbuster. he was shot to death in 2013 by a troubled marine corps veteran he'd been mentoring. still ahead, a popular new app is creating trouble for its players. how robbers are using the app to lure victims. >> we're looking toward a little more sunshine and a little more heat. we're also looking toward san francisco from oakland.

victims. it's called "pokemon go!" the game l robbers are using a popular new app to lure in victims. it's called pokemon go. the game lets you catch pokemon using the phone's gps system. four people in missouri used the app to target victims in armed robberies. the suspects had been watching the game's map to see when potential victims would be caught alone. officers arrested all four suspects. as we're here on sunday

i guess we start with golf. >> we had a major championship right out of san jose. all adjacent to morgan hill all this week. as i said, a little while go, 72 holes just knotted up. a very strange playoff. world's number one player looking for a third major. she just got to stay out of the rough. double bogey 7 on the 9th hole.
