ette i was a child hit and killed in sonoma. the crash happened about 6:00 tonight. paramedics rushed to the scene and transported the child to the queen of the valley hospital but the child died. chp is trying to confirm reports that the victim fell out of a stroller. >> it is still under investigation. we have to follow-up with witnesses. we have some different state -- statements. >> chb has not released any information on the driver. a vigil at city hall tomorrow will remember the five police officers killed in

dallas. the president will be in dallas. he returned to the white house tonight so he could make the visit. he will travel to dallas on tuesday and is set to speak at eight interfaith memorial service. police are uncovering new details about the gunman. >> reporter: this memorial in front of police headquarters continues to grow all weekend long people have been bringing walloons and bouquets of flowers and cards. well-wishers for the fallen officers and their families. they are covering two police cars. the community is trying to understand this gunman who apparently led a conflicted life. a soldier who served his country . a radical who claimed to hate white people. a family man who took care of his artistic rather. -- brother. a madman who joked while slaughtering police officers with sniper fire.

>> he played games and was laughing at us. singing. >> reporter: after the army sent micah johnson home from the war and kicked him out of the service for sexual harassment he made a mixed impression. depending on who you ask he was a friendly or reclusive. he loved collecting weapons. some who knew him and 50 was not a violent man. investigators say they have evidence he had been planning an attack on the cops for quite some time. me while at a dallas mega-church called the potter's house the came together to pray to shed a few tears. to talk about the trauma of the assassination of police officers. and others who died this week at the hands of the cops. >> i had to go to work thursday night. it was the first time i saw my wife cry. my kids are saying are you going to work?

>> reporter: she was as calm as she was on the facebook video she posted after her boyfriend was shot by an officer. until she was asked what she would have done differently that day. >> if i could change anything from at night, it was never to take that route. because if we would not have been in the wrong place at the wrong time none of this would've happened. >> reporter: the dallas police chief revealed that during the siege the gunman was babbling incoherently at times and even wrote some sort of gibberish on the wall in his own blood. we are not just dealing with all the issues we have been talking about between police and the community but also there are some mental issues as well. >> as we learn more about the gunman we are understanding the attack in dallas could have been worse. >> reporter: the police chief

said in fact the gunman had been planning an attack for some time and he had practiced detonating explosives. the events of last week sped up his timeline and he went on without the bombs that he had been practicing with. a woman who was shot during the dallas attack is back at home after spending the last few nights in the hospital. she was with her son when the gunfire started. >> i felt the bullet. i don't know if it bounced off the ground or what. i felt it when it hit me in the back of my leg. my son had turned around to grab me. i guess he turned to see where i was. i had already been shot. >> she said she is thankful for the officers that were there that night. they managed to protect her and

her son before getting them to the hospital. people gathered for a prayer vigil in oakland. >> reporter: there was a heaviness and sadness that i could feel in the church tonight. many people took emotional refuge and worshipers came to mourn the loss of the five police officers that were killed in dallas and the two black men who died in police shootings. through song and prayer people came to oakland tonight to heal after back-to-back police shootings by killed alton sterling and for lando castille. >> fear and anger. every emotion you can think of. most do not understand how that

much hate income to that group of people because they don't like the way you look. >> reporter: that is what his listeners are feeling. himself included. the radio station hosted the vigil days after hundreds of protesters shut down 880 in both directions for hours. they marched in solidarity with anti-police brutality rallies. this man is proud to be part of that march. >> just like dr. king shut down freeways and a lot of bridges to bring attention and light to the serious things that need to be done. sometimes things are not dealt with or seen unless we as a people shake things up a little bit. >> reporter: the mayor and a councilwoman led tonight's program. one that focused on peace. >> i apologize to people that were inconvenienced by the freeway shut down. i very much understand the

feelings and the need for people to come together in that moment and express their pain and anger. >> reporter: the mayor said overall she believes the oakland police department and the community acted appropriately on thursday night. overall there were seven people arrested in the protests and there were minor cases of vandalism. in san jose about 60 people joined in a black lives matter demonstration while police officers looked on from rooftops here protesters said they are fed up with people of color being targeted by police in multiple cities around the nation. >> we are here to and this. my ancestors did not die for us to be out here protesting again. because one of my brothers was murdered brutally on television by the police. >> after the rally demonstrators tried to march to the station but the police

blocked their path. about the same time nearby other people concerned about the well-being of police officers held their own rally your local religious leaders were among the speakers calling for peace and unity. and minnesota police officers are recovering after a violent protest. about 100 people were arrested after protesters in st. paul began throwing fireworks bottles and rocks at officers. more than 20 were hard but they are expected to be okay. in louisiana tensions were high during a protest in baton rouge police arrested about 50 demonstrators and many held signs that read justice for all 10. the protest was in response to the death of alton sterling a black man killed by police officers last week. stay with us for the latest of the investigations into the shootings.

a scary scene for concertgoers after joe perry guitarist for aerospace collapsed on stage turkey was performing with his band when he lost consciousness. he was rushed to a brooklyn hospital. a tweet from his account was sent out saying he is now stable . no word on what caused the collapse. and east bay mayor concerned about freeway shootings complaints about a slower response on funding for cameras. says november they have been more than 20 shootings. today the mayor of herculean essentially said state officials are dragging their feet. he said he and several mayors got assurances last wednesday that a task force would quickly compile prices for buying high resolution cameras and license plate readers. he has not heard back. we along the identity of a woman who drowned during a rafting accident. police say it was elaine yi mau

of san francisco. the accident happened along the american river in unincorporated el dorado county. of they say group of people in inter-tubes went down rough rapids and when they got to the other side they realized someone was missing. rescue crews found the woman's body submerged in a section of heavy rapids. nissan of a vallejo woman who police believe was kidnapped four people are under arrest but investigators have not found the victim. >> reporter: the 57-year-old victim was last seen alive at this grocery store. that was 11 days ago. people in vallejo are concerned she will not be found alive. >> it is typical around here. >> reporter: the first sign that she was in harms way came the first of the month when her son living in san francisco got a text from an unknown number.

back in service. >> reporter: the light shining into this morning service at the first presbyterian church in napa was a welcome change from that dark day in 2014 when the earthquake sent stained- glass windows to the ground. >> it was sad to see the windows in the street. >> reporter: the building was constructed in 1874 and there were fears that behind the cracked and broken plaster could be structural damage that would doom the little church. >> it is a historical structure and when we value. to see a damaged during the earthquake was scary. >> reporter: that came today as the congregation joyfully celebrated the reopening of their sanctuary. they spent two years and $2 million meeting in the charged
