opened fire on a crowd in texas. tonight: as family member now at 11:00, a bay area woman shot and killed when a man opened fire on a crowd in texas. tonight as family members struggle with the sudden loss, police search for the shooter. >> betty yu is in our newsroom, speaking to the brother. >> that's right. they are in a state of shock, absolutely devastated. the san carlos woman was walking with her fiance in the sidewalk as the bars were closing when gunfire rang out. >> and she smiled. she was the life of the party. she could bring you right back up. she was out with her fiance

downtown austin early this morning when the party stopped. tamika was shot dead. four others were injured. they want to question a 24-year- old man. >> you never think that something like this would happen. she went to have fun and just to enjoy being young and vibrant. >> reporter: her older brother ricky said just last week the oke over the phone about riding motorcycles for the first time. >> we texted each other all the time. multiple times a week. she texted me out of the blue and said brother, i love you. i said i love you too. >> reporter: that was the day before she left for texas. the two grew up on the peninsula and she loved the outdoors. she drove a school bus. share add home in san carlos with her -- shared a home in

san carlos with her fiance and was looking forward to getting married in september. >> this is something we needed to deal with every single day. another killing, another killing, another killing. there's some point when it needs to stop. your heart goes out to the families, but you never think that it would touch so close to home. >> reporter: austin police are circulating a photo of a person of interest. they don't yet have a motive in this case. in the newsroom betty yu kpix 5. a man was found stabbed to death tonight not far from the the oakland zoo. someone attacked the man with a knife and then took off. the victim's name has not been released. in san francisco the coroner identified a man who died after falling off a cliff yesterday. his female friend had to be rescued from a cliff, but she was not hurt.

more than 5,000 firefighters are working to extinguish the flames. one person has died. thousands more homes are threatened. a lawnmower sparked a fast moving fire in san jose. maria medina with the battle to put out those flames. >> reporter: new cell phone video shows the attack from the air to put out a grass fire in san jose. >> and that is what really caused the spread of the fire. more than 120 acres with firefighters up against the challenge. >> and the wind and terrain work together. >> a property owner mowing grass sparked the quick moving fire. >> i don't know if it is a

rock, but just one spark ignited the mower. and although the fire is under control, the fire fight is not over. it will continue for the next couple of days to make sure hot spots don't reignite the flames. >> so what happens after the fire burns through? we'll have little embers that pop up because the winds start to blow to catch the embers, then the embers start to grow. >> reporter: in san jose maria medina kpix 5. firefighters say to mow your lawn in the morning with little wind and high humidity, lowering the chance for a fire. water service is now restored for berkeley residence after a string of water main breaks ruptured along the same area near gillman street. thousandsof gallons of water -- thousands of gallons of water caused the break.

a san jose family escaped a burning house today, but at least one of their pets a dog did not make it. the fire broke out on birch grove drive just after noon today. crews got it under control in less than an hour and brought out two of the family's four dogs, but a third dog did die. at one point during the search, the firefighters said that there was better news for the family. >> after we had been in there for a while, we found the third one. i think he was hiding under a piece of furniture in the closet somewhere, but yeah we were able to find him. >> the three people that live in the house made it safely, but they need a new place to stay. a debate is swirling. showing video of the takedown to a former bart police chief who said that the officer did

pokemon go players knowing to wonder where they don't belong, they are wandering onto the cemeteries now. where players could train their poke upon, but the problem is that they are not welcomed visitors on sacred grounds. >> the kids running around here, they are running through the sprinklers, on skate boards. it's just very disrespectful. i think that we were the most concerned about coming out here, defacing the monuments and the grave sites and that sort of thing. so it is personal for us out here at this cemetery. >> it is easier to understand. the cemetery decided to do something about it, reaching out to nintendo and they asked them to remove the location from the game. and already they are seeing fewer players. earlier this month, officials at arlington national cemetery asked guests to refrain from playing pokemon on the grounds.
