jose with an update and some advice for passengers. >> reporter: workers out here are saying to plan ahead. get here early and use your cell phone and go on the delta app or go online to see the status of your flight before heading to the airport. >> we show up ready to go and it's like, no. >> reporter: packed and ready for vacation, they weren't sure if the flight would leave the ground. >> i'm irritated a little bit. >> reporter: a power outage causing a computer glitch and grounding flights globally. >> i came in this morning and tried to do the curbside check- in. and the line wrapped around the building. surprising to start the morning off with but it is what it is. >> some flights were delayed on arriving and departing boards. all of the boards have not had correct information because of the glitch. still a better situation here

than at airports across the country dealing with stranded customers. >> 450 flights were canceled so far. san francisco international dealing with a number of delays and even more delayed flights could be added to the board as the airline works to get computer systems up to speed. and out here at sjc there's one canceled flight. it was supposed to head to salt lake city. if this sounds too familiar, it's because last month southwest was forced to cancel 2000 flights also because of a computer glitch. sandra osborne, kpix 5 news. >> and delta's ceo released a video apologizing for the delays and said that employees are working all hands on deck to bring service back to normal. >> i apologize for the challenges this has created with you. the delta team is working hard to restore and get these systems back as quickly as possible. >> delta says passengers

impacted by the glitch are eligible for a refund or may be able to change tickets without a fee. oakland firefighters respond to a car fire and find a homicide scene. the investigation is underway after two bodies were found in the car. police received a 911 call just before 2:00 this morning. when they arrived on the scene, they discovered a car engulfed in flames. inside car were two bodies. police found a third victim suffering from gunshot wounds outside the car. he was transported to the hospital. this happened in the 991 block of empire at gibraltar. one officer believes dozens of shots were fired. i spoke to a woman who was trying to get to her son at his grandmother's house. >> he says everybody is safe. i'm just concerned about the neighborhood. >> it's just disturbing. you don't expect to come here and find this.

it's very disturbing. >> once the sun came up. officers spread out throughout the neighborhood, knocking on doors and talking to people who might know something about the shooting. and checking to see if anyone has surveillance video. police are searching for a suspect and anyone with information should contact them. a former san mateo officer accused of assaulting five women returned to court today. noah winchester's bail has been set at $5.1 million. winchester pleaded not guilty last week. and he'll be back in court in november. the police chief of richmond says some of his officers violated policy. they are accused of having sex with a woman at the center of a scandal. the evidence will likely sustain multiple violations of

policies, noncriminal against several officers. the woman goes by the name celeste. all 19 people sickened at a party. they all ate laced gummy candy. they experienced heart palpitations, rashes, and shortness of breath. there were no labels or markings on the candy. twelve of the 19 people tested positive for thc, the active ingredient found in marijuana. in san jose, a strike involving court employees is in the second week. nobody is budging until they get a raise. the court workers have not seen a pay hike for eight years, and it's not right that workers make the same amount of money while rents keep rising. the court says that key

wer. the high-rise has sunk 16 inches and is now tilting. in may, an engineer warned that it is zinging at the rate of an inch per year and doesn't appear to be slowing down. the tilt at the building's base could worsen and there have been cracks and buckles in the sidewalks outside. the last of the steel trusses of the old bay bridge are coming down. they'll be lowered onto barges and taken to shore for dismantling. taken apart the 80-year-old eastern span is just about as difficult as building a new one. the work is expected to continue for two years. a 10-year-old killed on the world's largest water slide. the investigation into what went wrong. and progress being made against two wildfires in california and the damage already done. good afternoon from our kpix weather center in san francisco. what a view we have this

the world's tallest water slide. the incident happened a kansas water park is closed as investigators look into how a 10-year-old died. the kansas city slide faced multiple delays before opening in 2014. adjusts reportedly had to be made to the second hill after sandbag tests showed that the rafts were flying off the

slide. >> our rides are inspected by an outside party before the season starts. >> the boy was the son of a state representative. he was at the park as part of a special free admission day for lawmakers and their families. investigators may be closing in on what caused a hot air balloon crash. it's believed the pilot was trying to descend through a break in the clouds and didn't notice the power lines. the balloon caught fire and went down in a pasture and all 16 on board were killed making it the deadliest hot air balloon crash ever in the u.s. monsoon showers are wreaking havoc on parts of pakistan. several homes and crops were destroyed. and locals are complaining that the sewage system is not working properly. the downpours are expected to continue for the next couple of days. a wildfire in yolo county

is nearing containment. the cold fire has been burning east of the dam since tuesday. it is now 70% contained. only one structure was troyed by the fast -- destroyed by the fast moving flames. thompson valley road is still closed. in monterey county, some evacuation orders have been lifted as the wildfire continues to grow. cal fire announced that the soak raw face -- soberanes fire -- sparked by an illegal campfire. another shot at getting rid of mosquitoes carrying west nile virus. parts of south san jose will be sprayed tonight. repeatedly, mosquitoes were found with the virus. close your windows and stay inside toe minimize the exposure to all the spray.

just about quarter after noon and roberta gonzalez is tracking a rather monotonous forecast. >> i was going to show you the golden gate bridge. and that shot it begins to glitch. and you expect mo. as we look out to telegraph hill, nothing but blue skies there and not a cloud to speak of. we have wiped the slate clean. 78degrees in livermore, and santa rosa at the beginning of the morning, 48 degrees. it's in the high 60s in redwood city. satellite and radar suggests that the clouds are wiping away. and every one of our weather watchers reports lots of sunshine. winds have been picking up out

of the west at 10. but calm across the bay in the inland areas. we do have a 13-mile-per-hour wind in fairfield. these winds are bearable this afternoon. and will continue to increase. sunny and seasonal around theway. and more warm sunshine inland. when you see the clouds stacked up. that's pretty typical for this time of the year. we'll see the intrusion of the clouds trying to make their way tuesday morning before they retreat. we have the area of low pressure that's been enhancing the marine layer. but for the most part. we'll have a pretty benign weather pattern. 75 high sierra. and 98 in fresno. our temperatures 60s at the beaches. 80 santa clara valley. and east bay up to 92. 88 livermore. and these numbers are slightly warmer than yesterday.

90s in ukiah. and by the time the sun comes back up. look at this. it's a repeat performance. it's a carbon copy. it's summertime in the bay area. new at noon. united airlines wants to bring travelers from the big apple and the windy city to the heart of silicone valley starting in march. the airline will offer nonstop service -- united will offer twice daily service to chicago using a boeing 737. business is booming at the port of oakland. the mouth of the mississippi river said july was the busiest month in 10 years. they've handled 23,000 cargo containers. imports and exports are up 9% for the first six months of this year. making sure that tv binge watchers can stream for free.
