changing vote in nevada. >> raiders. >> reporter: we catch oakland council councilman larry reid as he learns the raiders are one step closer to moving to nevada. what do you think, they could possibly have this $750 million in public funding in nevada? >> i have no idea. >> reporter: reid here on the phone with nevada lawmakers trying to find out more about the possible deal after a nevada oversight committee voted unanimously to recommend $750 million of taxpayer funds to build the first-ever nfl stadium in las vegas. the city of oakland officials have been saying for years not a cent of public money will go into a new $2 billion domed stadium here. >> we think that there's a deal that could be had here in the city of oakland that keeps the raiders here and we are going to continue to move on the track that, um, that we have been traveling on. >> reporter: would that deal include any public funding? [ pause ] >> well, there's a -- there's a

-- there's a great chance, not public funding -- as it will relate going into the stadium itself. >> reporter: he says east bay agencies are still committed to providing about $40 million of public funds for infrastructure around a new stadium in oakland. still, the raiders could hit the jackpot in nevada. in addition to public money, there's financing from casino mogul sheldon adelson, who has agreed to give $650 million towards the project. is this bad news for oakland? >> no, i don't think it's bad news for the city of oakland. >> reporter: although the momentum is clearly building for a possible raiders move, this afternoon the mayor libby schaaf said in a statement, i will continue to work with the nfl and the raiders to iron out a deal that works for the team, the league, the fans and the taxpayers in oakland. in nevada, lawmakers and the governor still have to approve that stadium deal. in oakland, i'm jessica flores, kpix 5. >> and speaking of football, as

we said after this newscast, it's thursday night football. the new york jets will be taking on the buffalo bills pregame will start right here at 4:30. and kickoff is at 5:25 right here on kpix 5. the woman at the center of a multi-agency sexual misconduct scandal is back in the bay area after a bizarre turn of events in florida. her attorneys claim richmond police sent her there to keep her quiet. kpix 5 reporter da lin is live at the richmond police department. da. >> reporter: yeah, liz. her attorneys say jasmine is happy to be back home and close to her family. but the attorneys have some really harsh words for the richmond police department, suggesting a cover-up and obstruction of justice. >> she is a new lady and she is committed to a new course of conduct. >> reporter: attorney pamela price and charles bonner say jasmine abuslin is safe and getting psychiatric treatment at stanford. she did not attend today's press conference. >> she is then going to go to

school. she is going to get her ged. she is a very smart young lady. >> reporter: the 19-year-old girl who went by celeste guap now wants to go by her real name, jasmine abuslin. while in rehab in florida, police arrested and locked her up after she bit a security guard and tried to leave the facility. her attorneys flew her back last night after she took a plea deal. they say richmond police sent her there to shut her up. >> the joke is come to florida on vacation, leave on probation. we had to work hard to get jasmine out of there and bring her back not on probation. >> reporter: they say richmond police lied to her that it would be like a vacation. >> they put her on a plane. they flew her 3,000 miles away to florida. there was someone waiting in the airport with her name on a little piece of paper. those two people put her into a car and drove two hours north and never said a word. >> reporter: they say she grew suspicious and tried to leave when they wouldn't let her call

her father. now that she is back, the attorneys say they want the officers to pay for what they did. jasmine told me in june she had sex with at least 30 officers. it started when she was 16. she says they passed her around like a sex slave. the alameda county district attorney will file charges against 7 officers most of them former and current oakland police officers. but jasmine's attorneys say more officers should face the law. >> public safety requires public trust. we have to know that the police are going to protect and serve. when a young girl is running away from a pimp on the street, when she goes to a police officer, that he is not gonna take her to the back of the police car. >> reporter: the attorney is referring to the story of how jasmine met opd officer brendan o'brien but independent investigators say that meeting never happened. so i asked the attorneys about some of the inconsistencies in jasmine's stories.

they say there are no reasons to, um, question jasmine's credibility. they believe she is telling the truth. liz? >> now, da, the attorneys were very critical of the richmond police department. what's their response to the allegations they sent her to florida? >> reporter: yeah, richmond police say because she is a victim of human trafficking, they can't comment on the allegations or, um, who sent her there or why she was sent there. but i can tell you richmond leaders in past days have said they are not involved in a cover-up, not trying to shut her up. they are not trying to send her off so the can't do this criminal investigation. they say that's not the case at all according to city leaders. >> thank you. a man suspected of beating an elderly woman in a south bay home invasion is under arrest tonight. detectives say physical evidence led them to 19-year- old zachary cuen, accused of beating this 88-year-old woman known in the community as miss

flo. she is in critical condition tonight. investigators say it happened at her home in the east foothills area of san jose sometime sunday night or early monday morning. right now, they are working to figure out if the suspect had an accomplice. >> it was my grandmother, could be yours. it could be your mother. [ crying ] >> please, if you have any additional information, call. >> the detectives are looking for any home surveillance video from people in the neighborhood that may help in the investigation. campaign 2016. hillary clinton is back on the trail today after her recent pneumonia diagnosis. allen martin is here with the details. >> reporter: liz, clinton was steady on her feet as she walked to meet reporters on her campaign plane. she he collapsed during a 9/11 memorial event last sunday. >> how are you doing? how are you doing? >> i'm doing great. thank you so much. >> reporter: the latest cbs news poll shows the race is a dead heat.

third party candidates are included. hillary clinton with a two- point lead over donald trump but that's within the poll's margin of error. she still has an advantage among women. and an 83-point advantage among blacks. trump leads by 11 points among men and white voters. trump today released some details on his health. he disclosed that he is taking a drug to lower his cholesterol. >> i experimented with three statins. and one seems for me to work the best. and it's really brought my cholesterol down into a good range. >> meanwhile, donald trump, jr. under fire for comments he made on a philadelphia talk radio show. listen to his choice of words when complaining about how the media treats his father compared to clinton. >> they have let her slide on every, you know, indies strep pansy on every lie on every kfc game trying to get bernie sanders out of the thing. if republicans did that they would be warming up the gas

chamber. >> he was not making any comparisons to nazi genocide but, rather, gas chambers used in capital punishment. liz? >> thank you. for many races, the election could come down to voter turnout. here in the bay area, democrats are counting on latinos. one latino leader says targets stopped him from register latinos in san jose. kpix 5's len ramirez is at the target store in east san jose this afternoon. len. >> reporter: target says that it does continue to support the communities in which it has stores but this particular target was the target today of a protest alleging latino voter disenfranchisement. [ chanting ] >> reporter: long-time latino activist returned to the target store where he was arrested while registering voters only this time voting rights advocates faith leaders and members of the city council were behind him. >> guess what. i'm back! [ applause and cheers ] >> reporter: a camera rolled

during a confrontation on monday after target called the police to stop him from registering voters near the entrance to the target store on story and king roads. storefront political activities can be deemed unlawful if they block or hinder people from shopping. bustamante refused to leave and was arrested for misdemeanor trespass. today, his group continued to register voters in the same place. >> we are waiting to be arrested not once but as many times as necessary to assert this fundamental right. thank you very much. >> reporter: target issued a statement saying, quote, target is committed to providing a distraction-free shopping environment for our guests. therefore, we do not permit solicitation or petitions in our stores regardless of the cause or issue being represented. to be clear, the policy is not about the cause being represented. the statement went on to say, target supports civic engagement projects. the police chief said they did nothing wrong. >> that doesn't mean that after the dust settles that bee can't look back at our policies and

procedures and find ways within the law to find a different outcome as to what happened on monday and we're trying to do that. >> reporter: although voter registration activities continued in front of the target store today, target did not call the police. they simply sent out security guards to ask them to step aside and not block the entrances which they did. len ramirez existence. governor brown just signed a bill to strengthen oversight of building contractors following a deadly balcony collapse in berkeley. in january of 2015, a fifth floor balcony failed near the cal campus killing 6 people including five irish exchange students. some of the families were on hand for the signing of the bill which gives regulators access to more information about contractors. the builder in berkeley had paid millions in settlements for defects on previous projects. a groundbreaking today in alameda for a new operations center and a maintenance

facility for a fleet of ferries. the site is at the former alameda navy base. starting in 2018, berths will accommodate up to 12 ferries at a time being built for the water emergency transportation authority. that's the agency charged with coordinating ferry usage in emergencies like earthquakes. ♪[ music ] new claims of a sexist work environment at one of the bay area's largest companies. >> coming up, the leaked emails exposing alleged workplace harassment in silicon valley. >> plus a bay area dog shot. now police want your help finding the person who pulled the trigger. >> then, indy race cars taking over san francisco's embarcadero. ,,,,,,,,,,

complaints that it has a sexist company culture. kpix 5 reporter devin fehely has some details. >> reporter: the leaks emails describe a boys club culture inside apple one unwelcoming and unsupportive of women. >> i am disturbed with this. i am surprised that apple had actually let this get to this level? i would have expected that they would have nipped it in the bud. >> reporter: meg is the director of san jose state university school of management. she says the allegations are deeply troubling with one female victim claiming that the workplace environment was, quote, a very toxic atmosphere in which inappropriate jokes about rape went unchallenged. apple as well as many other tech companies have struggled to increase the percentage of women in the workforce. currently about a third or 32% of apple's employees are women. >> i don't think that just changing the numbers is going to solve the problem. if you have an environment that's toxic, um, you can have one toxic person in the company and that can create havoc in an

organization. >> reporter: a spokesman for the company says they can't discuss specific employee complaints. but they did release a prepared statement saying, apple is committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect. when we receive complaints or hear that employees are concerned about their work environment, we take it very seriously and we investigate claims thoroughly." several of the women say they wrote apple's ceo tim cook directly about their concerns but have yet to receive a response. in cupertino, devin fehely, kpix 5. >> apple's shares are soaring as iphone 7 and 7 plus are going on sale tomorrow. people are already lined up outside the apple store in union square, san francisco, iphone 7 plus sold out in all colors in presales but shoppers will be able to take home the smaller iphone 7 model. even if it means spending the night on the sidewalk. meanwhile, samsung as flagship smartphone the galaxy note 7 is

officially recalled. it's over the risk of the batteries exploding and catching fire. samsung has confirmed a few dozen cases. customers will now be offered full refunds not just replacement phones. you will have to contact samsung and provide a number from the back of your phone to determine whether it's at risk. disney is pulling its healthy gumbo recipe from its social media page after backlash from people in louisiana. disney originally posted it to promote the movie, the princess and the frog, which is based in new orleans. but the recipe has ingredients like kale and quinoa and leaves out the more authentic items like roux a mixture of flour and fat. #gumbostrong is trending on social media. well, it's not something you see every day on the busy streets of san francisco. >> race cars paraded along embarcadero today. they ended up at pier 39. fans got to check out the indy cars, see the drivers and snap a few pictures of the trophy. boudin bakery even had a

replica trophy made of its famous sourdough bread to promote the grand prix of sonoma which starts tomorrow. typhoon meranti left a wake of damage as it slammed into the coast of china but the most bizarre effect was caught on camera. look at this thing! it's a runaway moon -- a balloon in the shape of the moon. it was part of a festival display. it broke free and chased people around. [ laughter ] >> due to the high winds. [ laughter ] >> an odd sight. new video in ocean beach with what's believed to be a great white shark leaping out of the water! there it is. unbelievable. it surfaced just beyond where the surfers were taking on waves. shark experts say it was probably a 7 or 8-foot-long juvenile great white. some surfers came in but others braved the water. >> don't need to know how long it was. it was there.

degrees your kickoff temperature for the raiders. there's a less efficient onshore flow but notice i'm not saying it's gone. it's not entirely gone. as the ridge gets closer you won't feel the ocean influence. 90s in hot spots like antioch and fairfield but near the water the onshore flow will keep temperatures in check and even at the beach around 60 degrees for a high. your numbers aren't moving but we'll be about 5 to 10 degrees warmer way from the water. so fog returns to the coast and bay overnight tonight. we'll push the repeat button for tomorrow. couple of degrees warmer but not that much. notice the green colors surrounding the bay. 60s and 70s there. 69 for oakland. but 90 for a high for livermore. and 80 in san jose. and temperatures warming up this weekend our own dennis o'donnell is emceeing the alzheimer's walk. the walk to end alzheimer's, 10 a.m. on saturday fort mason, should be a beautiful morning for a walk. 65 degrees in san francisco. looking at temperatures warming as we head toward the weekend, we'll see mid-90s in the hottest spots saturday, sunday

just a few weeks after the ncaa tournament, azzi came out publicly as gay becoming the only lesbian coach in division i women's basketball. she said she is not interested in going back to coaching. >> i'm a totally at peace and, you know, people that i have consulted that have known me for, you know, for 20- something years, um, fully understand it. it's just -- it's just being who i am. it's time. i'm going to have a baby in february and becoming a parents throws in another, you know, part of your life that i want to be fully dedicated. the 49ers dominated the st. louis rams on monday night. but now the schedule gets a little tougher with back-to- back road games at carolina and seattle. the panthers lost their opener in denver. a super bowl rematch with the broncos. now the panthers defense has allowed 45 points in their last two games dating back to last year. 49ers offensive coordinator
