>> there's a drive to deep left field! and the ball game is over! good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. hurricane matthew is now expected to be very close to florida's atlantic coast by tomorrow night. the hurricane warning area there has been expanded. this morning, matthew remains a category 3 storm with winds of 125 miles per hour. the storm center has moved off the coast of cuba after making landfall there last night. at least 11 deaths are blamed on the storm, most in hard-hit haiti and neighboring dominican republic. 145-mile-per-hour winds slam the island. floodwaters and mudslides caused extensive damage and roads are impassible and a key bridge was washed out. >> everything is gone.

like bulldozer flew by. i can tell you this exactly. >> the u.n. says this is the largest humanitarian disaster in haiti since the devastating earthquake six years ago. matthew will be moving across the bahamas tomorrow. eric fisher, chief meteorologist at our boston station wbz, is following matthew. >> reporter: matthew remains a dangerous hurricane and likely reintensifies. we head into wednesday and thursday as it moves into the bahamas, an area that is very favorable for development. i want to show you a couple of major models and how they take this off toward the west the next couple of days. great agreement. it comes across the bahamas as a very dangerous hurricane and remain a category 3 or 4. as we head into late thursday it reaches the coast of florida s and moves up along it and it may stay just offshore and if that is the case the energy source the warm ocean waters and continue to follow the shape of the coastline. as we head into friday. up the georgia/south carolina

coast. on saturday into sunday it moves more north and east and more uncertainty as we head toward the weekend. some guidance keeping it farther off to the south and slower moving storm. that is bigger trouble. or one that moves farther out to sea. at this point, it looks like any impact to the northeast is looking low, if any at all. in terms of hurricane force winds. very likely across the bahamas for wednesday and thursday as this travels off to the northwest. a chance for hurricane winds to get into florida by thursday evening and glide up the coastline. still to be determined if the strong winds get on shore or not and the other thing to watch. whether the heaviest rainfall gets on shore or not. right now, it looks like the heaviest totals are along the coastline. the threat of the heaviest rain is close to the shore and rain totals will drop off dramatically as you move toward the west. and the other thing to watch out for. big surf. waves over 20 feet will be offshore late this week. i'm meteorologist eric fisher for cbs news. >>

no criminal charges will be filed against a white police officer scene on video punching a black man as he sat on his mother's porch in north carolina. the police department said the officer had violated use of force policy. don dahler has the footage. >> is everything okay? >> reporter: last june, police officers charlotte jackson and travis cole, both wearing body cameras, approached dejuan yourse. after report of a possible burglary. yourse explained he was there waiting for his mom. at first, the encounter was cordial. as officer jackson checked

yourse i.d., officer cole questioned him. but the call went to voice mail. after eight more minutes, yourse urged cole to confirm his story with neighbors and started down the steps. that's when the situation quickly escalates. >> you can't grab my phone like that, man! get off me, man! >> reporter: as he was trying to handcuff yourse, officer cole allegedly punched yourse at least once during the confrontation. but he ended up with officer cole on his back. both officers have resigned from the department. the district attorney declined to charge officers coles and all
