was the most tweeted debate ever. we have been keeping tabs on what people in the bay area are tweeting about. icate? >> reporter: almost instantly there was an unusual moment that caught everyone's attention before the candidates had even said a word. no handshake. you can see it right there on the screen. talk about the gloves being off. candidates came out, they acknowledged each other. and that was it. kyle from san francisco tweeted the first a-political statement of the night, no handshake. nonpolitical sadly it is rooted in mutual hate. a short time later san francisco supervisor tweeted only "saturday night live" can make it okay. unfortunately this is real and not satire. and 10 there was this ... >> we are going to make trade deals and a strong border. >> reporter: liz tweets my mom

figure out why a boat capsized in the bay with 30 people on board. it happened off pier 45. jess -- jessica flores reports the next step is to find the boat deep in the water and pull it out. >> come on. >> reporter: investigators are trying to untangle what led the cabin cruiser to capsize and quickly sink. these -- this video was taken. >> lifeless boy. >> heart wrenching when you see a baby getting cpr. >> that 4-year-old boy in critical condition yesterday today now is in stable condition at the hospital. and the five other adults and two children who were taken to the hospital have now been released. the coast guard says the victims are fortunate that help showed up within minutes. sfpd, the fire department, the coast guard were already the

patrolling the bay for fleet week. >> it did work out to our advantage that there were so many people on the water willing to help out. it could have been a lot worse this were not so many people around and conducting the patrols. >> now, sfpd's marine unit is leading the investigation. looking at every possible cause from impairment to conditions on the water. >> the next step in the investigation is actually locate the vessel that is under water in the marine unit they will use the radar devices to scan the water to locate the vessel. once it is located it will be necessary to make arrangements to have that vessel brought back to the surface. >> the wrecked boat below, all of those on board are alive and recovering. >> san francisco police department is looking at how many life vests were on that boat. according to law anyone under the age of 13 is required to wear life vests on the water. reporting in san francisco, kpix5. >> there is an advisory heading

not a playground. >> reporter: this view from the golden gate bridge district. >> we are working closely with the chp to investigate who was involved in this and to bring them to justice. this is a completely selfish behavior. >> reporter: the sideshow involving dozens of motorcyclists and dirt bikers took over golden gate bridge at 4:00 yesterday. south of the blue angels took to the skies during san francisco's popular fleet week. the group popped wheelies, did do nuts and sped northbound on the bridge and then got off and back ongoing southbound. stopping traffic on both sides. >> it is a vital part of the bay area infrastructure. these motorcyclists put dozens of drivers who are in the immediate vicintiy if in danger. >> it is not going to be tolerated. >> reporter: that was not the only sideshow this weekend. for hours yesterday drivers reported sideshows on the bay bridge, too. >> we were able to catch up to

sacramento. tonight, kaine is declaring hillary clinton the debate winner. while mike pence tweeted congrats to my runningmate donald trump on a big debate win. proud to stand with you as we hash tag mag or make america great again. new trouble for samsung because of the exploding smart phones. >> tonight, we are learning sam sung has suspended the production of the galaxy note 7. that is according to a south korean news agency. they recalled millions of the phones and offered replacements. now reports that replacement phones like this one are also catching fire. now, this phone started smoking on a southwest flight last week. that plane had to be evacuated. sam sung recalled more than $2 million of the galaxy note 7 made before september 15th.

there have been 92 reports in the u.s. of the phone's battery overheating resulting in 26 burns and 55 cases of property damage. earlier today, team mobile became the second wireless carrier along with at&t to extend sales. tonight, people in palm springs are coming together to grieve and honor two police officers who were killed in the line of duty. hundreds of people gathered tonight. two officers were gunned down yesterday while responding to a dommestic call. a third police officer was wounded. he has just been -- domestic call. a third police officer was wounded. he was just released. >> we would joke around all of the time and he would tell me you have the right to remain silent and then he will world it against you in court. [crying] >> the police arrested 26-year- old john felix after a 12 hour standoff. santa rosa police are trying to track down a hit and run driver who left an elderly woman with serious injuries. it happened last night near the church. witnesses saw a white sedan hit an 84-year-old woman who was crossing the street in the middle of the block. the victim has spine fractures and head trauma. the driver was a woman in her 50s or 60s that sped away. a spring of break ins has people unnerved in concord. it has been a welcoming place for lbgt people for two decades now but burglars struck four times in the last few weeks. and in the most recent case someone sprayed nasty language about gays on piles outside. the police call it a hate crime and the staff at the center

feel shaken. >> dealing with the fear that you might see someone in here that might be threatening or finding stuff all over and well t does get scary, yes. >> the break ins happened soon after the rainbow center held a workshop at a high school. it is not clear if there is a connection. hurricane matthew soaked north carolina. it weakened to a post tropical cyclone. left wreckage in the path of the atlantic coast. it is blamed for 18 deaths. crews spent the day making rescues and communities under water. one person was plucked from the roof top of a house in raleigh. rising floodwaters the officials foremore people can be in danger. the storm is now out to sea the next challenge is cleanup. the cost is expected to top $6 billion. >> glad victims in south carolina are getting help from bay area volunteers. the north carolina chapter of the red cross sent them down with emergency rescue vehicles.
